Chapter 92.2

The small realization soon spread into a large ripple. Like the rising dawn, a mischievous smile appeared on his face.

“Did I happen to make the princess wait?”

His sapphire eyes sparkled with mischief. He was so infuriating.

To realize so late and then act innocent. But at least he finally understood, didn’t he?

Carinne smiled brightly, then quickly put it away and replied curtly as if she was upset.

“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that, so hurry up and hug me again. You know where we’re going, right?”

“Of course.”

He smiled and picked Carinne up. Judging by the way he was climbing the stairs, it was clear that he had understood.

Finally!

Finally!

People of the world, look at this!

Carried in his arms, she was brought across the hallway, her heart pounding so fiercely it felt as though it might burst.

Carinne gulped, feeling as if her long-awaited wish was finally coming true.

Although they had been lovers, confessed their love for one another, and shared the same home, it still felt a little lacking to say that they belonged to each other. However, from this moment on, everything would change. Starting today, this man was completely hers.

* * *

Archen’s hair carried the scent of lavender.

Carinne buried her nose in the curve of his neck, inhaling the fragrant aroma deeply, savoring it to her heart’s content. In this moment, everything felt perfect. The warmth of his arm around her, the fresh scent of his body lingering on his chest, and the soft touch of the thick duvet against her skin—it was all so pleasant.

Carinne moaned in happiness.

A slender, pale fingertip caressed the edge of Carinne’s forehead, then ruffled her hair, twirled it around, and tucked it behind her ear.

“I thought I was the strange one all this time.”

“It was perfectly normal.”

Come to think of it, this man wasn’t clueless. He just lacked confidence. He had been hoping for the same thing as Carinne but had been denying it, thinking, ‘The princess could never want me!’

Where had she seen that before?

That was right. It was exactly the same as what he had said before they started dating, ‘The princess could never like me!’

People wouldn’t change easily, and that saying was spot on.

How much more love would she need to give him? How much time would have to pass before he realized she loved him just as deeply as he loved her?

It wasn’t that she was annoyed or tired of it. People didn’t change easily, though that didn’t mean they couldn’t change at all. He would gradually change over time.

The only thing that disappointed her was that he didn’t recognize his own worth. He didn’t see that he was more than deserving of love. She would shower him with affection until he realized the truth. If he had a basket, she would fill it to overflowing; if he had a bowl, she would fill it until it spilled over.

With that decision made, Carinne gazed into his serene eyes. His blue eyes, brimming with affection, were as clear as the moon reflected on a still lake.

It felt like she could fall into them and swim.

“I really didn’t know.”

A faint smile played on Archen’s lips. His gaze fell on the half-slipped nightgown strap, and he reached out to put it back on her shoulder.

“I never thought you would think that way….”

Carinne pursed her lips as she pulled up the nightgown strap. He couldn’t be the only one who thought that way. He was a young man with the same desires as Carinne. It felt like he was being coy.

“You didn’t think that way?”

“You’d be surprised.”

He burst into a cheerful laugh at the sight of Carinne’s dropped jaw.

“I felt it every night.”

So, she wasn’t the only one. Carinne was relieved and asked, pretending to be curious.

“But why did you do that?”

She wanted to have a serious conversation with him about the issue. That way, he wouldn’t make the same mistake again, and she could help boost his self-esteem in the process.

However, he just looked at her with a serene expression without answering.

The evening had arrived, and the room was dim since they hadn’t turned on the lights. Yet it wasn’t so dark that she couldn’t make out the expression on his face. For a fleeting moment, Carinne sensed an inexplicable sadness in his silence. But just as quickly, it disappeared, replaced by his usual gentle demeanor and a faint smile.

“It suddenly happened. It was my first time, so I didn’t know what was what.”

The moment she heard that, her determination to have a serious talk vanished.

“Your first time?”

“Yes.”

“Really? With that face?”

“Yes… What’s wrong with my face?”

Oh, right. This guy was a guy who didn’t know he was handsome.

Carinne reminded herself once again that he was innocent. Still, even if he didn’t know he was handsome, it would be hard for others not to notice, and it was hard to believe that it had gone unnoticed while attending a co-ed academy.

“No one has ever told you you’re good-looking? Besides me.”

“No one.”

“Really? Not even one person?”

Carinne asked again, wondering if there couldn’t be at least one person. If he had never received a confession with that face, then the Seven Wonders of the World should be eight instead of seven.

He looked troubled as Carinne pressed him.
