The Unlikely Imprint of the Villainess and the Male Lead - Chapter 46
Chapter 46
Translator: Yonnee
—
Being abandoned by Luciana…
“……!”
The vivid hypothetical scenario pierced Richt’s mind like an arrow, causing his heart to plummet like a fortress under siege.
“Your Grace, you truly are the worst.”
He imagined Luciana coldly hurling those words at him—her gaze filled with contempt, her lips pressed tightly in unyielding disapproval.
—Apologize to her, Richt! Go to her and admit your mistakes!
Sensing his inner conflict, his instincts urged him on, an urgent and frustrated voice pressing him to seek her forgiveness. You know you went too far.
Spotting a pristine sheet of stationery on his desk, Richt’s furrowed brows deepened with contemplation. After all, as long as the imprint remains, we need to work together. There’s no need to make things worse.
Yet, for some reason, his gaze lingered on the fresh paper. Should he send an apology now?
Just as Richt unconsciously reached out, another voice—sharp and disapproving—cut in.
—Since when do you care about such things? Once you sever the imprint, she’ll be out of your life for good. There’s no need to concern yourself with her.
“……!”
If only the imprint would disappear.
His hand that had been reaching for the paper slowly withdrew.
—Don’t fall for your instincts.
With that last warning, the voice that had been stirring his thoughts vanished, leaving Richt grimacing at himself.
Realizing he’d been swayed by that sly inner whisper, his face showed not a hint of humor. He ultimately decided against sending the letter, choosing instead to ignore it.
Yet, despite his attempt at indifference, memories of Luciana continued to haunt him over the following days, surfacing unexpectedly and disturbing his thoughts.
Now, as he struggled to concentrate, his mind drew up her wounded expression once more.
—Think about it. You saw her wavering gaze, didn’t you? She was surely hurt.
The image of her hurt eyes, looking up at him with that hardened gaze, dug into his conscience, the echo of his harsh words lingering. He’d agreed with that inner voice, hadn’t he, since the imprint was forged?
—What will you do if you end up hated by her forever? If that happens, it’ll be because of your own callousness!
Being rejected by Luciana…
Bang!
The unsettling thought crashed into his mind, and Richt shot up from his seat, his face cold and expressionless.
Luciana Leslie.
She was nothing more than a bothersome partner tied to him by accident.
“There’s no reason to let her get to me.”
With that, he forced away the persistent thoughts of Luciana and brushed a hand over his increasingly gaunt cheeks.
* * *
Chin raised high, confident strides, and a firm knock.
“Excuse me, if anyone’s in there, could you open the door?”
Once again, Mary had arrived, tasked with another of Luciana’s errands, holding a large box in her hands as she delivered her request with a hint of sass.
Creak.
The firmly closed door slowly opened, revealing the hooded figure of the man who had become a familiar sight.
“Apologies. As you can see, my hands are a bit full.”
“……”
Although the box held little more than a few sheets of paper and could easily be managed with one hand, Mary purposefully ignored this as she stepped inside, clearly intending to put him to work.
No doubt he’d noticed by now that this brunette woman was stubbornly acting up, as the packages she brought were always as light as air.
Hmph! This is nothing!
Perhaps it was under Lady Luciana’s influence, but ever since Mary’s first errand, the once-insolent man had grown noticeably quieter.
Mary often teased him with subtle provocations or jabs about his past mistakes, but it was as though an invisible leash prevented him from uttering a single protest.
My dear lady is the best!
And so, Mary delighted in occasionally tormenting Lik.
In truth, her annoyance with him had long since faded, but toying with him was far too enjoyable for her to stop.
“Here! Lady Lilian’s new commission.”
