Time-Limited Saintess, You've Been Caught by the Tyrant Once Again - Chapter 91
Chapter 46.1
“I greet Your Majesty.”
Maynard greeted with an indifferent tone. Despite Arkan’s openly displeased expression, he maintained a polite demeanor.
Arkan glanced at him before parting his lips.
“I didn’t expect the Lightning Knight to show up here.”
“I arrived the day after the Saintess did. I thought it would be presumptuous for a mere knight to announce his arrival to Your Majesty, so I refrained.”
Maynard spoke respectfully, and Arkan raised one side of his mouth in a slight smirk.
“Right, I see. So, what were you two talking about?”
“…What do you mean?”
“You and my person.”
The words ‘my person’ had a strange resonance.
Maynard’s expression became even more rigid. The reason this man, who exuded such a cruel and dangerous aura, had come here wasn’t because of him. He glanced at Ellin, who appeared indifferent to whether the Emperor was cruel or not.
“I was just greeting the paladin.”
“Were you two close enough for that?”
“Yes, he’s been considerate in many ways.”
“Not to that extent.”
Maynard replied stiffly.
Arkan’s face, alternating between looking at Ellin and Maynard, showed clear displeasure.
“Yeah, it wouldn’t be to that extent.”
“….”
“That’s why you threw her out in the rain, all bruised and battered.”
“Battered?”
“You didn’t know?”
When Maynard turned toward Ellin, she wore a calm expression as if nothing had happened.
“Ellin, are you hurt?”
At that moment, Charlotte, who had been quiet until now, asked.
“No.”
Ellin smiled warmly and patted the child’s head before she turned to Arkan and opened her mouth again.
“Your Majesty, I would appreciate it if you didn’t speak about my affairs.”
“…What?”
“Please. I don’t like it when you mention things I haven’t brought up myself.”
Her firm words took Arkan by surprise.
Maynard was equally astonished. This was the same woman who had always endured suffering without a single complaint, yet here she was, speaking boldly before the Emperor. In fact, she didn’t even spare Arkan a proper glance. It was rude, but for some reason, she seemed angry.
Strangely enough, it was Arkan who looked at her with a kind of earnestness.
“…Alright, I understand. My apologies.”
And surprisingly, he agreed with her.
What kind of relationship do those two have? Was the notion of the Emperor being merciless merely a myth?
When Ellin bent slightly and moved away with Charlotte, the two men exchanged bewildered glances since they didn’t have any personal motives against each other.
As Arkan’s red eyes briefly flicked toward Maynard, a surge of uncontrollable anger rose within him.
Maynard’s gaze remained fixed on Ellin as if he couldn’t look away.

When Liliana arrived at the baptism site, all eyes turned to her. She was dressed in a bright white gown, radiant as a flower, with a delicate floral crown on her head.
She beamed at the people who greeted her.
It was an esteemed occasion to bestow baptism upon the princess. Liliana reveled in the attention. As she scanned the crowd, her gaze stopped at one particular spot.
Ellin stood there, dressed similarly to her.
Liliana’s expression turned pensive.
‘Why is she here like that?’
Her smile faltered slightly. Clenching the hem of her dress, she then approached Arkan.
“I’m honored to meet you, Your Majesty.”
As always, her tone was elegant and gentle. Liliana greeted him with the grace of her namesake, a lily. Despite the commotion from her entrance, Arkan wasn’t looking her way. She realized his gaze was fixed on Ellin.
Frustration bubbled inside her.
“Your Majesty?”
Arkan finally turned his head at her call and smiled brightly. When the handsome man with red eyes smiled so radiantly, Ellin felt her heart soften.
“Oh dear, I didn’t notice you because I was looking elsewhere.”
He then lifted Liliana’s hand and kissed the back of it with a warm smile.
“How is your stay? Is it comfortable?”
In response to his question, Liliana smiled back and replied. In her eyes, aside from the red eyes, he was indeed captivating.
“Yes, it has been comfortable.”
“I’ve been so busy with the baptism preparations that I haven’t had a chance to visit until now.”
His words lightened the mood as he preemptively acknowledged that Liliana might have felt neglected. With those words, any lingering disappointment among Liliana and her companions seemed to melt away.
“I thought you might be upset because I made a mistake with Her Highness the Princess. I…”
“It’s not like Charlotte was hurt; it was just a playful mishap. It’s nothing serious.”
Arkan genuinely seemed to think so. Those who had worried that he might be angry about the incident felt reassured. In fact, it seemed odd to harbor such concerns.
