The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 107
Chapter 107
The cookie quickly disappeared into Leybid’s mouth. The instant it left her fingertips, Arlenrose retrieved her hand. Such brief contact, yet a shiver ran down her spine, raising goosebumps. It felt strangely more intimate than all the messy, intense acts they had shared.
“Mmm, delicious.” Leybid hummed in satisfaction, washing down the cookie with a sip of cooled tea. She recalled him being particular, demanding freshly boiled tea at the slightest drop in temperature, yet now, he seemed unconcerned. Surely, the cookie wasn’t payment enough. So, what was?
Arlenrose waited for him to ask for something more, but he showed no such inclination. Well, she wasn’t about to offer anything further if he didn’t want it. Having settled that, Arlenrose picked up another cookie.
“Why did you provoke Enrique from the start with all that talk of etiquette? If you hadn’t, he wouldn’t have been so sarcastic.”
Leybid’s eyes widened. “That was the reason?”
“Yes.”
“He’s ridiculous. He acted all magnanimous on the surface, but secretly held a grudge and got his revenge by being sarcastic about something else?”
“He’s always been like that. He wants to be a bold emperor, but his personality is undeniably… petty.” Arlenrose’s cheeks flushed as she spoke of her brother’s flaws, trailing off. She couldn’t understand why she felt this way, especially since she didn’t particularly like Enrique.
“Anyway, you shouldn’t have provoked him. There’s no benefit in upsetting Enrique. You should’ve just let it go.” She was grateful that Leybid had taken her side and, for the first time, secured an apology from Enrique. However, no matter how she looked at it, it was an irrational act that wouldn’t benefit her in the future. At her words, Leybid crossed his arms, a skeptical look on his face.
“I don’t think so.”
“Your Highness.”
“I don’t even consider it a provocation. It was a perfectly reasonable observation. How much does he disregard you to barge in like that?”
“It’s not the first time Enrique has acted this way.”
“Then that’s even more of a problem.”
“He won’t change just because he’s called out on it. In fact, after Your Highness returns to the Empire, he’ll probably be even worse out of spite…” Arlenrose could already picture Enrique tormenting her, claiming she’d been hiding behind the crown prince. She sighed wearily, pressing her fingers to her temples.
“Worse? What, is he that petty? Wait… so you’ll be in a more difficult position after I return to the Empire?”
“It’s fine. It won’t be that difficult. Now, he mostly just nags, so I just have to endure it.”
“Now…? So, what did he do before?”
“Well, he usually locked me in the closet and starved me. He hasn’t done that since I became an adult…”
Arlenrose thought to herself that the reason Enrique no longer confined her to the closet wasn’t out of respect for her as an adult, but simply because she had grown too large to fit comfortably. Confining her elsewhere was out of the question for the timid Enrique. Locking her in a storage room, where others might stumble upon her, risked exposing her omega status, which would be disastrous.
While Arlenrose calmly entertained these thoughts, Leybid was practically fuming. “So, he starved a child? That’s insane… Were you very hungry?”
“Of course, I was hungry. But back then, the hunger was less bothersome than the… the heat from not being able to take my suppressants.”
“That’s torture! How could someone do that to their own sibling?” Leybid’s outrage escalated, slamming his fist on the table. Arlenrose blinked, startled by his unexpected anger.
