Chapter 35.2

This time, we did not go to the boutique Trish had taken me to before, but to an atelier chosen by the countess.

While there were dresses that could be adjusted from ready-to-wear pieces, wealthy nobles usually preferred custom-made ones that set them apart from the others.

In addition to the catalog designs made in-house by ateliers or boutiques, clients could combine their own preferences with current trends to create custom pieces. They wanted to monopolize that design and be the first to start a new trend.

Even if other nobles later copied the look, the first person who wore it would be remembered as a trendsetter and gain admiration in the social world just for their fashion choices.

That was why they paid attention to every single detail, from the dress to each accessory. It seemed a little excessive, but in retrospect, modern times were no different. There was always someone leading a trend.

Atelier Firene wasn’t particularly flashy from the outside, but it had so much prestige that it had been previously entrusted by the royal family to make clothes.

Thanks to the countess’ influence, we were able to reserve the entire atelier for the day.

Once inside, the lead designer, Anoshaka, welcomed us.

“I’ve been waiting for you, Sir Trish, Lady Audrey. Let us go to the parlor first. Then I’ll introduce you to our atelier.”

I couldn’t believe they were able to rent an entire building and enjoy such service.

It was truly amazing. It felt unreal, like I was experiencing something that would only happen in a modern chaebol K-drama. The dresses that were brought to suit my preferences filled two entire racks, and the complementary tea and desserts were of exceptional quality.

“Ah, so this is the taste of money…”

I took a sip of the warm milk tea with a voice that clearly expressed how moved I was.

My measurements hadn’t changed much since I had been fitted for my wedding dress. I was worried that I would quickly gain weight because of all the delicious food in the Malekiah mansion, so it was a relief.

While I went in to get measured, Trish was going through the dresses on the hangers with his particular demanding taste.

“This is too old-fashioned. She just became a noble lady, and this looks like something a grandmother would wear.”

“Then how about this one?”

“It’s too revealing. She’s too modest for something that flashy. There’s a limit to how much your image can change.”

Unlike me, who accepted anything as long as it was decent, Trish was incredibly picky.

When I returned to the parlor, Trish was choosing a set of dresses that matched my style.

“Wow! I like those.”

“I have a pretty good fashion sense, don’t I?”

“Yes. Thanks to you, no one in the social world will laugh at me for being unfashionable.”

Praise breeds willingness.

If you encourage someone and applaud them, they’ll go above and beyond.

Unlike in the morning, where he was in the carriage complaining about the annoyance, Trish enthusiastically chose each outfit for me to wear and even gave me advice on matching accessories.

The atelier’s staff, watching the scene, busily followed his instructions, amazed.

Their expressions seemed to say, “So the rumors about him marrying for love weren’t a lie?”, and I couldn’t help but smile.

Aside from the people of the Malekiah family, there were only a few who actually saw the two of us, the figures who caused such a stir in the newspapers, so it was natural for them to have doubts.

But that suspicion would also gradually disappear. After all, we were choosing dresses together, chatting, and enjoying a pleasant outing, creating the appearance of a lovey-dovey couple.

“How about this, Trish?”

“You’re getting the hang of it now. It’s perfect.”

“Then I’ll go with this design!”

The staff were professional and accompanied us to the end, sending us off without showing any signs of exhaustion.

By the time our satisfying shopping trip ended, the sun was already beginning to set.

We had spent almost half a day picking out clothes.

“It’s a bit early, but shall we go for dinner before heading back?”

“Sounds good. I heard there’s a new restaurant.”

The distance from the atelier to the restaurant was not far, so we left the carriage at the atelier and walked along the street towards our destination.

Unaware that a shadow was following us the whole time.
