I Reincarnated As A Villainess, But Why Did I Become A Cat Butler Instead? - Chapter 93
Chapter 47.1
Was that what he said to a little girl…!
As I opened my mouth, Dimitri shrugged indifferently.
“You seem to be forgetting, but shapeshifters are half-shapeshifters. The shapeshifter’s world is like the weak becoming prey to the strong.”
‘Still, they are still half human, so you have to act like a human being, too!’
Even though his words weren’t wrong, I was well aware of the saying: ‘It’s an earring if it’s hung on the ear and a nose ring if it’s hung on the nose*.

Anyway, Sasha aside, I glanced sadly at Cadis, who was still tied up.
“Still, can’t you just let that hound go…”
Cadis lay limp, and his body slacked as if he had resigned as he breathed slowly. He seemed to have given up, knowing there was no escape from Dimitri’s demons as long as the shackles restricting his magic were still on him.
‘…I was trying to ease his resentment, but I’ve only added to his bad memories.’
Inwardly, I lamented and gave Dimitri a pleading look that said, ‘Can’t you just let him go?’ But Dimitri, who was staring down at Cadis, was surrounded by an icy aura.
“You want me to release the guy who tried to attack Rowaine? This ungrateful fool who almost hurt you and trampled your head.”
…It was Sasha who hurt me in the first place.
“Cadis wasn’t trying to attack me. He was just trying to respond to Sasha’s sudden attack.”
“He was trying to cause trouble in my territory even though he’s a hostage.”
Dimitri’s demeanor was firm.
I watched Cadis’ eyes darken. He must have thought there was no hope.
‘Ah, things are getting worse.’

However, contrary to Rowaine’s expectations, Cadis did not lose hope. Rather, he was only listening to her voice.
‘…What’s her plan?’
It was a constant thought that lingered in his mind for days since being captured by the Blois.
Word had spread that Rowaine Larscel had suddenly married the Duke of Blois.
Rowaine, who had once enjoyed toying with his master, His Majesty the Emperor, often insulted him and even made him fight with his comrades. Because of that, Cadis assumed she would become His Majesty’s mistress and live at the Imperial Palace.
Instead, she unexpectedly went to Blois, and to Cadis’s relief, he thought he wouldn’t have to see her again.
However, His Majesty missed her and ordered her capture. Cadis had been born a slave and had never learned to act of his own free will or reflect on his feelings. Obedience to orders was his life, and that was why he existed.
And so, he went to Count Larscel to retrieve Rowaine, the woman who had abused him, to fulfill the Emperor’s command. However, the devilish Rowaine refused to return to the Emperor and even brought him to Blois.
‘I thought he was going to kill me.’
The Duke of Blois hated and despised hounds, as anyone who has ever seen him would know.
While dog shapeshifters were highly skilled at reading other people’s emotions, cat shapeshifters made no effort to hide their own. The Duke of Blois had always lived in opposition to the hunting dogs.
When Cadis fought the Duke, he could tell that the Duke had every intention of killing him and his comrades. There was a sharp, unmistakable murderous intent in his eyes, and it seemed as though he relished waiting for the moment he would end their lives.
‘…But why did Rowaine Larscel stop him? And, why is she so nice to us?’
Things were going strangely.
Cadis thought she only brought him and his comrades as leisurely entertainment and made them fight to the death.
…He had killed two of his comrades with his own hands in that way.
He had no choice. He was bound to obey the Emperor’s orders as Rowaine asked him to order hounds. A curse spell had been engraved on his heart, one that would take his life if he disobeyed the Emperor.
None of the Emperor’s hounds could escape this fate.
Cadis, who had never known anything beyond following orders and was cursed by magic, had no choice but to comply. Even now, he could not forget the misery and sorrow he felt when he had been forced to bite and kill his own comrade. He could never forgive Rowaine for relishing in such a cruel command.
There was always a faint smell of blood clinging to her. Even after she masked it with thick perfume and donned new clothes, the unpleasant, bloody scent lingered… it was her scent.
Because of that, he would always be aware of her presence even if she was very far away.
‘Yet strangely, she doesn’t smell like that…’
For days, whenever she came to her dungeon, even when she fed him, he did not recognize her until he heard her voice or saw her face.
