‘It feels like I’ve become someone they truly need.’

It was a feeling she had never experienced before in her life.

With a sense of responsibility, Enya helped them with their work. As expected, her control over moving plants and animals was still somewhat unrefined, but after several attempts and failures, she successfully shifted the direction of the tree.

“Thank you, Enya.”

Ikachi and the other workers expressed their gratitude in unison.

“No, I was just doing what I needed to do.”

Enya replied, sweat trickling down her forehead. Shifting the tree had drained a considerable amount of mental energy.

“Is there another place where you need help?”

When Enya asked as she wiped her sweat, Ikachi smiled and responded.

“There’s another bush in area 24 that also needs attention. If you could take a look at it, that would be great.”

He then added, as if he had just remembered.

“Oh, and have you thought about what I suggested last time?”

Enya thought for a moment before hurriedly replying.

“Oh, you mean the place for Tarhan and me to live in district 10?”

Enya’s cheeks flushed red.

Currently, Ikachi is helping the elderly or those unable to build their own homes in the Nervana forest. Most of the able-bodied people were building their own homes.

Enya shook her head.

“It’s okay. We’ll build our own home. We’re just grateful that you’ve allocated district 10 for us, Ikachi.”

District 10 was one of the prime locations at the forest’s peak.

It wasn’t far from the sapwood trees near the well and the busy gathering area. The location was also relatively pleasant and spacious. The best part was that it was surrounded by dense trees, providing a guaranteed private space for the residents.

After thinking for a moment, Enya added, still blushing.

“Tarhan also said he wants to build our home with his own hands.”

Ikachi nodded in agreement.

“Of course, Tarhan would. The houses he built in Aquilea were some of the best.”

Just then, someone else called out to Enya.

“Enya! Could you come help us here as well?”

Ikachi, rubbing his forehead as if in frustration, muttered.

“Indeed, being in a newly settled area, nature causes a lot of interference.”

He added.

“But with you here, we’re able to work without causing too much harm to the forest’s plants and animals. We’re truly lucky.”

Enya worked with Ikachi for nearly half the day after that.

Simple plants like grass and flowers now moved aside at the flick of her wrist. However, she struggled more with larger tasks, like dealing with the massive tree trunks, altering the course of the river, or carefully adjusting bird nests and certain insect areas.

After a long half-day of work, her face was drenched with sweat, and she was utterly exhausted. But the settlement was so vast that there were still many areas in need of her touch.

“Enya, could you come over here next?”

Hearing someone call her, Enya quickly stood up.

“Just, just a moment!”

At that moment, someone suddenly grabbed Enya’s forearm.

It was a strong grip.

“That’s enough for today.”

The voice was low and firm.

All the workers in the area turned their attention to Enya. She looked up, still surprised, and saw Tarhan, who had appeared without her noticing. He was holding her wrist and giving orders to the workers.

“Everyone should disperse for the day. It’s late.”

Despite his sudden appearance, everyone in the area focused on his words.

“The evening’s public meeting will begin early. Those who need to present ideas should be prepared and attend.”

Ikachi and the other workers immediately dropped their tools and began to scatter.

Enya wiped the dirt from the corner of her mouth and looked up at him.

“Ta-Tarhan.”

He must’ve been overseeing the work near the sapwood trees, where the communal well was being formed.

‘Did he come looking for me…?’

Tarhan, having sent everyone off, looked down at her.

His eyebrows were furrowed in displeasure. Enya immediately realized that something was bothering him. Embarrassed, she wiped her sweaty neck. She must have looked like a mess after working so hard.

She couldn’t help but blush.

Then, suddenly, Tarhan let out a deep, quiet sigh. And then, he lifted her body off the ground.

“Aah!”

Enya was startled by the sudden change in height and instinctively placed her hands on his chest. She quickly looked around.

The workers had already dispersed, as Tarhan had ordered.

‘I must smell like sweat…’

Enya felt self-conscious. Even though she wanted to be set down, Tarhan continued walking as if nothing was out of the ordinary, carrying her effortlessly.

“….I knew this would happen.”

He quietly murmured after walking quietly.

“I’m not asking for much. I’m not saying you should just lie down all day. I just want you to take it easy.”

His gaze moved from Enya’s sweaty forehead to her slightly swollen belly.

“I want you to avoid overdoing it, for the child’s sake.”

There was a deep crease between his brows, and his voice was full of concern. She wanted to reach up and smooth out the lines on his forehead, but seeing his expression so filled with worry, she stayed silent.

Then, suddenly, Tarhan stopped walking.

“Your legs…”

Tarhan couldn’t bring himself to finish his sentence and shut his mouth.

His eyes were fixed on Enya’s legs, which were visible beneath the slightly lifted clothing. On her left leg, from her ankle to her thigh, there was a long, faded red scar that couldn’t be erased.

His pupils trembled as he looked at the scar.
