Chapter 12.2 — The dog, the lark and the Princess (8)

As Riette lamented and dropped her shoulders, Shushu seemed worried and jumped around on her shoulder.

“I’m done with your hair, Princess. Please let me know if you like it.”

When she turned to face the mirror, she could see her hair tied in half. While Bea’s hair was elegant and dignified, Riette’s was so full and wavy that it looked completely different, even if it was under the hands of the same handmaid.

The lady-in-waiting pointed to a lace ribbon with edges protruding like cat ears.

“Since the Princess has such a lovely impression, I tied it with a slightly bigger ribbon today. You’ll be compared a little less next to Princess Beatrice. Do you like it?”

“Ung. Thank you for your efforts. Could you call the parlor and ask where Highness Narkissis and Grand Duke Acheron are?”

“Yes, Princess.”

At her words, the lady-in-waiting turned to the phone while Riette opened the dented cage door.

“Princess. They say the two of them went for a walk by the lake.”

“I see, thank you. Shushu, you really need to get down now. Can you put the limousine on standby? I really need to talk to the Grand Duke before he leaves.”

When Riette lifted Shushu up onto the perch and pulled her hand away, Shushu pouted and puffed out his feathers. Because of that, she felt like she had a new brother, who was like a five-year-old, and they had to fight every time they went out. It was only after struggling to separate Shushu that she could eventually leave the powder room with the momentum of a commander on the front lines.

She was now facing tremendous challenges even before her marriage to the Grand Duke had begun.

‘Now that it’s like this, I have no choice but to do it my way…’

The lakeside of the royal palace garden where Narkissis and Cain stayed was perched in a domed-shaped pergola. While Narkissis was standing with his back over the entrance and chatting with the princesses, Cain leaned against a pillar as if he was bored.

Cain was very, very depressed.

“I would like you to refrain from approaching me.”

On the subject of the solemn declaration as if something had happened, he couldn’t believe he had such an obscene dream for two days in a row. The low and vulgar dreams that had plagued him from the first day of his arrival had even risen sharply the previous night. Contrary to the depressed and gloomy feeling of embarrassment, blood rushed frantically and gathered at the lower part. How he licked and rubbed the Princess in his dream last night…

He wanted to die because of the memories that were more vivid than the photographs.

He was a crazy b*stard who was eager to imagine the naked body of a princess who had been breathing beneath him in his dream… to bring her up before devouring her and swallowing her, and savoring her all over again.

At the same time, the crooked overseer, who screamed in his frontal lobe that to beat that lowly bastard, solemnly ran amok inside his skull, brandishing a futile whip. Meanwhile, as the two selves, which were split up and down, fought fiercely for dominance over the raggedy body, the third self watched and sighed in despair.

…How could the Princess be her?

He had assumed she would be here because she was the girl he had met at Chalonné, but to think that she was the princess…

Cain frowned as if he were tired and swept his dry face with his large hand.

How lovely she was in his dreams.

Given the chance, he could covet her for days. Those white and voluptuous…

“Cain. Why don’t you stop standing there?”

As Narkissis’s indisposed voice cut in, Cain let go of his hand and glanced at him with his eyes. Meanwhile, the princesses of other countries surrounding Narkissis in a fan-like shape gulped and averted their gazes.

Narkissis, who was also frozen for a moment with the ladies, struggled to keep a straight face. He pretended to regain his composure and sneered.

“Don’t you look terrifying. Shouldn’t you take those murderous eyes away unless you’re in the mood to see how you’ve terrified the ladies?”

He meant for him to take a seat.

Stand.

…Rise up.

It seemed that he couldn’t think of an answer without ripping those words out of his head and throwing them in the trash.
