Chapter 243

Radis quickly composed herself and stared at the enemy before her.
She was honestly surprised.
Rollard’s words were right.
Mana was a realm permitted only to those who faced the sword with all their heart and soul.
Perhaps Radis had been underestimating the knight before her too much, thinking his intentions and arrogance made him less than he was.
“Indeed.”
Radis continued in a calm voice, touching the blade of Regia with her left hand.
“Everyone has different missions, beliefs, burdens, and aspirations. Perhaps there is no right or wrong in that.”
Her fingertips slowly caressed the blade of Regia.
From where her hand touched, golden sparks flew, creating a brilliant white sword energy.
This time, Rollard’s eyes widened.
“W-What is that? Sword energy…?”
Radis, enveloped in the white sword energy, took her stance with Regia in hand.
She quietly said,
“If you only assert your own beliefs without any consideration for others, you’ll end up hurting them.”
“Shut the hell up…!”
Rollard’s face was the epitome of disbelief.
He couldn’t believe his eyes. A no-name female knight from the south couldn’t possibly be a master.
It was unthinkable. More impossible than the sky falling.
So, he chose not to believe it.
“Where did you learn such tricks…!”
Rollard swung his sword with all his might.
His mana-filled sword emitted a pale blue light as it surged forward.
Radis also raised her sword, more like placing it against his than truly facing him.
The sharp ends of both swords clashed in mid-air.
Screeeeech!
The sound of metal tearing through the air echoed.
Rollard’s sword split vertically as if it were mere parchment.
Rollard gasped as he watched his sword split into two right before his eyes.
“Ugh…!”
But he couldn’t overcome the momentum of his own charge in heavy armor.
Radis, standing with her red hair billowing, her eyes as serene as the darkness of night.
In contrast, the incandescent light at the tip of her sword she offered seemed almost sacred in its brilliance.
That radiant light overwhelmed Rollard.
He couldn’t help but scream his last.
“A-Ahhhhh!”
Crash!
The tip of Regia’s sword stuck into the hilt of Rollard’s sword.
Radis let out a short sigh.
Then, the white sword energy fluttered like petals before disappearing.
Radis spoke,
“Sir Rollard.”
“Ugh, aaah…!”
Having tasted the fear of death, Rollard was out of his senses.
Radis allowed him to regain his composure by withdrawing Regia’s tip from the hilt and sheathing her sword.
Holding the two split parts of his sword, Rollard collapsed weakly to the ground.
Radis sheathed Regia and approached him.
She knelt on one knee before him, meeting his gaze before speaking,
“I apologize once again for any offense I made unto you.”
“U-Ugh…”
“I have seen your resolve as well. Perhaps our intentions will continue to differ… But still, I hope that instead of clashing swords sharply, a day will come when we can sit together and share our stories.”
“……!”
“It was an honor to cross swords with you.”
Radis rose and extended her hand to Rollard.
In a daze, he grasped her hand.
In the next moment, he stood up firmly.
Then, a murmur of cheers began to spread from the stands.
“……?”
Radis looked around.
It seemed that the crowd’s attention had shifted from Xenon and Robert’s duel to the duel between Rollard and Radis at some point.
One by one, the spectators were rising from their seats, shouting and cheering.
“Master—!”
“There are two masters!”
“Cardia!”
“Cardia!”
“Russell!”
“Russell!”
Then someone bellowed in rage.
“Lebeloia, how disgraceful!”
“To seriously challenge a candidate and then lose, what a disgrace!”
“Disgraceful Lebeloia!”
“A duel with someone not even wearing armor? What has Xenon been teaching?!”
Then someone climbed onto the fence separating the stands from the arena and shouted loudly.
“Xenon doesn’t deserve to be a master!”
“Not at all!”
“Return the seal!”
Standing quietly and listening to the crowd’s shouts, Radis finally realized why Robert had been so aggressive toward Sir Xenon.
Radis smiled broadly and waved her hands.
“Everyone, well done! Keep going!”
Whether her voice was heard was unclear, but the stands were now a complete frenzy of excitement.
