I Picked Up the Trash Others Threw Away - Chapter 26.1
Chapter 26.1
“Audrey?”
“… What is it?
“Can you get yourself together? Your eyes are already loosened, so why are you bluffing?”
I stood up to refute what he was saying, but as he said, my vision shook. He muttered in a suspicious voice that he couldn’t believe it either.
This is ridiculous. I only drank two glasses of wine.
“I’m tellin’ you, I really am a good drinker.”
“Your tongue is twisted.”
“Isn’t this too strong? Sir?”
I grabbed at the innocent wine bottle and glared at it. A light and sweet wine couldn’t be this strong. I grumbled and put the bottle down.
I felt that if I acted proud and drank more, I wouldn’t be able to remember what would happen tonight. It was a futile act of stubbornness, but I didn’t want to appear drunk and lose my reason in front of this man.
“Anyway, since we got married, shouldn’t we change how we address each other?”
“You called me Audrey earlier. Then I’ll call you Trish, too.”
“Are you going to call your heavenly husband by name?”
“Then what would you like to be called? Sweetheart? Honey? Darling?”
Ah, whatever.
As I got drunk, the words came out of my mouth without any sense of shame or embarrassment.
Trish let out a low laugh, dumbfounded, then replied half-jokingly in a light-hearted voice.
“That’s fine. We will look like a couple having a passionate honeymoon in front of others.”
“Gosh, do you really want to be called by those nicknames?”
“Why don’t you like it when you’re the one who proposed it? Huh? Honey.”
“Ugh! I’m not feeling well… I want to lie down.”
As I lay down on the bed ignoring Trish’s playful jokes, he laughed in disbelief.
“You’re not nervous at all.”
“Then should I pretend to be embarrassed now? Ahh, my husband’s body is so sexy that I don’t know where to look.”
“Is it just sexy? You don’t want to touch it?”
“Honestly, I thought of th… No, wait. What’s wrong with this man? You shouldn’t make fun of people!”
As I was about to playfully slap his forearm, Trish grabbed my wrist as if he was expecting it. My wrist, lightly held in his hand, dangled in the air.
I gazed blankly at Trish. Then, he climbed on top of me on the bed and looked down at me with a shady face.
I was bewildered and couldn’t say anything; my lips only opened and closed repeatedly. Even though it was the newlyweds’ first night, I didn’t think that a dangerous atmosphere like this would be created.
“Wh-what are you doing all of a sudden?”
“Don’t you know why I’m doing this?”
It was impossible to pretend that I didn’t know when my face was already burning hot. Even so, I wouldn’t give in to natural temptation.
I tried to pull out my captured wrist, but the more I rebelled, the more it hurt under Trish’s grip.
In the end, I shook both my hands and feet and shouted like a five-year-old child.
“It huuurts!”
“I tried to set the mood, but this isn’t going to work. Can’t you take it more seriously?”
“I-I’m not ready yet… No, wait. Didn’t I say I had no intention of sleeping with you?”
“Weren’t you the one who called me honey and darling?”
“You can’t even understand a joke!”
This won’t do. I felt like I was going to be eaten at this rate, so I shook my head and showed a strong objection.
“I really have no intention to do so. I’d rather sleep on the floor. We just need to pretend, we don’t have to really do it!”
“Didn’t you hear what I said? That silly mimicry is just going to arouse suspicion.”
“We just have to act like a couple who can’t leave each other’s side in front of others, there’s no need to do this when it’s just the two of us.”
As I stubbornly refused, Trish obediently let go of the wrist he was gripping as if he had lost the will to push any further.
I massaged my sore wrist a few times, glancing at Trish’s profile as he lay down.
“Did you prepare for this purpose from the beginning?” I asked, having cooled down.
“Me? Why would I do something so unfortunate.”
“You were clearly serious just now. You pervert, unscrupulous bastard!”
“Why are you condemning me? Weren’t you also expecting it? An experienced handsome man is better than a weak old man.”
Would you look at that smirk. I didn’t answer as I thought it would be better to sleep with my eyes closed as if I were dead rather than continue looking at his subtle smile.
