Time-Limited Saintess, You've Been Caught by the Tyrant Once Again - Chapter 33
Chapter 17.1
The paladins remained silent at the question of Ellin’s whereabouts.
“Have you already expelled her?”
Maynard’s deep blue eyes emitted a frosty glow. Seeing him, who was uncharacteristically enraged, it seemed that things could escalate into a major conflict.
“N, no! His Majesty the Emperor has invited the Saint and the other Angelias to the Palace, so they are currently there right now.”
“The Imperial Palace? Why would the Emperor…?”
“He had invited them to dinner out of the blue… and the Saint accepted the invitation. They will probably stay for a day and then return.”
Maynard frowned.
Who ordered the Saint to come or go?
Such abrupt invitations were impolite. No matter how fearful the Emperor may be, the temples have their own dignity. Even though the Great Temple was currently in the Capital, the Pope held equal authority over his territories in the lower provinces as they had been residing in the Capital for some time due to the relationship between Nicaea and the temples.
However, there was a clash between the palace and the temple over the coronation ceremony. It was because, despite the Pope’s offer to preside over the ceremony, the Normatian Emperor declined.
OF course, the Temple didn’t remain silent. They proclaimed that without the cleansing of blood, they couldn’t bestow the blessings of the Gods upon him. So in retaliation, the Imperial Palace spread rumors that the temple had depleted its divine power. Only a fool would fail to notice that their relationship had rapidly cooled down.
Yet amidst all this, the Saint still went to the Imperial Palace.
Some might interpret this positively as the Emperor extending his hand, but such an optimistic calculation would be unwarranted.
‘…How can she just leave without consulting with His Holiness about such an important matter?’
Going to the Palace without knowing the Emperor’s intentions also posed a problem. While the Emperor’s orders were absolute for the nobles, the Saint held a different position. Surely the high priests weren’t simply standing by and watching this unfold. What if the Emperor decided to kidnap the Saint and force her into marriage?
Faced with this hopeless situation, Maynard let out a sigh.
“It takes time to get to the imperial palace… so we can’t talk about this right now.”
“….”
“Then, start investigating the leakage of the Golden Bible.”

The banquet was opulent, and any initial curiosity among the guests about the Emperor’s invitation quickly faded as they were treated with great hospitality.
Arkan remained quiet, but the servants and maids treated the Saint with the utmost respect. Liliana and Angelia were pleased with the lavish spread presented by the Emperor, a treatment befitting distinguished guests from another country.
“Your voices brought the spring breeze to Nicaea. May this be an enjoyable feast for all of you.”
Although his red eyes were frightening, he was a young man with a captivating appearance. As he lowered his gaze, it created the effect of concealing his ominous eyes, making him appear like a nobleman.
The Angelias smiled at the gentlemanly Emperor and began to taste the delicacies of the Imperial Palace. Though in the midst of it all, Ellin didn’t partake in the meal. She had no appetite. Not only because of the events earlier in the day, but she had no desire to be in this palace ‘again.’ Even though there were no bleeding corpses in this place, there was a lingering scent of blood in the air.
“Miss Ellin, is the food not to your liking?”
She thought he wouldn’t even be looking at her, but it seemed like he had been observing her.
Ellin shook her head slightly.
“No, it’s not that. It’s just that as a commoner, the food here is too extravagant for me to dare put in my mouth.”
“For someone who says that, you seem familiar with dining etiquette.”
Hnk.
Ellin flinched and clicked her tongue.
Caught up in the atmosphere, she unconsciously followed the dining etiquette. It was natural for a commoner to be unfamiliar with dining etiquette. Moreover, in a grandeur and complex palace, anyone would feel intimidated.
But until just now, she had been so natural.
‘…He must have been observing me even then.’
Ellin let out a sigh.
“The Saint taught me.”
Liliana put on an incredulous look.
Seeing her expression, Ellin smirked. After all, once she left the temple, she would never see these people again. She was tired and simply wanted to be done with these people, so she just came up with a plausible excuse.
“The Saint is truly kind.”
“It’s because I have to fit in with the other Angelias.”
Liliana lied without batting an eye. Ellin stifled a hollow laugh seeing her like that. It made her even more nauseous.
Smiling politely, she opened her mouth again.
“Your Majesty, I’m not feeling well. May I retire and rest?”
It may have seemed a bit impolite, but was there really a reason to endure this nauseating meal any longer? The thought of having tea time with desserts and all made her stomach churn. Despite barely eating anything, it felt like everything she had consumed was on the verge of coming back up.
She sincerely hoped for things to go as she hoped.
Although Arkan had a reputation for being cruel, he didn’t automatically resort to throats as known. Most of the time, he was merciful in his actions within his own boundaries.
In the meanwhile, Arkan gazed at her in silence, taking note of her unusually pale complexion and displeased expression.
“You truly look unwell. Go rest for now.”
“Thank you.”
“Ah, should I call a physician?”
“No, it’s just a slight discomfort in my stomach, so it’s fine.”
Saying so, Ellin stood up and greeted the Emperor before disappearing.
