If They Get Obsessed, I’m Doomed - Chapter 60
Chapter 31.1
She was a little nervous about going into a place that was cut off from the outside world. It was as if she had become a stowaway heading to a secret location.
As soon as she entered through the iron gate, the path immediately turned. Once inside the wall, the outside was no longer visible. There were layers of emerald green arranged on both sides of the narrow path. The pressure felt as if she was blocked from both sides, so much so that her vision was suffocating. It wasn’t until the car made another turn that a clear view unfolded.
A vast lawn, as well-maintained as the gardens of the imperial palace, spread out before her. Interspersed with the landscaping was Viburnum carlesii adorned with flowers as white as snowflakes.
“…It’s beautiful.”
Ariel subconsciously exclaimed her admiration.
The deserted garden they had reached after they entered through the maze of paths looked like a fairy forest. In the center of the garden was a circular fountain that splashed like a signpost, and beyond it, a large building with a white exterior and a light blue roof appeared. The car, which was gliding smoothly, came to a stop in front of the stairs leading to the building’s entrance.
The maid who had been waiting earlier approached and opened the car door.
“We’ve been expecting you, Princess Huckley. Welcome to the first dormitory building.”
The maid slightly bowed her head in greeting. Then, with a polite gesture, she led the way with polite gestures.
“I’ll show you to your room.”
As the maid led the way, Ariel followed behind.
Even though she thought the building seemed impressive from the outside, the interior was even more so. The pale blue walls were adorned with white alabaster decorations, creating a detailed sculpture like a work of art. Even the frames of the masterpieces hung as decorations were entirely carved from alabaster.
The dormitory looked like an ivory palace floating in the sky.
After making a turn and walking straight down the elegant hallway, which was so exquisite it felt almost wrong to step on, they reached a pristine white door.
“Then, I hope you have a comfortable and pleasant stay. I’ll take my leave now.”
At the door, the maid gave a brief farewell and departed. There were no further explanations.
Ariel, without much curiosity, opened the door.
Inside was a room with a tightly woven wooden floor and white furniture arranged neatly. In the center, she saw a familiar face. A neat appearance and an expressionless demeanor that resembled that of their employer. Canon, who had arrived earlier, saw Ariel and greeted her.
“You have arrived, Young Lady.”
“You’re always so composed, no matter where you are.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment. Thank you.”
Canon replied cheerfully. She also added her admiration for the facilities.
Ariel nodded in agreement.
The private room for one person, complete with a servant’s quarters, was located on the second floor and received plenty of sunlight. To be frank, it was even better than her room at the Count’s estate.
‘I wonder if I really deserve such treatment. They won’t ask me to leave midway, will they?’
Honestly, the facilities were so good that she might even beg not to be kicked out.
Ariel glanced around the luxurious room and then headed to the table, where a map, a schedule, and an academy guidebook were neatly arranged on the white table. After skimming through them, she asked Canon.
“Were there any messages for me?”
“Yes, there were.”
Canon explained everything in detail, including the information about the dormitory facilities that the maid had omitted.
She felt deeply grateful for her presence. Nobles attending the academy were allowed to bring one servant. Naturally, she chose her personal maid, Canon, who readily agreed, especially since she would receive a higher salary. A servant brought in separately was required to enter the dormitory in advance to prepare for their masters.
They had received the call a week ago, and Ariel was aware of this. However, she hadn’t known that she would receive such special treatment in such excellent facilities.
“Usually, even transfer students aren’t treated this well.”
“I see. I suppose I should be grateful…”
For Ariel, it was a burdensome thought.
Even commoners could enter the academy if they passed the rigorous entrance exam. Admission was like that.
From then on, however, treatment varied entirely based on one’s rank. The first dormitory wing was for the highest-ranking students, followed by the second, third, and finally, the fourth dormitory wing for commoners. Naturally, the facilities used were also differentiated by class.
In this context, Ariel was assigned to the first dormitory wing.
According to Canon, she was categorized as a special guest who must be treated with the highest level of treatment.
Among the nobility, only the three major founding patriots of the empire and above were classified as special guests. Considering the empire’s extremely rigid hierarchical structure and the significant gaps between ranks, it was excessive treatment for the daughter of a count, not even a marquis.
Nonetheless, what overturned this was the power of the imperial family and the signature of Skylar.
Today, Ariel realized just how immense the power of the imperial family was. She also realized how extraordinary the reward of the Prince’s recommended transfer was. At the thought, she pulled out the documents she had brought and gazed at them silently. They were pieces of paper containing a frightening amount of power.
She was starting to think Skylar’s name sounded formidable.
‘This name… If I accidentally address it wrongly, I hope my neck will still be intact.’
While she was lost in thought, Canon interrupted her.
“There’s an important announcement to be made during the commencement ceremony today, and all students are required to attend. You must participate as a transfer student.”
The thought of gathering all the students made Ariel feel uneasy as Devoncia’s face suddenly appeared in her mind. He reminded her of someone who reigned over many people.
‘Would the Crown Prince be here too?’
Since the age range of all the targets was quite similar, they would probably all run into each other here.
“Where do I need to go?”
“You have to go to the central hall in your school uniform by ten o’clock. A driver will accompany you separately, so you can just ride in the car. It’s nine o’clock now, so take your time getting ready.”
After calmly delivering the message, Canon took out the school uniform from the dressing room—a white blouse, black ribbon, and black overall dress, along with black knee socks and student leather shoes—it was the basic academy attire that a princess from a noble family should wear.
Additionally, there was another outfit prepared specifically for Ariel as a special guest. The overall design was similar, but the colors were different. It was a white dress with a beige ribbon, and on the chest of the dress was embroidered the imperial emblem in gold. Both outfits were different from the plain uniforms without ribbons that she had seen at the main gate. Perhaps it was a school uniform for commoners.
