The Male Lead’s Sickly Aide is My Type - Chapter 111.1
Chapter 111.1
That afternoon, following the banquet, the tea party room buzzed with chatter about the latest newsletter.
“Have you seen today’s newsletter?”
Someone asked.
“Of course! I was probably the first in the capital to see it. I queued outside the printers since dawn.”
The lively conversation came to an abrupt halt as Carinne entered the room. Smiling knowingly at the suddenly silent crowd, she spoke.
“Feel free to continue. I’ve been keeping up with it as well.”
Reassured, the room erupted in chatter once more.
“It’s wonderful that the Princess has found someone new!”
One exclaimed.
“I found the scene where she mocks her penniless ex-lover so satisfying!”
Then, another person chimed in.
“The writer is a genius! This story is so entertaining.”
“And their pen name, ‘Hopping Rabbit,’ is just adorable!”
Amidst the excited discussion, a noblewoman turned to Carinne.
“Do you happen to know who the author is, Your Highness?”
The author’s identity was the talk of the town. Everyone was desperate to know who could craft such an engaging narrative, leaving readers hanging at the most tantalizing moments.
It was a closely guarded secret.
The guild responsible for the newsletter only revealed the pen name, ‘Hopping Rabbit,’ offering no further details. Some suspected an inside job, but the guild members vehemently denied any knowledge, shaking their heads in bewildered ignorance.
They truly were in the dark. Only three people knew the truth.
Placing her teacup silently on the saucer, Carinne replied.
“No, I’m afraid I don’t. However, I would like to express my gratitude to whoever they are. They’ve provided us with such an enjoyable story.”
Inwardly, however, she recalled the previous night’s events.
“Carinne, what should happen next in the story?”
“Let me see. Where did we leave off?”
“The celebrity entrusted his entire fortune to his mistress, and his original lover, after breaking up with him, inherited the title.”
“I’ve got it! The mistress runs off with the money, leaving the celebrity destitute and out on the streets.”
“Perfect!”
Iris grinned, her hand flying across the page. Carinne watched her with a warmth akin to a parent’s pride.
Carinne’s initial plan, conceived during the emergency meeting, had been to subtly discredit the news articles, making them seem unreliable. She hadn’t envisioned anything so elaborate, just a few outlandish stories slipped into the newsletter.
But after a brief discussion with Iris, her plan had taken a dramatic turn.
“You and Sir Giles? That would be interesting!”
“What?”
“It seems like such an unlikely pairing, which would make the breakup all the more entertaining.”
The breakup. Entertaining.
A spark ignited in Carinne’s mind. She eagerly outlined her revised plan to Iris and Archen. Iris, thrilled at the prospect of writing a novel, readily agreed.
Archen, however…
“Absolutely not.”
His refusal was immediate and firm.
“Why not? It would be quite amusing to see Sir Giles end up utterly ruined.”
“But it involves you being romantically involved with him. I don’t like it.”
While Archen crossed his arms defensively, Iris, who had been listening intently, interjected.
“The aide could be a character, too! He could be the Princess’s childhood friend, who comforts her after the heartbreak and their relationship blossoms into romance.”
She continued, her excitement growing.
“And through him, the Princess realizes her true feelings. She may have been with Sir Giles, but deep down, she always loved her aide.”
Archen seemed particularly struck by the phrase, ‘deep down, she always loved her aide.’
“So that’s her type? A true romantic at heart.”
“Romance isn’t a bad thing.”
And so, Carinne secured Archen’s reluctant agreement. Iris, fueled by inspiration, produced two chapters’ worth of material on the spot, her years of avid reading finally paying off.
