Chapter 9

Diabolus, who appeared before the Omegas one day and became their leader, organized the revolutionary group Demonas to fight for their liberation.

Very few within Demonas knew of her true identity.

She always wore a silver mask, so no one knew her face or even her gender. Some speculated that she was a woman due to her slender build, but it was also possible that she was a young boy in the midst of puberty.

All they knew was that she possessed extraordinary abilities, that she could reach even the deepest parts of the royal palace, and that she would always appear to save them whenever they were in danger.

They ran through the passage without obstruction, following the one who led the way.

She had been checking to see if there were more innocent victims, even in the midst of the chaos, in case they were prisoners in the prison. Fortunately, the underground prison of the Fourth Palace was rarely used, so it was empty until now.

However, Arlenrose saw a man lying on the floor. He was even a familiar figure.

She could recognize him at a glance. He had snow-white hair that was so white that one could guess he was an old man, but he had a muscular and well-proportioned body that would put many young men to shame. It was not common to find someone who possessed both of these contrasting qualities.

‘Sir Mark Fowards.’

Arlenrose gasped in surprise at the unexpected appearance of this man.

Sir Mark Fowards, the vice captain of the Crown Prince’s Knights, an old knight with an upright character. He was supposed to be assigned as her escort, so why was he locked up here?

“My name is Ray Luciana. Sir Mark Fowards has suddenly fallen ill, so I have come in his stead.”

The voice that clearly came to mind felt as if she had been hit in the back of her head.

“Lord Diabolus?”

The one who had been leading the way stopped, and those who were following her called out in confusion. Arlenrose quickly regained her composure from her confusion and organized her thoughts.

It would have been right to pretend not to know him in order to escape safely. However, she couldn’t do that. It wasn’t because Mark Fowards was innocent and shouldn’t die here. It was because she had something to confirm with him.

Fortunately, they were not far from their destination. It should be fine from here on out even without the wind that she had created. Arlenrose, who had come to that conclusion, looked back at them.

“Go ahead. From now on, just keep going right at the fork in the road. Once you get outside, a woman dressed as a maid of the royal palace will be waiting for you. Her name is Ras, and she is a spy for the revolutionary movement. She will guide you.”

She said it without looking towards the prison on purpose. Fortunately, they didn’t notice what Arlenrose was concerned about.

“Then what about Lord Diabolus….”

“I have something to take care of here.”

“Will you be alright on your own? If there’s anything we can do to help, we’ll do it.”

They bowed without any suspicion and started running again. Arlenrose, left alone, immediately checked the prison door.

The door was not locked. It meant that Mark Fowards was not normally imprisoned.

Arlenrose opened the door with a creak and went inside to check his condition. He was not moving, so she wondered if he was already dead, but he was breathing properly. As soon as she confirmed that fact, Arlenrose’s palm immediately slapped his cheek hard.

“Ugh…”

“Wake up, Sir Mark Fowards.”

Mark groaned and came to his senses, then his eyes widened in surprise as he faced the one who had awakened him.

“You, you……!”

It was a reaction that recognized Diabolus. As expected. Arlenrose bit her lip tightly and raised her body.

“This is not the time to ask for identification. If we don’t escape from here quickly, we’ll both die. Get up and run right now.”
