The moment the message appeared, the terrifying presence of the seeker vanished. It finally sank in that the game had truly ended. I slumped down in my place.
‘I’m alive.’
The sensation of the seeker’s grip around my body lingered—it felt suffocating. If I closed my eyes, I could vividly imagine the eerie face I encountered at such a close distance, as if our breaths were about to touch. I exhaled the breath I had been holding, barely able to contain it.

But what about the others?

And…” He chuckled gently and scratched his cheek with his finger. “I don’t know what you’ll think if I say this, but ever since I first saw you, I have had this inexplicable desire to protect you.”
His cheeks turned slightly red as he smiled. Was my heart racing due to mere anxiety? Or was it because of the profound words I had just heard?
‘This isn’t a romance game…’
Did I play too many romance games? Dekir felt like a male protagonist in a romance game.
“Maybe I…”
“Heyna!”
Before Dekir could finish his sentence, Rose came running from afar, her red hair flowing behind her. She tightly embraced me, tears streaming down her face.
‘But wait, what did he want to say earlier?’
Curiosity filled my eyes as I looked at Dekir, but he was already engrossed in a conversation with Zion.
“Thanks to you, Heyna, I survived!”
Dekir’s unfinished words would have to wait now.
“You survived because of me? What does that mean?”
Shivering at the thought of it, Rose recounted what had happened. She was caught by the seeker, or more accurately, swallowed by it.
“When I regained consciousness, I was in the same spot where the button was. And then another strange message came…”
Rose’s face contorted with horror just thinking about it.
“It said that if all the players fail to survive, we have to play the game again.”
So, dying means going back to the saved location, just like the default setting of the game.
“And we have to play that dreadful hide-and-seek again. Ugh, my body is still trembling.”
Rose shivered again. She vividly remembers the seeker chewing her up.
“I was already dead, so all I could do was watch over you and cheer you on.”
“Oh, I see…”

“Did everyone watch me?”
“Yes. Ah, Heyna, you wouldn’t know since you didn’t die.”
Not dead, huh. Just hearing Rose’s words made me shudder at the thought of the terrifying story.

Rose reassured me, her eyes not flinching as she spoke.
“Nobody thought anything strange about you. Even I would have run away in that situation.”
Rose comforted me, and it made my heart feel lighter.
“Thank you for saying that.”
“But it’s strange. Why did the seeker suddenly stop at the end?”
