Marriage with a Suspiciously Demure Husband - Chapter 91.2
Chapter 91.2
When Sid said something, Kairos’ face hardened slightly.
At that expression, Sid looked flustered. I was sure he wouldn’t say anything else. I had never stopped him before, but I was worried about Sid, who had been bedridden for weeks because of me, so I opened the door slightly.
Meanwhile, Kairos’s expression worsened. I ended up opening the door and going out, brushing my hair back. Fortunately, the portable stairs were still in place, so I could easily get down. I brushed off my clothes and approached them.
“…It seems like it will take at least one or two days. Who would have thought there would be a real inspection? It’s been a dead end since this morning.”
“Let’s go to the closest place then.”
“It’s past two PM now… It’ll be difficult to make it by tonight.”
“Then to the village.”
“I asked the management office, and they said the nearest village can’t be entered before 9 pm. They suggested we stay there… Oh, Madam.”
Sid, flustered, bowed stiffly with his arms at his sides.
“Hazel.”
“Another inspection?”
Kairos flinched for a moment and then let out a low sigh.
“It seems like it will be operational tomorrow morning.”
“There are a lot of inspections. I thought there weren’t many gates here.”
It was near the regional border, so there was nothing but forests, plains, and mountains in the distance.
Kairos, who had been frowning, seemed to have thought of a solution and came closer to me.
“Wait in the carriage for a moment. I’ll contact the mansion and have them bring a teleportation scroll.”
I nodded and then frowned.
“Wait a minute. Then should we send someone? To come here?”
“That’s the best way to go.”
“How long does it take to get to the village? I overheard earlier that it was around 9 pm, wasn’t it, Sid?”
Sid nodded once again. “Yes, madam. It would take until morning to reach the next gate portal, and the nearest village would be around 9 or 10 pm at the latest.”
“What time is it now?”
“It’s just past 2:30.”
So, it would take about seven hours to reach the village.
During the subjugation, I endured more than ten hours in a worse carriage, so this is nothing. Of course, I didn’t experience it myself, but I remembered all the hardships along with my previous memories. I also suffered similarly when I went with Mabel.
Anyway, since I’ve been mostly resting on the way here, my body feels light. The carriage must have been going slowly. Even if I called someone from the mansion, I would have to wait for more than two hours.
That aide wouldn’t use a teleportation scroll, so it would take him that long to get back. It would be convenient for me, but it would tire out a lot of people.
“Then let’s go to the village. It only takes seven hours. Let’s move quickly.”
At that, Kairos made an even worse expression than before.
“How can you ride in a carriage for seven hours? That’s ridiculous. Sid, contact the mansion through the communication orb…”
“I’m fine, aren’t I? I’ve come this far.”
I stopped Kairos, who was about to give orders to Sid.
“That’s…”
“That’s? Let’s just do it.”
Sid looked like he didn’t know what to do, just looking around.
“No. Sid, just go….”
“Oh, really! Let’s just go.”
In the end, I grabbed Kairos’s hand and pulled him.
“Huh…!”
Kairos blinked his eyes, his face visibly flustered as he stopped talking. I ignored him and pulled him closer to me.
“Let’s just go.”
‘He doesn’t even listen properly, really.’
I grabbed Kairos’s hand firmly, like I was bringing a tantrum-throwing child, and dragged him to the carriage. Fortunately, he followed obediently.
I quickly got into the carriage first and then reached out to urge Kairos to get in quickly.
“I’ll be really angry if we’re late, so get in quickly.”
“….”
Then, Kairos got in obediently.
“Please drive the carriage as carefully as possible.”
“I understand, madam.”
“Thank you, Sid.”
“No!”
Sid belatedly followed and closed the carriage door after putting away the portable steps that he had lowered when we stopped earlier. Kairos was staring blankly ahead.
I sighed only after the carriage started moving after watching the window.
“Now, let’s go quietly to the village. Okay? What’s wrong with riding in a carriage for a long time? We can just take the gate tomorrow. What’s the big deal….”
As I emphasized again, raising my finger as if to warn him, he smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
“….”
“What? Why are you laughing?”
Was he laughing at what I said right now?
