Savage Forest - Chapter 113.1
“Ugh, that’s incredibly old.”
Jahan exclaimed in shock.
“If you have time to make such pointless comments, hold the torch properly!”
Silanda scolded.
The group had been carrying torches for some time now. In the dense forest, where Fiarca had initially opposed the idea due to the risk of spreading flames, she was ultimately outvoted by Senu’s strong insistence.
“If we wrap the fabric around it, it will help contain the flames and prevent them from spreading.”
Fiarca reluctantly agreed. Given the daily rain in the forest, the priority had shifted from worrying about the fire spreading to ensuring it stayed lit.
“We need to be ready to use this at any moment.”
Senu said in a serious tone as he tapped the weapons they were carrying.
Although Fiarca was still dissatisfied with the weapons, she accepted his decision without further argument.
Senu’s condition had not improved at all. According to Fiarca, the rule to listen to someone who seemed on the verge of death was in effect. Enya, who had been closely observing Senu, deeply understood Fiarca’s words.
While the group was resting, she approached Enya, who was sitting and gently tapping her sore feet.
“Enya.”
From the look on her face, Enya sensed that something was wrong. Fiarca then pulled something out of her bag.
“I really debated whether or not to give this to you.”
What she took out was dried and crushed powder from the mushroom Jahan had found earlier. Enya’s eyes widened as she looked at Fiarca. The mushroom Jahan had found was definitely a poisonous one.
Fiarca hesitated before speaking.
“This is usually used for anesthesia… but just in case, I think it’s better if you have it.”
She added awkwardly.
“It’s a powerful enough drug to put down a geppas.”
After hearing Fiarca’s words, Enya responded after some thought.
“You want me to feed this to the skull spider?”
Fiarca gave a wry smile.
“Of course not. If the skull spider were affected by such a mushroom, it would lose its title as the guardian of the forest.”
Fiarca continued hesitantly.
“This is for the daughter of the forest.”
Enya then realized the meaning behind Fiarca’s words. She struggled to keep her voice steady, trying not to show her fear.
“W-Will it be that painful? Is the drug strong enough to put down a geppas really needed?”
Fiarca quickly waved her hands.
“Absolutely not! I’m just being cautious, just in case!”
She added after a moment’s thought.
“Since there hasn’t been any contact with the skull spider since Eireke’s time… if the skull spider doesn’t recognize Enya… well, in the worst-case scenario… you see, skull spiders don’t kill their prey in one go. They do it slowly, over a long period. So, this is a drug that warriors who face skull spiders usually carry. It’s just in case you’re in too much pain…”
Fiarca couldn’t continue her explanation.
Enya understood what she was saying. The powder she handed over was meant for situations where one fails to subdue the skull spider.
Fiarca hesitated before speaking again, her demeanor uncharacteristically unsure.
“A small amount will just put you to sleep, but if you use it all at once, it could be fatal. I hope you never find yourself in a situation where you have to use all of it.”
Enya swallowed hard at her serious expression. She responded quietly but firmly.
“I will never have to use all of this medicine.”
Fiarca merely nodded and gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. Enya forced a smile, trying to show her determination despite her anxiety inside. She couldn’t afford to appear weak in front of Fiarca, who had been leading them with such persistence.
Fiarca sighed in relief at Enya’s smile.
“Oh, if only Reyhald were here now, it would lift the mood! Everything’s so gloomy!”
She grumbled before falling into deep thought, then muttered.
“By the way, that Reyhald definitely has something going on with that pharmacy girl from Aquilea.”
“Do you mean Ihita?”
Enya replied.
“Yes, that rude… hmm, no, I mean that rather fiery little girl.”
Enya thought that if Ihita heard this, she would surely shout and argue about having any sort of relationship with someone like Reyhald.
However, Fiarca muttered with suspicion.
“There was definitely something going on between them. You know, like in those secluded bushes, behind trees, or even in the backyard of the pharmacy where you used to work…”
“Rey, Reyhald and Ihita?”
Fiarca, as if it were obvious, gestured toward Silanda and Senu.
“Definitely. Just like those two.”
Enya’s eyes widened as she looked over at Silanda and Senu, who were resting in each other’s arms, their bodies entwined in a way that made them look like one entity.
Silanda scratched her chin and mumbled.
“Still, given that man’s condition, it’s unlikely that Silanda is pregnant…”
Only then did Enya realize what Fiarca was implying. Fiarca’s eyes, filled with anxiety, turned toward her.
Enya opened her eyes wide and quickly responded.
“I, I couldn’t be. I, I’m—”
