The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Mark only then felt the heat and smoke and looked around.
The veteran knight quickly assessed the situation and stood up without wasting time arguing or doubting. His steps were not as steady as usual, but he did not seem to need support. Arlenrose ran beside him without deliberately raising the wind.
“Why were you kept in such a place?”
“I don’t know. I was suddenly attacked by a group of strangers… I don’t remember anything after that.”
Mark, who had answered the question obediently, looked around with a suspicious expression.
“I thought it was Demonas’ doing… but it wasn’t?”
“No. What would we gain by doing such a thing?”
“Why not? You could have targeted the princess! I was supposed to escort her today.”
Ha! Arlenrose had to bite her lip to keep from showing her shock for a moment. Enrique had not lied after all.
Instead, Ray, the one whose true identity was unknown, had lied.
She should have thought more calmly. Enrique Vi Fleurose was a somewhat ill-tempered man, but he had basic common sense. There was no way he would have assigned a mere mercenary to escort the princess of a country.
“By any chance, was the stranger a redhead?”
“How did you know?”
Arlenrose felt like bursting into laughter at the veteran knight’s wide-eyed response.
‘Who the hell is he?’
She had found him suspicious from the beginning. So she had gotten rid of him early on.
However, the audacity to attack the vice captain of the Crown Prince’s Guard, throw him into an underground prison, and then appear before the princess as her escort was more than just a vague suspicion.
“If my guess is correct, he is our common enemy.”
“Hmm… Let’s leave it at that for now.”
Mark Fowards did not completely hide his suspicion, but he did not pursue it further. The exit was just ahead.
“From now on, let’s move separately…”
Arlenrose was about to bid farewell to Mark when she stopped. A corpse in a maid’s uniform was lying on the floor. The moment she realized it was Ras, a sword flew in with a whoosh.
Clang!
The sound of metal clashing against metal rang out. Mark Fowards, who had stepped in front of Arlenrose, had deflected the incoming blade. He gritted his teeth as he deflected all the incoming blades.
“Common enemy… Yes, I think that’s right.”
The redhead mercenary wielding the sword opposite him, Ray Luciana, burst into laughter.
“How interesting. You pretend to be so upright, old man, but in reality, you are in cahoots with the head of Demonas?”
“Cahoots, you bastard! I have been loyal to Fleurose all my life. What nonsense are you talking about?!”
“If you’re not in cahoots, you shouldn’t be blocking me, but attacking them together. Right?”
“That’s funny! I’d rather side with the head of Demonas than with the bastard who attacked me out of nowhere and threw me in prison!”
Mark roared, but his breath hitched as the gap between the swords narrowed.
“Ugh…!”
His hands, which were blocking the sword coming down from above, trembled. Even though Mark was not in his usual condition, he was not an ordinary swordsman to be able to corner Mark to this extent.
This was dangerous.
Arlenrose took a step forward to help Mark, then he turned around and glared at her.
“What are you doing? Hurry up and go!”
“But…”
Arlenrose hesitated at the unexpected shout, and Mark shouted again.
“Since ancient times, a knight should not live in debt. I owe you. I’ll think about the rest after I have paid off all those debts!”
“Ah…”
The veteran knight fighting for his life, and her comrades running away without a guide. Arlenrose, who was torn between the two, eventually turned around with her eyes shut tight.
“Please stay alive, Sir Mark Fowards!”
“Of course I will!”
Shortly after she started running again, Arlenrose caught up with the revolutionaries.
They were in a state of panic from the sudden ambush, but as soon as they found their leader, they called her.
“Lord Diabolus!”
“As soon as we got outside, we were ambushed and Ras just…!”
Arlenrose nodded, holding back a sigh.
“I know. He was the man with red hair, right?”
“Yes…?”
It was a puzzled response. The moment Arlenrose’s eyes widened in sudden horror, the shadow of a tall man appeared behind them.
“No. That man’s hair was brown…”
Thump, her heart sank.
In the darkness, it was impossible to distinguish the color of his hair.
However, Arlenrose could recognize him anywhere, anytime. There was no way she wouldn’t recognize the being that her heart reacted to the moment she sensed him.
Her unrequited love and knight escort.
Carmin Modreo was there.
