It's Not Night - Chapter 172.1
As she woke up, the first thing Andra saw was the sunlight draped across the bed. She blinked and looked around. She was alone on the wide bed. Dustin, who had been there when she fell asleep, was nowhere to be seen.
Dustin? She called out loudly with a hoarse voice, but there was no reply. She suddenly felt anxious.
Andra quickly threw on a robe and stepped out to look for Dustin. However, he was not to be found anywhere in the lodging, nor was there a single note on the table.
Back at square one, Andra crossed her arms and anxiously tapped her foot. It wasn’t like Dustin to leave without a word. She also noticed that the sword was missing.
“Where on earth …”
Andra then dressed properly. Since her options of going out in a robe were limited. Just as she was finishing, someone knocked on the door.
Expecting Dustin, she hurriedly opened it, but it was Hailey, who was out of breath.
“Hailey?”
“Where is he?”
“What? He?”
“Yes, that guy! That guy who was always by your side.”
Hailey snapped in frustration at Andra. Andra’s face flushed with confusion. Why would Hailey come at such an abrupt time to ask about Dustin’s whereabouts?
“I don’t know. I woke up and he wasn’t there. I’ve been looking for him…”
Before Andra could finish, Hailey burst out again.
“Damn it! The dragon is gone.”
“….Gone? The dragon is gone? What do you mean?”
“The last person to see the dragon was that guy. After that, the dragon hasn’t been seen.”
Shocked at Hailey’s words, Andra closed her mouth. She thought of something and pushed past Hailey, and ran to the building where the dragon had been just yesterday.
The area was already bustling with people, among them Bon, Helic, and Rio.
“Andra, there…”
“Just a moment, I need to check something!”
As Andra tried to rush into the building, Helic spotted and tried to stop her, but she was quicker. She flung open the door and stepped inside, only to suddenly feel weak in the legs and stagger. She barely managed to grab a nearby pillar to keep herself from falling.
“…”
Andra stared in disbelief at the scene before her. What is this….It doesn’t make sense….. Aside from the missing dragon, what had truly shocked her was the pool of blood soaking the spot where the dragon had been.
That wasn’t all. The floor, walls and area was a complete mess, as if a fierce battle had taken place.
“Miss Andra, you’ve arrived just in time. Your companion has…”
“What happened here?”
Andra quickly questioned Helic, who had followed her into the building. She needed explanations for the chaos before her. Helic calmly raised his palms towards her and replied,
“….First, take a breath. Calm down.”
“Could it be…”
“No one knows yet. Nothing has been confirmed.”
When Helic answered, Andra sighed deeply, realizing she had been holding her breath from the shock. Her body started to tremble uncontrollably.
“It appears your companion might be involved in this incident, but we are still urgently looking into it. That’s why we need Miss Andra’s cooperation. About this incident…”
“I don’t know too… I don’t understand why this happened either.”
Andra looked over the scene again, visibly confused. The dark red blood was still smeared everywhere, and the damaged area was devastating to look at. Her face grew increasingly pale as she looked at it. The amount of blood on the floor was nowhere small.
Dustin Airak, what have you done?
And where are you now?
Andra wrapped her arms around herself. The unease had been building up ever since. Moreover, the situation was unexpected.
“Then it would be better to go somewhere. Maybe outside…..”
At that moment, a strange rumbling began. It came not just inside the building but echoing throughout all of Hezel. Andra turned to Helic.
“…Sir Helic, now?”
“Let’s get outside, quickly!”
Helic led Andra out. Everyone around looked up towards the sky. Above Hezel floated a sky island, the source of the noises.
“What is that…?”
“I have no idea.”
