My Past Life is Riddled With Many Sins - Chapter 11
The only crime Regina committed when she said ‘no’ to when asked if she knew how to ride a horse. It was an inevitable choice. Logically, a commoner girl wouldn’t know how to ride a horse, right?
While an adult man, even if he was a commoner, might have various reasons to know their way around with horses, such as being a coachman or having managed stables. There was no reason for a woman, unless she was a noble lady, to be anywhere near horses.
So when Regina claimed she didn’t know how to ride, he looked at her with a strange eye and said, “Then I’ll ride with you.”
His loyal subordinates naturally opposed this idea. However, they were all carrying loads, so the only horse available to carry an additional person was the one he was riding. That alone was enough trouble for Regina, but these suspicious knights seemed overly concerned about their precious young master.
“Absolutely not. Carrying someone behind you is out of the question. You never know when she might harm you from behind, Young Master.”
“What if I put her in front?”
“That’s also risky. Being in proximity, whether in front or behind, is problematic.”
“So you’re saying it’s not safe as long as her hands and feet are free to move around?”
He seemed to accept his subordinates’ strong objections and nodded, offering a solution.
“In that case, there’s only one option.”
‘Was there really no other way?’ Regina wondered.
Being strapped to a horse and being carried around like a load without the ability to move was an agony. In a way, it was better that she wasn’t simply dragged along the ground, but instead, she was placed neatly on the horse.
If her true identity as Yekarna were exposed, she might end up like that.
Regina made a solemn vow not to reveal her true identity, but the swaying world suddenly came to a stop. The horse had stopped moving.
Finally, a brief rest from being tied up and unable to move. Once their break time was over, she would likely be bound and transported again.
“Haa.”
Regina, who had grown uneasy, let out a deep sigh. She noticed Friedrich’s reincarnation, who had been observing from nearby as his subordinate untied the rope, heard her sigh and spoke.
“I’m sorry. If you knew how to ride a horse, we wouldn’t have had to go through this trouble.”
His tone was strange, almost teasing yet sarcastic. It seemed like he might be enjoying this situation, but perhaps it was just a misunderstanding.
Regina got off the horse with a troubled face.
It pained her to admit it, but as a warmonger, Yekarna was skilled in equestrianism. She could even perform acrobatics and land gracefully with her eyes closed. She only did this to be ignorant.
The knights went to prepare their meals, and Regina sat down to eat her own provisions. They hadn’t brought an unlimited amount of food, and Regina had brought her share, so she ate separately. They offered to share a few times, but she kept declining, and after a while, they didn’t insist anymore.
Of course, if they were complete strangers, she might have gladly accepted their offer. But they were Friedrich’s people. She didn’t want to be indebted to them any more than she already was, considering the enormous debt she owed from her previous life. She probably wouldn’t be able to repay it no matter what
Regina was chewing on jerky when someone approached her. She turned her head to see Friedrich’s reincarnation standing there.
“Young Master, do you have something to say to me?”
Surprisingly, Regina still didn’t know his name. It was because the knights only referred to him as ‘Young Master’.
“Here.”
He handed her a cup, and Regina instinctively reached out her hand.
“You don’t have to bother with a commoner like me, Young Master.”
“This is cerise juice. Weren’t you a fan of cerise?”
His question, mixed with a hint of amusement, left Regina momentarily speechless. She couldn’t refuse the cerise juice that the nobility had offered and put it to waste. Eventually, Regina accepted the cerise juice. As she took a sip, the unique sweet and tangy taste filled her mouth.
It was neither particularly good nor bad. However, with him nearby, Regina pretended to savor it as if she were a cerise enthusiast.
‘Why is he still here?’
Regina continued to sip her drink while casting a glance at him. He seemed lost in thought with an expression on his face, then he spoke.
“There’s someone who wronged me in the past.”
“Kuhk.”
She almost choked on her juice that came back up.
“I thought I’d never meet them again, but fate seems to have other plans.”
Regina’s hand holding the cup trembled slightly.
This was 100% about Yekarna.
“While it’s been too long for revenge, if I just let it go, my tender heart would be hurt deeply.”
With his left hand placed on his chest, he muttered bitterly. It seemed completely distant to the owner of ‘a tender heart’.
Regina felt a shiver down her spine. If she were discovered, it would be death.
“What should I do? I would like to know the opinion of someone who says it’s okay to have cerise for three meals a day rather than bread.”
“How, how can this fool help with such important matters? I know nothing. Besides, you, you.”
“I wonder what goes on in the head of an unusual person who can have cerise for three meals a day rather than bread.”
“If you tap it, wouldn’t it make a clear and beautiful sound? Because it’s empty.”
“Enough of this nonsense. Just answer.”
His firm attitude left Regina distraught.
“It’s in the past, so why not forgive… but it’s hard, right! It’s not as simple as others say, ‘forgive and forget,’ right. They ask others to forgive them because it’s not their business, but that’s not how they feel. Haha.”
