It's Not Night - Chapter 187.1
Andra gasped, looking back and forth between Ian and Dustin. She never expected Ian to resort to violence against Dustin, as he was usually someone who had never raised a hand to anyone, despite his occasionally mischievous nature.
A brief silence settled between them.
Once she regained her composure, Andra quickly moved to create some distance between Ian and Dustin. She was afraid that Ian might swing at Dustin again.
Although not as skilled as Dustin, Ian had once been a knight’s apprentice. It was well known among the people of the East that he could handle himself physically.
“Dustin, are you okay?”
“…I’m fine. It’s nothing serious.”
Andra pulled out a handkerchief to tend to Dustin’s wound with trembling hands. It seemed he had bitten his tongue while getting hit, as he spat out blood that had pooled in his mouth.
“It’s not nothing! You’re bleeding! …. Ian, you should’ve talked it out instead of hitting him!”
As blood continued to flow from his severely torn lip, soaking the handkerchief, Andra shouted at Ian.
Ian looked at Andra with a face full of betrayal, as if questioning how she could defend Dustin in front of him.
“Andra… are you really defending that guy? Are you in your right mind? How can you, an Avelin, act like this? Of all people, how can you do this?”
“…But violence is too much! This could have been resolved with words!”
“Resolved with words? Do you think talking works with an Airak? Get a grip! You know this situation makes no sense, right? What if I hadn’t shown up? Imagine if Father had seen this! He would have fainted on the spot!”
Ian shouted at Andra again, and she fell silent at the mention of Albert. She could easily imagine how their father would react, as Ian had suggested. As Andra’s body trembled, Dustin held her hand tightly.
“Are you not going to let go?”
Seeing this, Ian’s anger flared up again. He stared incredulously at Andra, unable to believe what he was witnessing. His fist, which had struck Dustin, trembled so tightly that the veins stood out clearly.
“Since when? When did you get involved with that guy? Was it at the Academy? Huh? Tell me!”
“……”
“Forget it, don’t tell me. It doesn’t matter anyway; you and that guy will no longer be anything. Andra, let’s go back right now. You’ll go back and tell Father that nothing happened. Just say it was all a misunderstanding, that people were spreading ridiculous rumors.”
As Ian grabbed Andra’s hand to pull her toward him, she instinctively swatted his hand away. Ian stared in shock at the rejected hand for a moment.
“Andra?”
Finally, Andra faced Ian with a determined expression.
“I can’t go. No, I won’t go.”
“Andra!”
“I love Dustin. I can’t leave like this. I’m sorry, Ian. I’m really sorry. Can’t you just pretend you didn’t see this? I can’t break up with Dustin.”
Ian’s face looked lost as he processed Andra’s response, and he let out a disbelieving laugh.
“What are you saying?”
It was clear that he couldn’t believe his sister’s choice.
“Love? Who? An Airak?”
Ian’s gaze naturally shifted to Dustin, who stood behind Andra. He clenched his jaw tightly.
“Of course, that bastard is the problem. How could a pathetic thug like him get to my sister…?”
Seeing Ian’s fist clench, Andra hurriedly stepped in front of him. An ominous feeling hung in the air. This was the first time she had seen her normally calm brother so furious.
“Don’t do it! Just hit me! I won’t forgive you a second time!”
“Stay out of this, it’s not your place to interfere.”
Ian warned her in a low voice. Usually, he let his beloved younger sister have her way, but this time was different. Perhaps it was because they had all coddled her, including himself, that things had come to this.
“Why isn’t it my place to interfere? This is about me! Talk to me! Please, Ian!”
“I told you to step aside, it’s dangerous!”
“I won’t! Let’s talk this out!”
Andra clung to Ian and desperately shouted.
