Villainous Husband, the One You’re Obsessed With Is Over There - Chapter 177
Chapter 89.1
“It’s common to get burned on the back of your feet when you overlook things.”
[ T/N: This sentence can be considered an idiom since it can be translated to something like, ‘Ignoring something often leads to trouble’ or ‘Neglecting something is like shooting yourself in the foot.’ ]
Uttering so, Eden spat out bloody spit on Raniro’s feet.
As he stared at his dirty shoe, anger began to boil up from deep within Raniro’s stomach. It was an insult to the divine status that he had partially received. Even though it wasn’t clear whether Eden had the intention to do so, it felt like he was dragging Angelica’s hem and mocking him.
She ran away while he foolishly overlooked it.
An even more intense feeling than the one he felt towards Sylvia welled up. Eden was Angelica’s companion. In essence, he was different from those whom she had left behind in Count Tocino’s estate.
…Angelica herself chose to leave him and be with the man in front of him.
What was so special about this man? In Raniero’s eyes, Eden was just an indistinguishable ant.
‘Should I just kill him?’
Perhaps it seemed that he was uncharacteristically merciful earlier. If he had ended his life then, he wouldn’t have to listen to such arrogant words now. Then, his mind didn’t have to be this much more confused.
There was no need for a blade to kill the current Eden since his bare hands were enough.
At the thought, Raniero raised his hand and grabbed Eden’s throat.
The pitch-black eyes that glared fearlessly at him somehow reminded him of Sylvia, too. If those who valued their lives knew, they would all bow their heads and cower before him.
So cocky.
He should be taken as an example.
Veins bulged on Raniero’s neck as his fingertips roughly dug into Eden’s throat. However, ever since learning that Angelica had run away, Sylvia’s voice, which had been constantly interfering with his actions, echoed sharply in his ears once again.
“Kill me, and then your wife will fear you even more.”
Despite the fact that Eden scratched at his arm as if struggling to breathe, he neither begged for forgiveness nor admitted guilt. His refusal to submit only irritated Raniero further.
However, Sylvia’s words prevented him from stopping his breath.
“As long as she fears you, you won’t obtain love!”
The loud words rang in his ears.
In the end, Raniero slammed Eden to the ground. His pupils were dilated, and cold sweat streamed down his face. Even his fingertips were trembling mercilessly. Although it was Eden whose throat was being strangled, Raniero spoke in a choked voice.
“Those who challenge the authority of God will pay a fitting price.”
He then quickly left the temple building as if avoiding the groaning Eden.
In the meanwhile, people watched Raniero’s retreating figure as if mesmerized and then gathered around Eden. No matter how much of a shameful person he was who caused this tragedy, they had to treat him.
Seraphina stood up from among them.
“Angelica is hurt too, isn’t she? Where is she?”
“In the, the room inside the prayer room…”
While the priest who answered seemed apologetic for not being able to protect the Saint’s room, Seraphina didn’t seem to care at all.
“That’s fortunate. She’s been staying there all this time, so it must be the most comfortable for her. I’ll take care of her treatment.”
Her expression became somewhat clouded.
“There’s something I have to say.”

When I came to my senses, there was a lot of sunlight pouring over my head.
Feeling very thirsty, I groped around my head without even opening my eyes before someone placed a lukewarm glass of water in my hand, and I gulped it down hastily. To be honest, I felt like I spilled about half of it on the sheets, though I didn’t bother to care about that.
“Ha…”
My head ached as if it would split open. On the other hand, the memories just before losing consciousness were very blurry, and I hoped I wouldn’t remember them forever because the awareness that it wasn’t something good lingered.
It wasn’t just my head that hurt.
While the dull muscle pain engulfed my entire body, amid that, I could feel a blunt and heavy ache from my ankles. When I tried to change my position and moved a bit, that pain sharply transformed into a stabbing sensation.
As I frowned and opened my eyes, at that moment, someone took the cup from my hand.
As my gaze followed the direction of the moving hand, Seraphina’s face, visibly tense, soon came into my view. The moment I saw that face, memories I wanted to forget began to quickly etch themselves in my mind again—from the anxiety during Raniero’s pursuit to the words she screamed while embracing Eden in the old sanctuary.
I abruptly stood up and distanced myself from Seraphina. In doing so, I accidentally tripped over my ankle, and I instantly crumpled my brow.
“Angelica…”
“Don’t come.”
As I uttered hastily, those words came out harsh.
Lowering her head, Seraphina’s eyelashes fluttered before she put the empty water glass down on the table and opened her mouth again.
“I’m sure you have many questions for me.”
There were really too many questions… so many that I wasn’t sure what to ask first. Should I ask why she pretended not to know anything? Or should I ask what exactly she knows?
I bit my lip. I was furious, feeling like a fool.
Eventually, I asked with a hoarse voice.
“Why… didn’t you kill him?”
In the end, this was the first question that came out of my mouth. Even after saying it out loud, a shiver ran down my spine. I swept my arm down and forced my eyes to look at Seraphina.
“If you knew everything… If you had just listened to my request, we wouldn’t have ended up like this. Why, why didn’t you?”
