My Past Life is Riddled With Many Sins - Chapter 10
Well-maintained short black hair. The color and length were different from the previous life, but it was still attractive and beautifully glossy.
The cool, almond-shaped eyes, slightly more sharper than the image in her memory, yet were still enchanting. The eyelashes were dense and long.
Although the bridge of the nose had changed somewhat, everything was still neat without any awkward parts. The shape of the lips had also changed, but the smoothness remained the same. When he smiled earlier, the way it smoothly curled was charming.
The gracefully elongated neck connecting to the shoulders seemed wider than in the previous life. The fingers were thick but slender, giving a masculine yet pretty appearance.
‘I probably need to see the body without clothes to know for sure.’
Thinking so, Regina quickly scanned the lines of the body. When she raised her head, their eyes met as if he found it amusing.
“How do you feel?”
“What?”
“You were passionately admiring it, did you like it?”
“How, how dare a commoner like me admire the noble Sir…”
While Regina vehemently denied, he stabbed the fork into the dessert, precisely playing the cerise decoration on top. Watching him shift it aside out of annoyance before eating, Regina, who had been observing, blanked out when she saw him bringing the fork directly to his mouth.
It needs to be stopped.
Instinctively, Regina grabbed his arm.
And a moment later, she realized it too late.
Allergies are part of one’s constitution. Since the physical body changes during reincarnation, there was no way the man in front of her would have a cerise allergy like the previous Friedrich.
Cold sweat broke out on the back of her neck.
She’s done it now. How can she fix this situation?
He was looking at her with an expression of great interest as if enjoying the spectacle.
‘If I get caught, I’m dead.’
Regina decided she’d rather be an insane human. She shut her eyes tightly and, with a hint of exaggeration, exclaimed,
“Wow, it looks delicious! Can you give that to me?”
His eyes twitched.
“I, I really love cerises! Enough to eat them for all three meals instead of bread. But suddenly seeing it, I just really wanted to eat it… Ha, haha, ha.”
Regina, who excused herself with a rambling explanation, laughed almost desperately. Even to herself, it sounded absurd.
What commoner in the world would have the crazy idea of snatching noble food? Touching a noble’s body without permission in the first place was already rude enough to lose a hand.
Feeling dizzy, Regina released his arm she had been holding onto.
‘Will I have to live this life without my right hand?’
As she gazed forlornly at her right hand, not knowing if she had to say goodbye, his muttered words faintly passed through her ears.
“… I never thought you’d be so bold.”
As she was distracted by other thoughts, Regina didn’t hear him properly.
“Yes? What did you just say…”
“Here.”
Being very nervous, Regan was taken aback by the sudden appearance of the cerise in front of her face.
“Open up, ah.”
He smiled while gently tapping the fork with the cerise hanging on it.
“You said you wanted to eat them, the cerise.”
For some reason, he seemed to be in a good mood. Regina cautiously observed him and opened her mouth to receive the cerise. She delicately removed the flesh without touching the fork as much as possible, but when the fork touched her tongue, saliva got on it.
“You should change the fork…”
Before Regina could finish her sentence, he picked up the fork and put the food into his mouth. Regina closed her mouth, seeing him calmly continue his meal.
‘Well, if he doesn’t mind, then it’s fine.’
It would be better to let it pass quietly. If she unnecessarily pointed it out, he might retort with something like, ‘Are you saying I used a fork tainted with commoner’s saliva?’ and she might end up with her throat slit.
Once he finished his plate, he gestured, and the men sitting at nearby tables, as if waiting for this moment, stood up and approached.
“I will accompany this child, so be aware.”
“What? Young Master, it’s not advisable to let someone with such an uncertain identity join the group…”
“As you can see, she’s just become an adult. I don’t think we need to discuss your meager skills that can’t handle such a young child.”
The atmosphere tensed up all at once.
Regina quickly scanned them. They disguised themselves as mercenaries, but they were knights. Not just ordinary ones, but part of a rigorously trained elite knight order.
Clearly, Friedrich had been reborn into quite a high status. Under the vigilant gazes of the knights, Regina felt her mouth becoming dry.
‘Can I escape before my identity is exposed?’
* * *
Unfortunately, the ominous premonition did not prove wrong. It had been about a week since she joined the group, but Regina hadn’t even attempted to escape, let alone successfully do so. The vigilant knights, fearing she might cause harm to their young master, kept a close eye on her.
Even if she tried to sneak away in the middle of the night, voices would immediately ask what she was up to. At this point, there seemed to be no way to escape.
At this point, Regina felt like saying, ‘I really don’t want to travel with you. Why not let me go my own way? You can protect your precious young master, and I can go on my own path. Isn’t that mutually beneficial?’
But dealing with knights proved to be less flexible than she imagined, and she was certain they would respond with something like, ‘Without our young master’s permission, it’s not possible.’
If there was one advantage in this situation, thanks to traveling on horseback ‘getting into the destination sooner than expected’. The downside, however, was that the man she was riding with was the person he should avoid the most.
Regina found her current situation quite awkward, hanging on behind the man who was presumably the reincarnation of Friedrich.
It wasn’t like the romantic image of sitting behind someone and wrapping one’s arms around their waist the typical when two people rode together. Rather, she felt more like being tied up and carried like a piece of luggage on the back.
