Savage Forest - Chapter 134.1
Reyhald and Ihita were sent off first, and the others slowly followed behind. The survivors were beginning to settle into their new lives at the peak of the forest.
“It’s unexpected that we started living in a community like this, but I’m relieved that everyone has adjusted so quickly.”
Kiyan murmured.
As she said, the remaining people were easily adapting to their new routines. They cooked together, went hunting, mended clothes, and organized the necessary tasks. Hunting, gathering, childcare, construction, and even civil works, everything was organized and carried out by those who knew best.
The leaders of Aquilea seemed to be settling into their roles after many trials and errors.
Kiyan, Lehijin, Tarhan, Piache, and the other leaders held meetings late into the night. It was an open meeting where anyone with something to propose could join.
Nervana was adopting many of Aquilea’s methods, largely due to Tarhan’s influence.
Tarhan had naturally been accepted as the leader of the leadership council.
His experience commanding not only Aquilea but also various armies was now proving invaluable in Nervana. For now, the ultimate goal of the leadership seemed to be forming a settled community at the newly discovered peak of the forest.
“The reason we insisted on a hunting lifestyle and even divided the groups by gender, like Lehijin and Kiyan’s people, was to manage the population.”
Kiyan explained.
“Now that the Daughter of the Forest is back, we’re safe from the skull spider’s threat. The pregnant members won’t have to endure the constant fear of being chased by it while carrying their children.”
Kiyan leisurely settled into his seat, puffing smoke from his pipe.
“Now everyone can freely have children without worrying.”
At his words, several of the Nervana women laughed and fell back, amused.
“We’re living in one area now, but soon, we’ll divide into separate districts.”
Kiyan continued.
She was right. The rain was gradually stopping.
People were already preparing to build their own homes. Even Ihita and Reyhald were in the process of finding a place to live separately.
Piache suddenly muttered, as if remembering something.
“By the way, the men from Aquilea are quite popular.”
Enya agreed with Piache.
“Well… in Aquilea, when men build houses, it’s considered a sign of courting.”
Kiyan scoffed at the comment.
Nervana was trying a new policy of abandoning the hunting lifestyle and forming a settled village community. Because of this, the few men from Aquilea who had come with Tarhan and Rigata were now incredibly popular.
The need for men was even more pressing due to the casualties from the recent battles. As Enya walked with them, she began to survey the village, which was beginning to take shape.
Piache, without turning her head, glanced toward one spot and muttered under her breath.
“Look at that. Rigata, who had so many women following him in Aquilea, seems to have the same effect here.”
Enya turned her gaze in the direction Piache had pointed to. She saw Rigata, gently rocking a child in his arms.
“It seems he’s been getting along well with one of the Nervana women. There were plenty of other women trying to catch his attention, but he chose the one with a child.”
As Kiyan murmured with a pleased tone, Enya was taken aback by her words.
‘Could it be because he’s reminded of the children he left behind in Aquilea?’
She thought that perhaps, as the rumors said, Rigata had raised other people’s children without a second thought, accepting them as his own. Like Aquilea, Nervana had a relatively free attitude toward relationships.
However, once a person has a child, most settle down with a single partner for life. Yaru and Nihitan were prime examples of this.
Enya smiled as she watched the three families settle in and organize their shared living space.
She was slightly surprised to find that Nihitan was such a warm father. Their daughter, Yasmin, surprisingly followed Nihitan more than Yaru. The family seemed to be united in a way that promised they would never be separated.
Then, someone called out to her.
“Enya! There you are!”
It was Ikachi from Aquilea.
He was a worker who had been assigned to civil projects in the plains. Now, in Nervana’s new settlement, he was tasked with building the village.
“I’ve been searching for you. We need your help.”
Enya quickly greeted Kiyan and Piache before following Ikachi.
Lately, many people in different areas have been asking for Enya’s help. As the Daughter of the Forest, Enya had the ability to communicate freely with the creatures of the forest. At times like these, she felt like a highly valuable resource.
“What’s the matter this time?”
She asked as she hurriedly followed Ikachi.
“Well, there’s a huge tree blocking progress in the 34th district. Could you help us by slightly shifting the direction of the tree?”
“A, a tree?”
Enya flinched slightly.
After forming a perfect connection with the skull spider, she gained the power to control small animals and plants like grass and herbs but she had never attempted to move a large tree before.
‘But a huge tree… I haven’t tried that yet…’
She hesitated for a moment before responding.
“I’ll give it a try.”
Ikachi nodded gratefully.
“Thank you, Enya.”
When they arrived at the 34th district, as expected, a massive tree was blocking their path. Everyone’s faces brightened when they saw Enya.
“Welcome, Enya!”
“We’ve all been waiting for you!”
Enya felt a wave of embarrassment at their warm welcome, though she tried not to show it on her face.
