The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 50
Chapter 50
“Of course. Commander would just let it go. However, the people around him are making a fuss. The attendants in charge of his attire are currently putting all their effort into dressing him up. They say he needs to overpower everyone with his outfit.”
“Ah…”
Arlenrose burst out laughing as she could imagine the scene.
While Camin was popular, he was also very indifferent to his own appearance, so the people around him would often take extreme care of him. The vice-captain, Baker Dane, who was standing right next to him, was the same. Officially, he respected him as his commander, but privately, he worried about him and tried to take care of him like a nephew.
Most of the people who sided with Camin saw Arlenrose as an obstacle, but the knights, including Vice-Captain Baker, did not. This was because they were the Royal Guard. On the contrary, they were grateful to Arlenrose for allowing them to be with someone as great as Camin Modreo.
That’s why Arlenrose also felt comfortable treating the knights of the Royal Guard casually.
“Commander Camin will be very handsome tonight.”
“Yes. You can look forward to it.”
The two of them laughed as they exchanged words that were half-joking, half-expectant. Their steps were heading towards the ballroom.
* * *
The grand ballroom was already abuzz with activity. The towering, expansive hall, adorned with countless crystal chandeliers, was filled with the sweet melodies of an orchestra. Nobles, dressed in finery as vibrant as peacocks, bustled between long tables laden with dishes that exuded both savory and sweet aromas.
While the debauchery that would soon unfold in various corners was yet to come, the atmosphere was still restrained, with everyone pretending to be cultured as they exchanged pleasantries. Until now, Arlenrose had managed to maintain a relaxed demeanor, simply observing the scene.
Her elegant eyes, which were usually fixed on her wine glass, darted to the side. The violet orbs, which normally remained emotionless, were flitting around the room today, scanning the crowd.
The reason was simple: curiosity about Camin Modreo.
She couldn’t help but be curious about how the man, for whom the stewards had put in so much effort to outshine everyone else, would appear tonight. Since Camin always wore the Knights uniform, it was rare to see him adorned in the splendor befitting a nobleman, making Arlenrose even more intrigued.
However, much to her disappointment, Arlenrose couldn’t find the person she was looking for. Instead, someone she had desperately tried to erase from her memory appeared before her eyes, someone she never wanted to see again.
His arrival was preceded by the resounding announcement of the chamberlain:
“His Imperial Highness, Leybid de Valenti Luversiana, Crown Prince of the Luversiana Empire!”
It was only natural, as the ball was also a celebration in honor of the Crown Prince’s visit.
He walked in, stepping onto the long red carpet that stretched from the entrance to the throne.
Today, Leybid looked every bit the Crown Prince.
It wasn’t just his sculpted, handsome face, his golden hair that shimmered like intricately crafted gold, or his piercing blue eyes that seemed to hold sapphires within them. It wasn’t the colorful jewels that sparkled on his neat black formal attire, nor the crimson cloak adorned with gold thread that fluttered around him.
Leybid possessed an aura that overwhelmed the crowd. His every step, neither too fast nor too slow, exuded natural grace, and his every movement, however casual, was undeniably elegant.
Most overwhelming of all was his arrogant gaze, which looked down on everyone while maintaining a subtle smile. He wore an expression that would make even the most oblivious person recognize him as the Crown Prince.
How could a human being be like that?
Arlenrose forced herself to remain expressionless, clenching the muscles in her face as Leybid approached. The sight of him, so different from the man who had fawned over her and pestered her, made Arlenrose feel like her insides were rotting.
“On behalf of the Kingdom of Fleurose, I sincerely welcome His Imperial Highness Leybid de Valenti Luversiana, the Little Sun of the Luversiana Empire.”
“It is an honor to be welcomed by His Royal Highness Enrique de Fleurose, the Star of the Kingdom of Fleurose.”
At the end of the red carpet, Enrique, who had his back to the throne, greeted him. As the two men shook hands, spontaneous applause erupted from all around.
Amidst the spectacle, Arlenrose gritted her teeth again. His lips, as if possessed by a will of their own, kept trying to curl into a smirk, much to ger annoyance.
They had said it was about outshining everyone else.
If it were truly possible to achieve that through appearance, attire, and bearing, then the kingdom had just been defeated.
