The Unlikely Imprint of the Villainess and the Male Lead - Chapter 43
Chapter 43

“I should have just ignored this whole mating season nonsense.”
Even though she knew it wouldn’t have ended well for her either, saying it out loud somehow eased her frustration.
“Just because he’s the main character, he thinks he can do whatever he wants? I hope he goes bald someday!”
Luciana muttered curses under her breath, picking up her chemise from the floor.
* * *
As she mulled over Richt’s words, the more she thought about it, the angrier she got, and every insult she could think of tumbled out.
Shouldn’t he at least have had the decency to apologize for last night?
Annoyed beyond words at his shameless attitude, she had stormed out of the manor without looking back, grateful to have left early enough to avoid being spotted.
“For the first time ever, I’m feeling desperate for pain-relief patches.”
She’d never had to exert herself like that, let alone run, and her muscles were crying out in protest.
She would have loved to spend the day just lying in bed, resting her mind and body. Unfortunately, though, the traces of last night still lingered, and she had to ask Mary for a bath early in the morning to scrub them away.
“……”
As she rubbed her skin with the vanilla-scented bubbles, her eyes were drawn to the reddish marks scattered across her body.
The only silver lining was that they were in places that could be covered by clothing, reducing the risk of them being noticed. Still, until the marks faded completely, she’d have to avoid anyone’s assistance in the bath, making up whatever excuse she could.
“If it were summer, I could’ve blamed it on bug bites.”
One, two… five.
Counting them one by one in the mirror, she let out a long sigh.
“There are even bite marks?”
Of course, he’s practically a werewolf.
Involuntarily, she recalled how Richt had held her tightly that night, occasionally nipping at her skin in moments of heated passion. His fervent actions had left her breathless as he moved with intensity.
“…If I’d known, I should have gone with a drink.”
Every time she looked at these traces, memories branded into her mind began to resurface.
Memories of those clinging movements, lips that nibbled and held onto her like sweet candy, sharp teeth that gently grazed her skin.
“Maybe time will make it fade.”
She tried to shake it off, hoping to move on for her own sanity, but forgetting seemed harder than she anticipated. If anything, it seemed to have the opposite effect.
“Better get up. I feel a little lightheaded.”
Had she stayed in the bath too long? She felt a little suffocated in the steamy air and quickly finished her bath before returning to her bedroom.
“Oh! Milady, breakfast just arrived! Come eat before it gets cold!”
Mary, who had set the steaming soup on the table, welcomed Luciana.
“You know, you could have just left this all to me.”
As Mary handed her a towel, she expertly squeezed out the water from Luciana’s damp hair, chattering on as she did so.
“I can just sit by the fireplace for a bit, it’ll dry soon enough.”
“What are you saying? You could catch a cold that way!”
Already worried by how much time Luciana spent secluded in her study, Mary frowned.
“You haven’t been eating well because you’ve been so busy, but you’re eating well today?”
“I’m just… feeling a bit famished today, I guess.”
The truth was that she’d used up all her energy last night, but she wasn’t about to admit that, so she just played along.
“Please eat a lot! You’re already quite slender, so you need to keep your strength up!”
Mary continued to fuss over her until she’d finished her meal, apparently convinced Luciana looked more tired than usual.
“Wait a moment! You feel a bit warm. Are you feeling unwell, Milady?”
“Oh… really?”
It must have been a casual brush of Mary’s hand, but the maid immediately reached for Luciana’s forehead, looking alarmed.
“Did you feel cold last night? I made sure to put plenty of logs on the fire…”
“No, I think I’ve just been overworking myself lately. It’s really nothing serious, I promise.”
“Oh, Milady, you’re making me so worried! Just get back in bed, please. I’ll bring you a tea that’s good for colds.”
“Alright, I’ll leave it to you, then.”
Her body did feel heavy, so Luciana quietly accepted Mary’s suggestion and settled down.
