I Think I’m a Horror Game Villain - Chapter 23
Chapter 23
Rose also had the same question as me, as I suspected. Perhaps others who were observing the situation also had the same thoughts? I was curious as well. Why did the seeker suddenly release me with just about three seconds left? And… What was the last thing they were trying to say to me?
“I don’t know either.”
Actually, I had some speculations. Maybe the seeker was trying to call my name? I was too scared earlier to think about it. But now, in a calmer state, as I calmly recalled the situation from earlier…
The seeker had a highly surprised expression. No, it wasn’t just surprise. It was something a little more… bewildered yet pleased…
‘Pleased?’
That thought crossed my mind, and I was taken aback.
‘Could it be that I am really the villain…?’
If that were the case, it would explain why the seeker didn’t attack me. Naturally, they wouldn’t attack someone on the same side as them.
‘No, I can’t be sure yet.’
I denied the suspicion that came to mind.
There was no definitive evidence that I am the villain.
“Heyna, Rose, look over there.”
Zion pointed with his finger towards the end of the corridor that used to be shrouded in endless darkness.
“When did that appear?”
“I’m not sure. I happened to stumble upon it while talking with Dekir.”
“Let’s go in quickly.”
Rose stood up abruptly and headed towards the door. I tried to follow her, but Zion grabbed my wrist.
“Heyna, there’s something I want to tell you.”
There was a gaze that indicated he was suspicious about something.
“Huh?”
Two black circles were twinkling above his head. It was a sign indicating a rise in suspicion.
When did his suspicion increase again?
Considering the question I heard from Rose, I could predict when his suspicion increased.
“Ah, nothing.”
Zion awkwardly mumbled.
“Zion, didn’t you have something to say to me?”
“Well, I did. But now that I think about it, I can’t remember.”
He quickly went to check the door.
‘Why didn’t he ask further?’
Could it be because of his favorability for me?
He might have both suspicion and favorability for me and didn’t want to interrogate me.
If that’s the case, it would be better to increase his favorability for me as much as possible. It would help avoid awkward situations like just now.
“Heyna, let’s go.”
Dekir reached out his hand, waiting for me. I naturally took his hand. Holding Dekir’s hand had become quite natural for me.
“Hey, Deki.”
“What’s wrong, Heyna?”
His clear eyes were filled with a joyful light. Whenever I called him, Dekir would always look at me with a gentle smile. Although I knew it wasn’t an emotion I could feel in this unpredictable place… I was gradually developing a liking for him.
‘Could this be the famous ‘Haunted House Effect’?’
It has been said that people who enter the haunted house at an amusement park often end up becoming a couple. In my case, it wasn’t a haunted house but rather becoming a character in a horror game.
“It’s strange. We just met today, but you don’t feel unfamiliar at all, Heyna.”
I could clearly feel it from his casual tone. Dekir saw me not as a woman, but as a younger sister or friend.
‘What was I expecting? How foolish.’
Feeling embarrassed about my own daydreaming, I let out a deep sigh. I forced a smile, lifting the corners of my mouth that had drooped in disappointment.
“I feel the same way.”
“Huh? You too, Heyna?”
“Yes. It hasn’t been long since we met, but strangely, I feel at ease when I’m with Deki. Maybe we’ve met somewhere before.”
“Really? In my opinion…” Dekir spoke with a serious tone. “Maybe we were close in our past lives.”
“Huh…? Past lives?”
“Yes. I read in a book before that when a person dies, they lose their memories and are reborn. They don’t know if they’re born in same world they lived in originally or a completely different one.”
Dekir enthusiastically explained about past lives.
Suddenly, he was talking about the concept of past lives. As someone who knows the truth of this world, I couldn’t relate to it at all. Well, in a way, it does make sense. The characters in this game lose their memories of previous rounds and are reborn when a new game starts.
‘No, this is more like an infinite loop than reincarnation.’
Anyway, as I watched Dekir talk excitedly, I couldn’t help but smile. I had thought he was quiet and calm, but seeing him passionately talk about a topic he was interested in was unexpectedly charming.
“Oh, sorry. I was just talking by myself.”
Dekir scratched his cheek with a bashful expression. I smiled and shook my head.
“No, it was interesting to listen to.”
“Really? Thanks. I feel like we connect well, Heyna.”
“Me too. I’m really glad to have met Dekir.”
I wanted to continue the conversation with Dekir a little longer. But…
“What if someone stood there when we open the door suddenly?”
“You’re the only one would just stand there dumbfoundedly.”
“What? Did you just call me dumb?”
“Who else would I call dumb besides you? You stupid girl.”
If we let it be, Rose and Tommy would probably end up fighting in front of the door all day.
“Let’s go already.”
I held Dekir’s hand and walked. But suddenly, I remembered something.
