This BL Novel Is Ruined Now - Chapter 146
Reina huffed out. However, the thicker fingers holding onto the very tips of her own looked so defeated.
Tap, tap, tap.
When she tapped his fingers right then, it was only a very minor gesture, but Ethan instantly brightened up. Seeing this, Reina’s heart sank heavier.
‘As expected… I’ve been making Ethan feel insecure, haven’t I?’
The obsession and jealousy that Ethan was displaying might very well be Reina’s fault. After all, from his point of view, she had changed so vastly. Not long ago, she’d been chasing after him so persistently, and she was the first one who called him ‘my love’.
Yet, look at how she was acting now.
Besides, she’s not trying to push or pull him anymore, so the biggest problem right now might be the ‘rivals’ flocking around her.
Looking away for a moment, Reina stared at the green leaves fluttering gently in the wind. Then, she opened her lips to speak.
“Ethan. Can we talk?”
But was it because her tone was rather heavy? She saw his eyes twitch faintly.
“There’s nothing you have to be nervous about though, Ethan.”
Where should I start, she wondered.
I didn’t approach you because I actually loved you…? It’s only for the sake of my own safety that I called you ‘my love’…?
Quite honestly, Reina did not have the confidence to bare her heart that much.
So, she decided to confess with the utmost honesty that she could give him.
“To be honest, Ethan, I’ve been very confused about a lot of things.”
Darkness that’s deeper than perhaps an abyss rushed over his gaze right then. However, witnessing his anxiety, she clasped his hand more tightly in hers.
“It’s a cowardly excuse, but because of some circumstances, I thought only about myself… So I couldn’t be clear with you before.”
His gaze, which had cooled down, trembled slightly and fell, wandering in the air. Reina made an effort to make eye contact with him as if to calm his unease.
“But one thing’s for sure, Ethan. I like you now. Really, truly.”
Of course, she already liked him from the start.
But if she were to put one hand over the left side of her chest and really be honest… Such feelings weren’t strong enough to say that he’s ‘the only one’ for her. He’s just the most viable candidate amongst the many fiancé candidates she had.
However, ever since they started working together to try and overcome the bubonic plague, a lot had changed between them.
She saw his true feelings for her, and she realized that she could rely on him. Whenever Reina was in a pinch, Ethan was the first person who’d come…
Quite honestly, she still wasn’t all that clear about why he was always there for her.
However, one thing’s certain.
Ever since what happened here at the Launcer village, her feelings for Ethan changed and became sincere.
“I really want to get to know you, Ethan.”
His pupils started shaking.
He was speechless for a while, as if he was hearing a confession that he had been hoping for all this time but wasn’t expecting any time soon.
It was as if he was overcome with relief and joy and, wanting to cherish that feeling, he clasped her hand tightly as well.
“…Thank you, Reina.”
“No. I’m the one who’s more grateful.”
For liking me and for being with me, thank you so much, Ethan.
As she was all choked up, Reina couldn’t express all of the sincerity that still lingered within her. Because, if she were to start, it felt like she really would confess even the wicked feelings she had for him, too.
‘You’re going to be hurt, I just know it…’
She could admit that what she’s doing right now was selfish, but…
Right now, instead of regarding him as only a ‘lifeline’, he was ‘Ethan Liam’ to her. At last, she could wholeheartedly see him for who he truly was.
So, she did not wish to miss this opportunity.
“Ethan. That’s why I want to be with you.”
But before that, there’s something she needed to be sure about.
“So, I’ll be more forthcoming about my feelings, too. In turn, I hope that you can be more understanding of my people… Please promise me that you won’t attack them.”
If it was someone else, this wouldn’t even be something she had to ask.
But the problem was that he’s Ethan. He was someone who could even straight up kill the dragonfolk if he’d ever actually go on a rampage.
Until now, he kept using his magic against Paul and Eli unhesitatingly. And there was only one reason behind this: Reina.
‘Even if it’s true that they can defend themselves…’
If this magical genius was truly determined to kill, they’d have absolutely no time to escape and would become a handful of ashes in an instant.
Therefore, it was imperative for her to put a handle on Ethan, who was increasingly getting more and more aggressive against the people around Reina.
“Please promise me that you won’t treat my precious people recklessly.”
Though he’d been avoiding her eyes until now, he looked at her with a gaze that’s equally as deep as his black eyes, so deep that she felt herself falling into them.
“…Reina, you just don’t know. You can’t see just how many insidious pricks are out there in the world… Just how rotten to the core they are with those insidious feelings they have for you… You have no idea how dirty and disgusting those wolf punks out there are.”
Good grief. He must have realized that Eli had feelings for her.
No, but still. For him to say ‘wolf punk’… Why were his words getting rougher too.
“Umm… Ethan. Wolf punk, uh. Um… Isn’t that a bit too harsh?”
Though Reina was rebuking him, he merely nodded as though he was convinced.
“Indeed. That was just a slip of the tongue. It’s an insult to wolves.”
With the out-of-the-blue turn of this conversation, Reina burst out into a peal of laughter. Then, Ethan’s eyes curved up as well as he leaned forward, merely less than an inch away from her.
“By the way, it’s said that wolves live only for one mate for the rest of their lives.”
Uh, wait a sec. Stop right there.
Don’t tell me, you’re going to say what I think you’re going to say…?
Regardless of her thoughts, which were full of consternation, Ethan reached up and stroked her smooth cheek.
By the time her light purple eyes became a dark violet in the reflection of his eyes, a melodious confession flowed out.
“So, Reina, I will be your wolf.”
