I'm kind of surprised Cedric didn't order that Aubrey be sent to fight at the border (maybe under Mel?) as punishment…even though she is a child, isn't she old enough to be a squire?

Prob he think aubrey only will be a burden only for others. She needs training and i doubt the fams giving her training as soldiee because her… Sickness? Weakness? Or their guilt for her (the same reason aubrey turn into spoiled brat).
sending aubrey without any basic skills into border means he order her die. And it isnt wise choice, especially to keep the loyalty of the fams.

I can see that, but considering the events of the past life, surprised Cedric doesn't feel the Jordyns are semi-unreliable as parents, and putting Aubrey under Mel technically wouldn't be a death sentence (doubt Mel would coddle her, since she's the one who killed her in the past life, but given that Aubrey had Mel as a backer, she wouldn't be assigned anything too difficult)…I don't doubt she'd be a burden, but she'd be Mel's burden, and I would think she'd be assigned somewhere in the rear, like cook, nursing, laundry, etc…

Ah true. Aubrey def tricky problem to solve. Her fams is too tolerant towards her and she would drag her fams down in some way, or maybe the whole evron, with her personality.
