Obviously, It's My Child - Chapter 133
If left unchecked, who knows what rumors she might spread about her and the Duke?
Therefore, Lina entered County Schneider not just casually but to prevent Iris from causing further trouble for Claire.
Her affection for the Count was surprisingly little. She thought perhaps one day she would come to accept him as family, but considering he had allowed Iris to behave so tyrannically, she couldn’t feel positively towards him.
She said curtly,
“Thief.”
“No!”
Iris screamed frantically.
“You’re the thief! My Dad, my brothers! You stole them! My place, my people!”
“I’ve only reclaimed the position of Lady Schneider. It seems without that title, you have nothing left.”
“Coming from someone who lived scrubbing floors! I’m the real one! I am the lady, I am Iris Schneider!”
As she cried out, she lunged at Lina, attempting to choke her.
Lina could easily fend off the feeble grasp of a delicate lady, but she chose not to. She remained calm, unlike Iris.
Having just left the dining room and going to Iris so quickly meant the Count would soon witness their confrontation.
And indeed.
“Lina!”
Armin shouted as he ran to separate the two who rolled on the ground. The Count arrived in shock.
“What is this, Iris!”
“Lina, are you okay? Oh my God, look at the marks on your neck.”
“Iris! How dare you!”
The Count and his two sons circled around Lina.
The trembling Iris stepped back. She looked pitifully at the three men, but no one was willing to listen to her.
Lina coughed and gently touched her neck.
“I’m fine.”
“Fine? Your voice sounds strained. Let’s see if you’re hurt.”
“Iris!”
“Why, why only against me?”
Finally, Iris burst into tears and screamed.
“She called me a thief! Dad, you should be on my side! You always said you were on Iris’s side!”
“Stop it, Iris.”
The Count spoke with a heavy voice, then wrapping an arm around Lina’s shoulder, he declared,
“You two….I never expected you two to get along like sisters, but I hoped at the very least you could coexist as family members under one roof. But it seems that’s not possible.”
“Dad…!”
“Iris, you will go down to the estate. With all the bad talk circulating, it’s better you take some time away to not listen to them and rest quietly for a while.”
“Are you… abandoning me?”
Clear tears streamed down Iris’s face.
The Count turned away from her face. Robert stepped in front of Iris’ path instead,
“Go back to your room. I’ll take you there.”
“So, you’re really abandoning me. Dad too, Brother too. Because I’m not really Dad’s daughter.”
Iris cried and sobbed, but no answer came back.
She departed for the old mansion at Schneider estate in the countryside that very afternoon.
No one came to see her off. Iris looked up at the mansion’s windows several times before boarding the carriage, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Count watching her, but the glaring sun made it impossible to see anything.
There was only one carriage. Even when they went on holiday, they always had at least two carriages for luggage.
[The luggage will be sent after you promptly. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to write, young Miss.]
The butler.
The term ‘young Miss’ felt like another stab of sorrow to Iris that made her cry for a long time. She was supposed to be the only Miss of County Schneider. She should have been.
To be sent away with just a bag in hand felt like being banished.
‘Mom, I’m sorry. Mom.’
Iris leaned her head against the carriage window and sobbed.
Her Mom had always insisted for her to stay close, and she had failed even in that.
The carriage stopped at the train station. The coachman left to buy tickets, and the maid, supposedly there to attend to her but really to ensure she didn’t escape, went to buy some soda.
That’s when someone opened the carriage door and jumped in.
“Gasp…!”
Startled from her daze, Iris screamed.
It was Stefan.
“Stefan!”
Iris felt a sense of deja vu. Stefan waved his hand in a playful greeting.
“You look terrible, Miss Iris. No makeup either.”
“What… what do you want again?”
Iris trembled and huddled into a corner of the carriage.
She didn’t fully understand the cause and effect of all that had happened. However, she knew that if she hadn’t gone to Thomas, her Mom wouldn’t have died like that.
And her Mom would have managed somehow.
Stefan said.
“Just came to check if Miss Iris has the capacity to make a comeback. Considering what you did to Borjans, you’re sometimes quite bold.”
“Why would you care about that?”
“If you had the capacity, I would think about killing you.”
Stefan spoke calmly.
If Iris had heard such a thing the last time he climbed into her carriage, she would have been disgusted and dumbfounded.
But now, Iris knew too closely what death meant. How easy it was to commit murder.
She was terrified.
“Don’t worry. I’ve realized you’re just a child.”
Too self-centered, doing whatever it takes for herself as easily as pulling the legs off a bug.
And such a person cannot make a comeback on their own.
Her beauty and voice were already rendered useless by Claire Delford, so she could be left alone.
Stefan was about to leave the carriage when Iris hastily grabbed his sleeve.
“Why, why did you do it?”
“What are you referring to?”
