Chapter 93.1

He paused for a moment before confessing, “That’s not true. I received a few confessions in school, but I rejected them all.”

“Why?”

“They weren’t sincere. It was obvious. If I had accepted, they would have mocked me.”

‘Mock him? I doubt that. They probably confessed because they were captivated by his face…’

Reasonable doubt arose, but his serious expression prevented her from arguing. Since she hadn’t witnessed it herself, Carinne decided to stay silent.

“Even after graduation, I received a few letters from noble families with unsavory reputations.”

“What kind of rumors are you talking about?”

“Rumors that the head of the family favors men.”

“Aha…”

As expected.

He might not know he was handsome, but it was difficult for others not to notice. The fact that he even received letters from strangers said it all. Word must have spread discreetly. Archen’s handsomeness was apparently well-known among those in the know.

“Why would they send letters to an ordinary person like me unless they were desperate?”

Archen, on the other hand, seemed completely oblivious.

‘An ordinary person? How humble.’ No, ‘handsome young man’ was more like it. Or better yet, a single, dewy, pure white lily. This was a man who won first place in a beauty contest, a beauty contest meant for women.

This was a feat rarely seen even in novels.

“Wow. I didn’t know you were so popular.”

Carinne playfully poked his chest. He awkwardly rubbed his face with his hand.

“That’s not what I meant.”

“Oh, come on, just admit it. You get confessions because you’re handsome.”

Despite her teasing, Archen refused to acknowledge his good looks. He seemed to think she was joking. In that case, she needed to be louder.

In a clear, strong voice, Carinne exclaimed, using descriptive adjectives and elegant modifiers to emphasize his handsomeness.

“Ah, you’re handsome! Incredibly, unbelievably handsome! The most handsome man in the world is lying next to me!”

“Someone might hear. Please stop.”

He covered her mouth, then, as she continued to chatter, he covered his face with both hands. His flushed face clearly indicated his embarrassment.

Such an innocent man. Handsome, cute, and easily blushing—he was perfect from head to toe. How did she manage to snag him?

She must have saved a country in her past life. Perhaps even revived a failing nation and made it the greatest in the world. There was no other way to explain such good fortune. Carinne grinned, rolling onto her side until she was right next to Archen.

She stretched out her arms and hugged him.

“I’m so lucky to have you, Archen.”

His shirt was half-unbuttoned. The soft skin against hers felt good.

Buried under the covers, holding his warm body close, she felt as relaxed as if she were soaking in a hot spring. She nuzzled her face into his broad chest and inhaled, and he let out a low chuckle as if he couldn’t help it.

“If that’s the case, then I must be the luckiest man in the world. To have met you, Your Highness.”

His words were so sweet.

Carinne wanted to nibble on him, but she kept that thought to herself. Acting on it risked escalating things more than necessary.

“Let’s just say we’re both lucky.”

“Alright. My lady and I are both lucky.”

“Good… Wait, wait a minute. Say that again.”

It felt like she’d bitten into a stone while eating. She’d heard it countless times before. So, why did it bother her now? Was it because their intimacy had progressed, so their titles should too? But so suddenly?

Truthfully, Carinne couldn’t understand her own feelings. It just bothered her.

“We’re both lucky…that’s what you mean?”

“No, before that.”

“I don’t understand what you mean.”

“Say my name.”

Since Archen didn’t seem to understand, Carinne was more direct. Confused, he did as he was told.

“My lady.”

That was it.

“How long are you going to call me ‘My lady’? Call me by my name. I have a beautiful name, Carinne.”

She wanted him to say her name. She wanted him to pronounce ‘Carinne’ in his elegant, melodious voice. It would make her so happy. She waited with wide eyes for his answer, but he only hesitated.

Carinne nudged his cheek, prompting him, and he lowered his gaze.

“How can I address you by name so casually?”

How frustrating.

Was this the Joseon era? A society with a rigid class system? …Well, it was a society with a class system. Still, they were together now, he should call her by her name!

Carinne coaxed him gently, “Come on, say it. Carinne.”

“.…”

“Do you want tonight to be the first and last time?”

“Lady…”

Finally, after her thinly veiled threat, he spoke.

“…Carinne.”

“Can you drop the ‘Lady’ too?”

Seeing his troubled expression, that seemed to be too much. She could probably get what she wanted with another threat, but she didn’t want to force him. Forcing it wouldn’t feel right. Carinne decided to be content with ‘Lady Carinne’ for now.

“Okay. Lady Carinne, it is. It’s much better than ‘my lady’.”

Carinne patted his head approvingly. Archen lay quietly, accepting her caress, then spoke.

“My lad… Lady Carinne.”
