The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 55
Chapter 55
“Your Highness.”
Arlenrose’s face brightened as a shadow fell over her. It was Camin, who had approached her without her noticing. He was smiling gently.
“Sir Camin. When did you arrive?”
“Just now. I should’ve been here earlier, but the preparations took longer than expected.”
“I understand. The maids said they put their heart and soul into it. You look truly magnificent today.”
“Thank you. You too are truly beautiful, Your Highness.”
Camin’s smile deepened as he brushed his fingers against the flower adorning Arlenrose’s head.
“The Lisianthus suits you perfectly. Perhaps it’s because your beauty resembles the rose.”
Arlenrose’s face flushed at his words.
It was strange. When the maids had said the same thing, or when she had been so close to Leybid, she hadn’t felt anything. But with Camin, just this much was enough to make her heart flutter and her mind race.
What on earth is love? It was a question that came to her mind every time she faced Camin, but Arlenrose had yet to find an answer. She only knew that the feeling was incredibly strange.
It was an emotion that shook her to her core, turning all logic upside down.
As if that weren’t enough, Camin added another layer to her turmoil.
“I wanted to greet Your Highness first, but I saw you were dancing with the Crown Prince, so I waited. It’s the first time I’ve seen you dance, Your Highness. It’s quite a novelty.”
“Ah… is that so?”
Arlenrose replied, flustered. Camin bowed and extended his hand towards her.
“Yes. And so, speaking of which… would you grant me the honor of being your dance partner?”
It was a dance request from the man who was more like a prince than the prince himself. Arlenrose swallowed hard and looked at Camin before her.
This was the second time Camin had asked her to dance. Both then and now, her heart sank. She felt dizzy with excitement, as if flowers were blooming all around her, and yet…
She was so bewildered.
As much as she hated to admit it, Leybid was right.
He had probably asked her to dance as a form of entertainment, but for her, it couldn’t be just that. If she danced with him, she would be in trouble.
But what could she do?
Arlenrose had no choice but to accept. Just as she had before, and even now, at this very moment.
“It would be my honor, Sir Camin Modreau.”
The smile that rose to her face was simply natural, as if the fierce conflict within her didn’t exist. Her hand gracefully reached out and landed softly on Camin’s.
Arlenrose was led by Camin’s hand back to the center of the hall. It was the princess’s second dance, and her partner was the kingdom’s most prominent nobleman, so it was enough to be the main event once again.
Although Camin Modreau was the second son without a title, he represented the family in place of Duke Modreau, who rarely left his territory, and his eldest son.
“…Ah.”
Arlenrose, who had belatedly remembered the existence of Crescent Modreau, quickly scanned the ballroom with her eyes.
“Come to think of it, I heard that Sir Crescent was attending the ball today. Is he here yet?”
Camin, who was looking down at her, continued to smile gently.
“He won’t be able to attend.”
“Oh, why not?”
“He was in a carriage accident on his way here. It seems like it will be delayed by a few days.”
“Oh my… is he badly injured?”
“I’ll have to receive more information to know for sure, but I don’t think so. If it were life-threatening, he wouldn’t have been able to send a handwritten letter.”
“I see….”
Camin’s tone was calm when he delivered the news of his own brother’s accident. He didn’t seem overly concerned, but neither did he seem particularly happy or relieved about the absence.
He, to his brother Crescent, had always been like this. He didn’t hate him, but he didn’t like him either. He wasn’t angry, but he wasn’t happy either.
However, no one dared to point fingers at Camin for being cold-hearted. Everyone knew how much Crescent had tormented his younger brother, so they considered Camin to be an adult just for that.
“So, Your Highness.”
Camin’s large hand wrapped around Arlenrose’s waist. He pulled her closer and whispered in her ear.
