“Radis, Radis. I’m sorry. It’s all my fault…!”
His voice was hoarse as he whispered his apologies.
Trapped in Yves’s firm arms, Radis could do nothing but freeze, her pupils shaking.
She couldn’t understand why Yves was acting this way.
‘What’s Yves’s fault? The bad guy who imposed the Geas on Master is that vile Emperor, and the one who deceived me is also the Emperor.’
However, she couldn’t bring herself to say that when she was standing right at the steps of the emperor’s palace, under the watchful eyes of the knights of the White Dragon Order.
Radis sighed shortly and then opened her arms to hug Yves.
She embraced him with all her might, even patting his broad, hunched back.
“It’s okay.”
At Radis’s words, Yves nuzzled his cheek against her hair and whispered in her ear, voice trembling so much that it almost sounded like he was sobbing.
“Yes, it’s okay. I’ll… I’ll somehow do something about it. Don’t be afraid of the Geas. There’s no need to. Even if it takes a lifetime, I’ll definitely find a way to break it. Even if I become like my father, it doesn’t matter. Whether it’s the Magic Tower or the dark sorcerers, I’ll turn everything upside down just to find a way…!”
Although Yves seemed to be completely missing the point, Radis couldn’t help but be moved by his pained, heartfelt words.
As Radis was patting his back, she moved her arms up to embrace his neck tightly.
She felt his soft hair fall over his sturdy neck, twining it around her fingers.
Then, Yves let out a pained groan.
His hot breath made her short bangs flutter.
The next moment, slightly rough lips touched her forehead.
Those lips felt so hot it seemed to scorch her throat.
“Radis.”
His lips, always soft and well hydrated, were now dry and rough.
The realization that it was his concern for her that caused this made the sensation unbearably lovable to her.
Without realizing it, Radis closed her eyes and rubbed her nose against his chin.
It was just like how small animals did, conveying silent, tender affection with that gesture. At that, Yves Russel let out a pained sound, as if stabbed by a knife.
“Radis, you….”
From deep within his chest, barely, with gritted teeth and all his might, the ember he had been suppressing burst into flames, crackling and spreading like a wildfire.
The flames that had been suppressed until now, once released, were unstoppable.
He had to watch, as if helpless, the brilliant flames running across a desolate plain, with ecstatic eyes.
The flames began to burn away the negative emotions that had been relentless in his mind, one by one.
The anxiety of whether this was okay.
The guilt of having led her down this path, and the resulting intense self-loathing.
As these burned away, the empty space they left was filled with a flood of feelings for her.
He realized he could no longer contain the overflowing emotions.
Nor did he want to.
With his lips against Radis’s forehead, Yves poured out his feelings recklessly, as if he would die if he didn’t speak.
“Radis, I’ll do anything. I don’t care if the whole world says no. As long as… Even if you’re the only one who would smile at me…”
His murmuring lips moved downward.
His lips, now moist and plump again, settled softly over her eyelids and the thin skin of her face.
The nibbling kiss sent shivers down Radis’s spine.
Yves’s lips were so sweet, she thought it might be okay to be eaten up by them a bit.
The moment his lower lip touched one corner of hers, an electric current ran from the top of her head to the tips of her toes.
Jolted back to her senses by that tingling, Radis quickly said.
“I-I’m not under a Geas.”
Yves stopped in his tracks.
His lips were right next to hers.
She asked frantically,
“H-H-H-Have you gone insane?”
“No, I’m perfectly sane.”
Radis pushed Yves’s chest away with both arms.
Though it seemed like their lips parted with a pop.
“…What?”
“The Emperor failed. And I think I know how to undo Master’s Geas. I need to go find him.”
Through his black hair, Yves’s golden eyes slowly regained rationality.
With those settled eyes, Yves asked.
“Can I kiss you?”
As if the sunset blushed, Radis’s face turned red.
“No!”
But her arms were so weak it was almost laughable.
Fortunately, despite that feeble resistance, Yves gracefully stepped back.
As if nothing had happened, Yves said.
“Sir Sheldon suddenly fell ill and was rushed to the infirmary. I’ll take you there.”
The way he turned around so nonchalantly made Radis stand there dazed for a moment, wondering if he had a face of steel.
“Ah, and.”
Yves turned back suddenly and looked straight into her eyes.
“I like you.”
