The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 97
Chapter 97
“Omegas have rights,” “Rise up and don’t submit,” “Let’s find freedom together”
…It was all drivel, not even worth a cursory glance. The butler nodded, seemingly in agreement with Graham’s assessment.
“It appears to be from the revolutionary group, Demonas. How shall we handle this, sir?”
“Just leave it. What good would this nonsense do for the starving masses? Do you think they can even read?” Graham scoffed, then chuckled darkly. “And what can those omegas do even if they band together? If they dare to attack, we’ll just round them up and starve them too. Even the most unruly beasts will obey when they’re hungry.”
“Wise words, Master. I’ll see to it.”
“Good. Is that all for today’s report?”
“Yes, sir.”
“You may leave.” Graham waved his hand dismissively, but the butler hesitated, gauging his expression.
“Um, Master…”
“What is it?”
“Well, tonight… could you perhaps grant me an omega…” the butler trailed off, his gaze falling upon the omegas scattered at Graham’s feet.
His eyes, like those of the unfed omegas, were filled with a desperate hunger. Graham laughed, amused by the butler’s blatant desire.
“Well, our butler has worked hard for three days. I suppose I can reward you for a night. Fine, take one.”
“Oh, thank you! Thank you so much, Master!”
Profusely grateful, the butler grabbed one of the omegas. Weak from hunger, the omega was dragged along without resistance. Still, a night with the butler meant a meager meal, so it wasn’t all bad.
Graham smiled contentedly, watching the butler depart. The wages he paid were paltry, but the occasional “gift” of an omega was enough to keep the butler devoted.
‘How efficient. How utterly practical.’ He thought, ‘Soon, I’ll have all the omegas, and all the alphas, under my thumb.’
Graham believed this implicitly. Right up until the moment, a month later, when his mansion exploded.
A sudden roar and a burst of flames. The mansion was surrounded by figures wielding torches and spears. Even as he watched, Graham couldn’t comprehend what was happening.
“The revolutionaries are attacking? Hah! They’re just omegas! One whiff of an alpha’s pheromones and they’ll be on their knees. Why is everyone panicking?”
“It seems… the pheromones have no effect on the revolutionaries. It’s as if they’ve all taken pheromone suppressants…” the butler stammered, his usual composure gone.
“Preposterous! How could they possibly acquire enough of that expensive, rare drug for so many?”
Graham’s agitation was understandable. His monopoly on pheromone suppressant technology was the foundation of his wealth.
“That’s what I find puzzling, but there’s no other explanation…”
“Damn it! And the fire? Why isn’t it being extinguished? Is no one even trying? My fortune is burning, and they’re just standing there!”
“Everyone is trying to put it out, sir, but… the water doesn’t seem to work. It’s as if it’s… magical fire…”
“That’s absurd! Only nobles can wield magic! How could omegas conjure magical fire?”
“That’s also what I find puzzling, but again, there’s no other explanation…”
“You incompetent fool! All you can say is ‘puzzling’ and ‘no other explanation’! Figure it out! Do something!”
