The Obsessive Male Lead Is Jealous Of My Doll - Chapter 34
17 — 2
Joseph laughed as he threw back tiny snowballs at Stella, not even a fraction of the size of what Stella had thrown at him. Later, even Gemma joined in, and it became a battle between his husband and wife.
“Hahaha!”
Stella, grinning from ear to ear, had the most joyful expression she had ever seen on her face.
‘Yeah. Kids should grow up running around and playing like that. It’s a bit disappointing that she doesn’t have any friends her own age to play with.’
Karentina felt pleased at the sight of Stella smiling happily.
Before they knew it, the promised hour with Gemma had flown by. Although the child wanted to play more, her face and ears were already bright red.
“Your Highness, shall we go inside and take a bath now? You might catch a cold if you play anymore.”
“But I want to play more…”
Karentina whispered softly, trying to soothe Stella, who was stamping her feet and refusing to go in.
“Even though I have Velda’s special chocolate cake waiting for us?”
The child’s head perked up at the mention of chocolate cake.
“I’ll go in.”
Stella, still wearing her fur gloves, tightly held onto her hand.
‘How cute.’
Stella’s eyes widened like a rabbit’s.
“Ah, it’s Zion!”
When Karentina looked up, she saw Zion walking towards them. Stella seemed to like Zion, who resembled Ignis, so she quickly ran over and hugged him tightly.
[ Uuaaaak! Karen, get her off me! ]
Karentina looked at Zion with envious eyes. It was because of etiquette that she couldn’t hug Stella first.
‘I want to hug her, too.’
Zion, who was frozen like a statue, trembled as he finally opened his mouth.
“M-Master, you have a visitor.”
“A guest?”
“He’s a priest from the temple. Eddie came with him as well.”
Karentina turned her body towards the castle gate at his words. As she gave her permission, the gate soon opened. A carriage bearing the emblem of the temple slowly entered the castle grounds. She noticed a priest she hadn’t seen before and Eddie descending from the carriage at the entrance.
After entrusting Stella to Gemma, she hurriedly approached Eddie.
“Sister!”
As Eddie greeted her warmly, the novice priest beside him cautioned him.
“My apologies, Princess. It seems like he’s still not fully accustomed to the formalities of addressing nobility, as the training of our priesthood hasn’t been fully established yet.”
Karentina waved her hand at the novice priest, who bowed deeply.
“He’s not a stranger, and Eddie is my friend. Please don’t be so hard on him.”
Eddie’s face instantly brightened when the word ‘friend’ came out.
‘Uh?’
Her eyes widened.
It seemed that in the time they hadn’t seen each other, Eddie’s appearance had changed so much. He was dressed in a thick winter coat and warm fur boots, and had gained a little weight, probably because he was eating well and sleeping well. Above all, the child’s green eyes were overflowing with life.
She lowered her gaze to Eddie’s and gave him a happy smile.
“Eddie, how have you been? What brings you here?”
The novice priest, who had been staring at her blankly, quickly conveyed his business.
“I’ve actually come to deliver letters from the children.”
“Letters?”
“They are letters I wrote with my friends to thank my sister for the donation you made.”
Eddie’s face lit up with joy, his eyes sparkling like jewels.
“I could have just sent them as regular correspondence, but this child really wants to meet the Princess. So, I thought it would be best to visit in person.”
Karentina opened the letter the novice priest had handed her. There was even a thank you note written in crooked letters and drawings of her that she had never seen before. Looking at them, her heart swelled as her nose tingled with emotion.
“Thank you. They’re lovely drawings and letters.”
She gently stroked the child’s head.
“Isn’t it inconvenient to stay in the temple?”
Eddie shook his head and answered in a cheerful voice.
“It’s so big that I’m busy playing hide and seek with the kids.”
“That’s really fortunate. Oh! Since you’ve come all the way here, have some tea as well.”
The novice priest shook his head with an embarrassed expression.
“I need to start preparing for the evening service soon, so we should head back now. Eddie has been a great help.”
Saying so, he looked down at Eddie with a look of pride.
“Please visit at your leisure next time. I’ll prepare some delicious tea and refreshments. Eddie, come again next time.”
“Thank you for your understanding, Princess Lorraine.”
Karentina gently stroked Eddie’s head again as he looked disappointed.
Karentina turned her back as she watched the novice priest and Eddie leave. At that moment, a small figure suddenly jumped out in front of her.
“You surprised me!”
She swept away her frightened heart.
Stella, whom she thought had gone back to her room, was standing there with a fierce expression, glaring at the departing carriage.
“Who is that boy?”
Karentina blinked her eyes at the coldness in her voice.
