Refusing Your Ex-Husband's Obsession: A Guide - Chapter 200
Chapter 200

—
It was Irene, accompanied by Lacie and Aiden. He, too, looked flushed, deep in conversation with Lacie.
“Lady, have you ever seen everyone simultaneously share the same thought?”
Aiden asked excitedly.
“Your Lordship, isn’t that quite a rare occurrence?”
Lacie responded with a gentle smile.
“Yes, it is. But really…”
Aiden reminisced about what had happened earlier in the prayer room. He had been probing people’s minds to protect Irene, as an enemy could appear at any moment.
But the moment she left the prayer room after praying, in the minds of the priests and paladins, only the name of the Goddess emerged, simultaneously and uniformly. It felt almost miraculous.
Still not fully recovered from his excitement, Aiden overheard a disturbing thought.
‘That’s the guy who collapsed back then, isn’t it?’
He instantly recognized the voice he had heard before. When Aiden turned his head sharply towards them, Seo-yoon, who was observing them, was taken aback.
“Oh… Your Grace, is that you?”
As Seo-yoon approached with a smile, Aiden just stared at her silently. Lacie, recognizing the woman in a priestess’s robe, quickly greeted her, realizing she was the saintess.
“Greetings to you, Your Eminence the Saintess.”
“…Hmm, who might you be?”
“I am Lacie, the eldest daughter of the Clausent family.”
At the mention of ‘Clausent,’ Seo-yoon’s eyes widened for a moment before narrowing. She curled her lips into a smirk, cursing inwardly.
‘So, that disappearing dot was her. Damn it, why is she here? What’s going on? Is she really a Guide?’
Thinking of her as a Guide, Seo-yoon scrutinized Lacie warily.
‘She’s different from the usual ladies, wearing pants instead. Is her family poor or what? Ah, should I make her my underling? Yes, I should seize the opportunity when it arises.’
Aiden, who had been reading Seo-yoon’s thoughts all along, wore an increasingly dark expression. Seo-yoon was oblivious to the icy gaze of the young duke, focusing solely on Lacie and waiting for the right moment.
“Oh, Vice Captain!”
As Seo-yoon shouted loudly, the nearby priests also turned their attention to her. When the vice captain approached, Seo-yoon exclaimed with a look of wonder.
“Can you believe this coincidence! The new Guide I was initially seeking is already here!”
Seo-yoon raised her voice for everyone to hear, grabbing Lacie’s arm to make a show of it.
“It must be the Goddess’s will leading me here.”
As all eyes in front of the prayer room turned to her, Seo-yoon felt a sense of satisfaction, as if all her struggles in finding the guide had vanished.
“I had such a foolish thought. I believed the god told me to go and find the Guide myself, but that wasn’t necessary. I just needed to stay in the temple.”
Seo-yoon rationalized, recalling the dots she had seen on the map, thinking they all converged because of her. The brief annoyance she felt was overshadowed by her triumphant feeling.
Suddenly the center of attention, Lacie didn’t know what to do. She wanted to tell the truth, but Seo-yoon didn’t give her a chance to speak.
“I even heard the voice of the Goddess in my dreams. I didn’t understand what it meant at the time, but now I do.”
“Did the Goddess speak to you again?”
One of the priests looked at Seo-yoon with awe. That gaze alone gave Seo-yoon a thrill she could never have experienced in Korea—the attention and respect she returned to the empire for.
“Yes, the Goddess said that the Guides have scattered throughout the Empire because I left the temple. She must be appreciating my efforts.”
“Oh, dear Goddess…”
“So, Your Eminence, you’re saying that this Lady is the new Guide?”
Before Lacie could respond to the vice captain’s question, Seo-yoon was quick to answer.
“Yes, we went to the Clausent territory, didn’t we? And here we meet the person we were supposed to meet there. All that trouble for nothing.”
Seo-yoon smiled as she looked at Lacie.
‘Damn it, do you know how much trouble you caused me?’
Aiden felt sickened by the saintess’s duplicity, reminding him of past employees who had harbored ulterior motives against him, worsening his mood.
Wanting to help the bewildered Lacie, Aiden stepped forward.
“This is strange.”
“…What?”
Seo-yoon, who hadn’t even acknowledged Aiden until now, looked at him with displeasure. The fact that he was the duke’s brother made her uneasy.
‘Why are you even here?’
As she bluntly expressed her annoyance, Aiden couldn’t help but smile. He fixed his gaze on Seo-yoon, who, with an innocently naïve expression, did not hesitate to voice the apparent contradictions here.
