“Uung, huht! Huu… Uungg!”

“You respond so beautifully, especially when I touch your breasts.”

Darien pressed soft kisses along her cleavage, as if admiring something precious. His words felt almost hypnotic as he whispered again.

“Remember this feeling. Your breasts are meant to feel good when touched.”

“I get it, uht, so, huu… Stop it!”

Her outburst seemed to finally reach him, as he obediently removed his hands from her chest. It was hard to believe that he had been lewdly teasing her chest a while ago.

The ease with which he withdrew startled her, making her pause in surprise. It was so sudden, so compliant, that for a split second, she almost found herself… missing the touch.

‘Am I going mad?’

The absurd thought sent her shaking her head in disbelief. No, it wasn’t that she missed it. She’d just fallen prey to his constant suggestive remarks.

“You should’ve been a hypnotist, not a wizard.”

“But I’m also good enough to be a tower master, you know?”

His cool response left her speechless. Of course, no one in their right mind would choose hypnotism over the title of tower master if they could have both.

“Well, it must be nice to be so talented.”

“Better than being useless, right?”

Fine, you win…. Regina gave up on fighting him with words. After all, what could a knight possibly do to outwit a wizard?

She stared at Darien’s face, which was still lit up with that irritatingly smug smile, and then asked a question that had been gnawing at her.

“Do you really not resent me?”

Yekarna had always assumed that Prince Iskanda must have harbored deep hatred for her. She had slaughtered his family, razed his kingdom to the ground. How could he not loathe her for it?

He had been abused by his father, yes, but the fact remained that she was the one who killed him. Blood ties, no matter how strained, had a way of binding people.

“No.”

His response was calm, as if the very notion baffled him. Tilting his head to the side, he seemed genuinely puzzled by her question.

“Why would I resent Your Majesty?”

“Well, because…”

“The first time I saw Your Majesty, I thought you were an angel descended from the heavens. A beautiful, just angel who had finally come to deliver divine punishment upon the demons disguised as humans.”

As he spoke, his eyes gleamed with a kind of reverence, as if he was recalling a distant, cherished memory.

“The angel even took me in and saved me. How could I possibly hate you for that? Well… aside from the complicated part about your relationships with men. Or maybe not just a little complicated.”

Regina felt her whole body ache at his words. He wasn’t wrong, after all, so she stayed quiet, just watching him. Even she had to admit that Yekarna’s history with men left little room for excuses.

But despite that, Darien didn’t seem to harbor any intentions of revenge—assuming he was telling the truth.

‘He might be hiding his hatred perfectly, just waiting for the right moment to strike.’

She stole a glance at Darien. Yet, looking into his gentle, handsome face, her resolve wavered.

‘This damned taste.’

Her weakness for good-looking men with well-toned bodies didn’t seem like something she could shake off in this lifetime. Maybe the next one?

Friedrich’s reincarnation, Valen, was a divine-looking beauty. Bliss, Skyler’s reincarnation, was a dazzling one. Count Lennon Hartmann, Lennon’s reincarnation, had the refined elegance of a noble. And then there was Darien, Prince Iskanda’s reincarnation, who had a warm, comforting beauty. Each man, stunning in their own way, made it hard to stay rational.

“But it seems you’ve picked up quite a few things since we last met. When I first gave you that ring, you didn’t have anything, and now you’re covered in accessories.”

His fingers grazed her earrings, choker, and bracelet as he spoke and he began to laugh.

“The earrings must be from Valen since I can sense divine energy. The bracelet, a magical weapon from Bliss. And this lace choker with the communication spell? That’s from Lennon, right?”

He’s like a mind reader. His knowledge of magic was so precise that he could identify not only who gave her each item but also the spells they carried.

Regina sighed, her head aching from the realization that none of the four men in her life were easy to deal with. Not one of them was simple or laid-back. Would it have been too much to ask for at least one of them to be a bit naive or easygoing?

“So, what kind of magic is on this ring?”

She asked, finally giving in to her curiosity. She’d put it on at his request, but she still had no idea what it actually did.

“Hmm, instead of explaining a hundred times, why don’t I just show you?”

Darien, feigning a playful tone, suddenly attacked without warning. Regina instinctively channeled mana into her bracelet, preparing herself.

A crackling sound followed by a burst of light filled her vision. Smoke rose and dispersed, revealing Regina in a defensive stance, clearly startled. She had managed to draw her sword just in time, but the magic attack dissipated before it even reached her, as if blocked by something else.

Upon closer inspection, she saw a translucent, dome-like barrier surrounding her.

“I figured Your Majesty could handle any other attacks yourself, but I thought this might help protect you from long-range magic attacks, which can be tricky for a swordswoman.”

Darien explained as if the situation were entirely normal. Sweat trickled down Regina’s temple. She had reacted because she saw the attack coming, but if Darien had cast it from outside her line of sight, she couldn’t be sure she would have dodged it in time.

It made sense now why Bliss couldn’t defend himself against Darien’s retaliation.

“I gave it to you after hearing someone might target Your Majesty at the swordsmanship competition. Do you like it?”

He asked with hopeful eyes, looking like a boy waiting for praise. Regina, without realizing it, muttered ‘release’ and returned her sword to the bracelet. Then, out of habit from her past life, she reached out and patted his head.

“Thank you.”

Darien’s eyes widened in surprise before slowly closing as he leaned into her touch, clearly enjoying it like a well-behaved puppy.

As she gently stroked his chocolate-colored hair, she couldn’t help but grumble inside.
