When Sid said something, Kairos’ face hardened slightly.

Sid nodded once again. “Yes, madam. It would take until morning to reach the next gate portal, and the nearest village would be around 9 or 10 pm at the latest.”
“What time is it now?”

Sid belatedly followed and closed the carriage door after putting away the portable steps that he had lowered when we stopped earlier. Kairos was staring blankly ahead.
I sighed only after the carriage started moving after watching the window.
“Now, let’s go quietly to the village. Okay? What’s wrong with riding in a carriage for a long time? We can just take the gate tomorrow. What’s the big deal….”
As I emphasized again, raising my finger as if to warn him, he smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
