Even as he spoke, Robert looked at Ejnar with evident concern.
“Why did you send her?”
“What are you talking about all of a sudden?”
“About Ilenne!”

“Why did you suddenly send her to the Solar Palace?”
Ejnar couldn’t help but suppress a smile as he looked at Robert, who seemed to be quite irritated.
“So you’re asking me for a reason about something that falls under your jurisdiction, like the Solar Palace? It’s not my fault if things aren’t running smoothly in the inner palace.”
“Even so, this is ridiculous…”
Robert retorted with a grumbling tone.
“It doesn’t make sense that there’s not a single maid in the Central Palace.”
“There’s never been a maid in the Central Palace, Robert. Just the officials. Miss Haegan was an exception.”
“… That’s true.”
Robert looked increasingly frustrated as he struggled for words. Ejnar, finding the sight amusing, smiled slightly and added mockingly.
“Though there are no longer any misunderstandings about that. It would have been better for finding a match if she was working in the Central Palace.”
“What?”
“Well, since it’s only a temporary assignment. I’ll handle finding a match for Miss Haegan myself.”
Robert’s face turned various shades of red.
Ejnar had to work hard to suppress his laughter. It would have been even more amusing if Ilenne had been there, but that was a missed opportunity. He swallowed his comment about bringing Ilenne back after this matter was settled and teased further.
“Doesn’t Sir have any thoughts on marriage?”
“Not at all. At my age, what…?”
“You’re younger than me. What are you talking about?”
“No, it’s not about my marriage right now!”
Robert, whose face had turned even redder, hurriedly changed the subject.
“Is that really the only reason you sent Ilenne to the Solar Palace? Is there something more to it?”
Ejnar paused at the question.
Ilenne had asked a similar question earlier. It then occurred to Ejnar that his actions might have been misunderstood. For instance, if someone thought he was taking a personal interest in her…
Considering the absurdity of such suspicions, he stiffened his expression and asked.
“Do you think there’s another reason?”
“Maybe you sent Ilenne to the Solar Palace to torture me more with overtime work.”
“….”
Ejnar was momentarily at a loss for words as he looked at his foolish attendant. The ridiculous answer that had nearly turned serious made him sigh and eventually chuckle softly, shaking his head.
“Well, it seems I’ve been caught.”
“Your Majesty! Are you really going to do this?”
Ejnar just accepted Robert’s whining. Inside, he laughed at himself. After all, who would have such absurd suspicions?

Soon after, Marchioness Magnum requested an audience. As expected, Ejnar greeted her with calm composure.
“Greetings to His Majesty the King, the Sun of Machi, the Great Monarch, the Master of All Things.”
Her perfect etiquette contrasted with a somewhat disdainful expression. Her face was neither harsh nor pale but clearly carried a sense of dissatisfaction.
Ejnar naturally recalled Elfreda’s pale face.
While her appearance was like someone seriously ill despite saying otherwise, he swiftly dismissed the image from his mind and spoke.
“I heard you took a leave due to a cold.”
Though he hadn’t believed the initial story, the Marchioness looked perfectly fine, making the mention somewhat awkward. Nevertheless, he asked with genuine concern.
“How is your health now?”
“Did the Queen tell you?”
“Only the Queen would bring such news to me.”
A faint sound of the Marchioness grinding her teeth could be heard.
“You visit the Queen quite often.”
“Is it a problem if the King visits the Queen frequently?”
“Under normal circumstances, it wouldn’t be.”
The Marchioness’s eyes conveyed her displeasure as if to say, ‘You know what I mean.’ Ejnar stared at her with no expression, noticing the resentment in her gaze. It was clear she felt betrayed and disappointed as if to say, ‘How could you do this? Anyone, but you.’
