I Picked Up the Trash Others Threw Away - Chapter 23.1
Chapter 23.1
Did something happen?
As I stared at him without missing that, Simon replied in a tone of hesitation as if he couldn’t help it.
“This may sound impudent, but the relationship between the young masters is not very good. It’s been a long time since they stopped contacting each other because of the hostility between them. The Counts may have told him about the marriage, but… I don’t think you should expect much.”
It’s not like I didn’t understand; Trish was such a troublesome member of the family. His father had even slapped him right in front of me.
‘It’s also quite common for nobles to get into fights over succession issues.’
Even so, there would certainly be rumors if he did not attend an official wedding, but I did not want to interfere in the disagreement between the brothers unintentionally.
“The reason for their disagreement… isn’t because of the succession, is it?”
“I don’t know exactly, but I don’t think so. Young Master Trish was not interested in family matters in the first place.”
That’s right. Wouldn’t it be ridiculous for a man who only thought about his own entertainment to now covet the position of heir to the family?
‘Will he tell me if I ask him myself?’
I didn’t want to be involved in his family matters as much as possible, but I hoped the aftermath of the conflict wouldn’t affect me.
We wouldn’t legally be family in a year anyway.
When I heard that the meal was ready, I sent Simon to the dining room and went up to my room. My portion for this evening would be nothing but green vegetables, so I might as well just starve.

Like a tabloid that searched for gossip every day, the news of me and Trish’s marriage appeared on the front page of the newspaper.
I didn’t know when we had paparazzi following us, but someone had drawn a picture of me and Trish, and my face looked particularly plain in comparison to his glamorous appearance.
I wondered if they were conscious of that. From the day before the wedding, I stayed in the Malekiah mansion, and the attendants of the family spent the entire day dressing me up with a fire in their eyes.
They applied a face pack with unknown ingredients, washed my face, put petals on it, applied a fragrance, wiped it out…
My face would get puffy if I slept too much, so I had to spend the entire day doing nothing with almost wide-open eyes.
Finally, on the day of the wedding, I stood in the ceremony hall earlier than the guests and looked around with a tired face.
The hall used for the family’s banquets was decorated with abundant flowers for the wedding ceremony, and although it wasn’t very fancy, it looked elegant.
It was a formal procedure anyway, so I wanted to just get the ceremony over with, but the others didn’t seem to think the same.
“Has she finished dressing up?”
“Young Master, you can’t come inside!”
Unlike me, who had been locked in the room the whole time because my makeup was still unfinished, Trish, who was already done with all the preparations, entered the room without permission.
When the servants saw him opening the door and coming in, they tried to stop him and hid me in a hurry so that he could not see me, but he was a ruffian no one in this mansion could handle.
Shoving the servants aside lightly, he bent his waist to see my veiled face.
The suit he was wearing, white as my dress, matched his bright blond hair. When he held the veil with his white-gloved hand to remove it, I shoved his hand and spoke in frustration.
“It will be ruined if you remove it like that. Is there anything you want to know, seeing that you’re coming here ahead of time?
“It’s because I’m bored. And you always have a shabby appearance, so I was curious to see how you changed after dressing up.”
“I’ve been locked in a room all day. I’m jealous that you’re free to roam.”
As he lifted the veil, the hesitant servant held it from behind so that my hairdo wouldn’t get messed up. She seemed worried that the craftwork she had spent half a day doing and adorning would be ruined.
In novels and real life, there were times when the groom could not speak because of the bride’s different appearance, but, as if to show that he was not that kind of person at all, Trish just grinned as he looked at my face.
