I Think I’m a Horror Game Villain - Chapter 96
Chapter 96
“It’s been two days since we arrived, and there’s still no mission. Isn’t that weird?”
“…You’re right. It is strange.”
“What’s the problem with not having a mission? It’s better if we don’t have to go through any trouble, isn’t it?” Tommy remarked.
Zion sighed openly at Tommy’s words. “Tommy, think about what happened in the dining room. What was the condition for clearing this game, in other words, how can we escape the mansion?”
“Getting the true ending and defeating the villain, obviously.”
“Exactly. Since we don’t know if the villain is one of us or hiding somewhere in the mansion, our only way out is to achieve the true ending, right?”
“Yeah, so what’s your point?”
“To get the true ending, we have to clear all the chapters. But how can we move on to the next chapter without a mission?”
I didn’t want to admit it, but Zion was saying exactly what I was thinking.
“So, what do you suggest we do?” Tommy asked.
“That’s what we need to figure out,” Zion replied dismissively, turning his gaze to me. “Heyna, do you have any ideas about what to do next?”
“No, not yet.” Actually, I did have an idea, but I couldn’t voice it just yet.
“Zion, what about you?” I asked.
“I can’t think of anything right now.”
“Tommy?”
“Tommy obviously doesn’t have any ideas, does he?” Zion interjected.
‘I wasn’t asking you, Zion.’ I didn’t like how he was openly dismissing Tommy. Fortunately, Tommy didn’t seem to mind.
“I don’t think we’ll solve anything by racking our brains. Why don’t we just ask that old butler?” Tommy suggested.
I was surprised. His idea aligned perfectly with mine.
‘9. If you encounter any difficulties, call for the butler. The butler will always be there to assist you.’
If the words “the butler will always be there to assist you” were true… ‘Pulse might tell us how to get to the next chapter.’
I was about to say I had the same thought when Zion suddenly laughed. “Hahaha, that’s quite amusing.”
“Huh? What’s so funny?” Tommy retorted.
“Tommy, you seem to be under a misconception. The butler here is a servant of the Clarence family and a ghost. Do you really think he’s on our side?”
“Who said anything about being on the same side? I’m just saying we should ask him if he knows anything about the mission for this chapter.”
“There’s no guarantee he’ll give us a straight answer. Think about the ghosts we’ve encountered so far. They all tried to kill us. Why would the butler be any different?”
“Well…” Tommy couldn’t argue with Zion’s logic.
That was the exact reason I hesitated to suggest asking the butler. I also suspected, like Zion, that Pulse was ultimately after our lives, just like the other ghosts. Yet, the reason I wanted to ask him about the chapter was… ‘I don’t know why, but I feel like I should.’
It was just a gut feeling. My survival instincts, honed from overcoming countless obstacles, whispered that the butler’s cooperation was essential for moving on to the next chapter.
I was hesitant due to the lack of concrete evidence, so I was relieved that Tommy brought it up first.
“I agree with Tommy,” I stated.
“What? Heyna, you too…?” Zion trailed off, looking shocked, as if I had betrayed him. He must have assumed I would side with him.
“I don’t completely trust the butler either. Like you said, Zion, all the ghosts in the mansion have tried to kill us. But I think it’s okay to at least ask.”
“….”
“And besides, doesn’t the butler already know what we’ve been talking about? He said he can hear us calling for him from anywhere.”
We had mentioned the word “butler” numerous times, yet he hadn’t appeared. ‘He’s probably waiting for us to make a decision and call for him.’
“Since we’re here, why don’t we just ask him? What do you think, Zion?”
“…If that’s what you both want, I can’t argue. Let’s do it.”
Thankfully, Zion didn’t push his opinion any further. He looked like his pride was hurt, though. ‘At least his favorability points didn’t go down.’
As soon as Zion finished speaking, “You called,” Pulse appeared, as if he had been waiting.
‘He was listening after all.’
“Butler, we have a question,” I began.
“Yes, please ask anything.”
“How do we get to the next chapter from here?”
“You wish to proceed to the next chapter…? Are you perhaps uncomfortable with your stay here?”
“Oh, no, not at all. We’re resting very well, thanks to you.”
“Then why do you wish to leave?” The grey eyes behind his monocle gleamed sharply. His voice had taken on a subtle edge, and his expression seemed displeased since I asked about moving on to the next chapter.
‘I’m sure of it. Pulse wants to keep us here.’
If that was the case, it would be difficult to get any further cooperation from him. I was about to subtly change the subject when Pulse spoke first.
“Very well. If that is your wish, Heyna, I shall cooperate.”
