I Think I’m a Horror Game Villain - Chapter 90
Chapter 90
“I’m sorry, but I can’t open the door,” I said firmly, turning away. But then…
Scrape… Scrape… A dragging sound echoed from down the hall. And then, the ghost who had just been sobbing cried out, “-No! Don’t come near me! Stay away!” Her voice was thick with terror.
“Hey! Hey! Help me! Please, open the door!”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A female ghost desperately pounded on the door.
Scrape, scrape, scrape.
A dragging sound grew louder and faster.
“Please, please! Hey!”
Scritch―! A chilling sound, like a large insect skittering right past her ear, pierced the air.
“Ahhh! He…help…!” Her scream cut off abruptly.
Thud!
Something heavy slammed against the door. After the loud impact, silence descended.
“Hello?” I whispered, pressing my ear to the crack beneath the door. I held my breath, straining to hear, but there was nothing.
‘What was that…?’
“Miss Ghost? Are you alright…?”
There was no reply. Instead…
Splash!
A moment later, the sound of something large collapsing into standing water, followed by…
Drag… draaag.
The dragging sound faded into the distance.
‘What on earth is going on?’
I could only imagine the scene unfolding beyond the door, based on the sounds. To know for sure what had happened, to know the fate of the female ghost who had so desperately pleaded for help, I would have to open the door.
The urge to see for myself was overwhelming. My hand trembled as I gripped the doorknob.
‘Just a peek wouldn’t hurt, would it?’
‘It’s not breaking the rules if I don’t step into the corridor.’
‘Just a quick look through the crack, and then I’ll close it again…’
To open, or not to open? I wrestled with the decision.
After what felt like an eternity of agonizing deliberation, I finally decided.
‘Okay. A quick check won’t hurt.’
Taking a deep breath, I cautiously opened the door.
Creeeak―
The hallway was pitch black, devoid of any light. The faint glow from my room barely illuminated the space directly in front of me.
“Gasp!”
The sight that greeted me sent me reeling back in horror.
In the inky darkness, a vast pool of crimson liquid spread across the pale wood floor. I didn’t need a closer look to know.
‘That’s definitely blood.’
The metallic stench of blood filled the air, making my stomach churn. I scrambled back to my bed, half in shock, and screamed, “G… Guide! Guide! Pulse!”
They said the guide could hear you anywhere on the third floor, no matter where or when you called…
I desperately called for Pulse, praying it was true.
Thankfully, he arrived in less than a minute. He spoke as he entered through the partially open door.
“What is the matter, Miss Heyna?”
“G-guide…sir…! There’s… blood… blood in the corridor…!”
“Miss Heyna, I apologize, but could you tell me where you saw this blood?”
“There! In the corridor! Right there!”
“….”
He looked perplexed, as if he couldn’t understand what I was saying.
“I’m sorry, but I saw no trace of blood on my way here.”
“What…?”
Trembling, I stepped back into the hallway.
‘…What?’
Just as Pulse had said, the corridor was spotless. There wasn’t a pool of blood, not even a single drop. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I even touched the floor, but my hand came away clean.
How…?
“Forgive my presumption, Miss Heyna, but perhaps you were dreaming.”
“Dreaming… you say?”
That couldn’t be. The vivid crimson staining the floor, the pungent metallic smell… that was no dream.
“It wasn’t a dream! It was there! I saw it! A pool of blood, right there…!”
“But Miss Heyna, you can see for yourself. There’s nothing here.”
“But…”
“If there truly was a pool of blood, as you say, wouldn’t there be some trace of it remaining?”
“…I suppose so.”
Pulse lowered his lantern closer to the floor.
“I see no sign of any bloodstains. What about you, Miss Heyna?”
He didn’t need to ask.
“I don’t see anything either.”
My hands were still shaking. The shock of seeing the blood was still vivid in my mind. Yet, the scene before me completely contradicted my memory.
