The maid gritted her teeth as Ellin spoke firmly. When she gestured silently to the maids who had been quietly observing them since earlier, they approached the Princess.

Charlotte, who had been screaming, started sobbing when she met Ellin’s eyes. The hand that had covered her ears now wrapped around her neck.

Ellin whispered as she patted her back, and Charlotte nestled into her arms.
“I asked what was going on. Why isn’t anyone explaining the situation?”
Arkan looked at the maid, who nervously bit her lip and replied.
“Not only did that sinner meet Her Highness the Princess without permission, but she also gave her an inappropriate gift.”
“An inappropriate gift?”
“Yes.”
“What was it?”
“She gave her a red ribbon. She said it’s the same color of her eyes.”

Arkan’s face hardened. He looked at the red ribbon clutched tightly in Charlotte’s hand.
Ellin’s expression also froze. Arkan had never shied away from red decorations in his lifetime, but he had never preferred them either. He had never worn red clothing. With the handmaiden mentioning the color of his eyes like that, there must be a reason Arkan didn’t wear red clothing.

He silenced Ellin. Annoyance creased all over his face.
“If the Princess wants something, just give it to her. Why are you causing such a fuss?”

The handmaidens disappeared, taking the maidservants with them. Only Arkan, Charlotte, and Ellin remained in the room.
“Charlotte.”
When Arkan called her name, Charlotte raised her head and trotted over.

She smiled with a tearful face and held out the gift she had received.
“Are you showing off?”
“Ung. Ellin gave me this gift.”
Arkan looked at the crumpled ribbon before he sighed and picked it up. After hesitating, he tied it around his sister’s arm.
“It looks good on you.”
Upon hearing those words, the little girl beamed brightly. She shook her arm playfully and looked towards Ellin. When Ellin smiled back at her, Charlotte giggled happily and opened her mouth.
“Mirror. I want to look in the mirror!”
“Yeah, go and see. How about going to the dressing room? You can also pick out clothes that suit it.”
“That’s right! That sounds great.”
Charlotte exclaimed happily.
Seeing that, Ellin started to follow, but he stopped her before he gestured to the knight at the entrance to take Charlotte away. Now, there were only two people left in the room.
As a slightly suffocating silence settled, Arkan glanced at Ellin.
