I Grabbed the Tyrant’s Heart - Chapter 60
“I’ll be in the corner over there, so you know you shouldn’t pretend to know me, right?”
“Haha, I got it.”
Like during the gathering hosted by Duchess Lantia, Weathering seemed to be hiding from the crowd. After some tinkering, he looked quite likable, so there must be at least one or two people who would talk to him.
“Euel.”
Ethyl approached before Weathering left. He greeted me and looked at Weathering with a questioning gaze.
“This person is?”
“Someone I know. Weathering, this is Bonart’s first, Ethyl.”
“My name is Weathering Blest, the second son of Baron Blest.”
Weathering, perhaps wondering if Ethyl might not know the Blest family, even introduced the title.
“He’s Duke Lantia’s cousin.”
I gave an additional introduction, to keep Ethyl’s mouth shut in case he didn’t know. It was because he hated Lantia and Liesl for agreeing to kick my family out of the capital.
“Ah.”
Sure enough, Ethyl’s sensitive eyes turned cold.
“I’ll be on my way.”
Perhaps conscious of Ethyl’s gaze, Weathering greeted me politely and left the place.
“Why are you hanging out with Lantia or something?”
“He is a researcher. A scholar who is related to the research I do at the Consium. And Duke Lantia, who kicked out our family, is dead.”
“Still, Lantia is Lantia.”
“It is, but…… By the way, didn’t you say that Duke Lantia died suddenly? Do you know the exact reason?”
“No…….”
Ethyl’s thick eyebrows twitched.
“They said that Lantia refused to do an autopsy and was in a hurry to hold a funeral, so they couldn’t properly determine the cause. Father also said this was strange.”
“It is strange.”
Like they’re trying to hide something.
“By the way, aren’t you Aurin’s partner today?”
“Huh? Yes.”
Ethyl looked quite shaken.
After Marquis Xuen announced that he would give up his position, Aurin became very busy, and in the meantime, it seemed that she and Ethyl had become estranged.
To be precise, Aurin is no longer looking for Ethyl.
“Well, she must be busy.”
Ethyl’s face showed a slight hint of disappointment despite saying he was okay.
O-ho. My lips twitched, but I covered them with my hand.
Aurin entered. It was none other than Nus who held her hand, but his complexion was not so dark after not seeing him for a long time.
Either the conversation with his sister ended well, or it seems that he didn’t object much to Aurin’s ascension as the Marquis.
“Let’s get closer too. You said you had to convey His Majesty’s words anyway.”
I made my way to the center of the hall with Ethyl. My eyes met Nus’ eyes who was holding his sister’s hand. He smiled with a slight blush on his cheeks.
I responded with a light nod, and the atmosphere at the banquet went quite well.
“I am Aurin, who will lead Xuen from today.”
It was a well-known fact that Aurin decided to become the head of the family, so few people were surprised.
“It is an honor to sit in this heavy seat, and to those of you who-”
“- you bitch!”
Splash!
Someone interrupted Aurin and sprayed her with some unknown liquid.
Oh my God, isn’t that Lili Xuen? I can’t believe that kid is here. At a glance, it seemed that the former Marquis Xuen was calling her.
I knew Lili Xuen would be emotional when the former Marquis pushed his immature daughter into the Empress’ seat without countermeasures, but I never thought it would be this much.
Oh, I could see why Aurin had so much contempt for her father.
“You dare take that place? Are you kicking me out? You evil bitch!”
“Lili Xuen!”
Nus shouted and the former Marquis Xuen grabbed his youngest daughter and was helpless. The former Marquis, always pale in complexion, was holding his chest.
The guests noticed the sudden fight between the Marquis Xuen family members and did not know what to do.
“You couldn’t even dare to reach my toes!”
Lili Xuen yelled with all her might, and she finally approached Aurin. The person next to me quickly stepped into the center.
“Stop.”
Ethyl grabbed Lili Xuen by the wrist before she tried to grab Aurin.
“What are you doing?”
Even Lili Xuen was taken aback when a tall man stood in her way. Ethyl showed no mercy as his hand threw away the woman.
“You dare commit disrespect to Marquis Xuen, whom His Majesty bestowed the title to, when you barely survived with the mercy of His Majesty and Lady Hardland? You dare?”
Lili Xuen, who was disfigured and her face contorted, seemed unable to arouse any emotion in Ethyl.
“Who, who are you…… !”
“I am His Majesty’s messenger who came to congratulate the new Marquis Xuen.”
With ‘His Majesty’ being mentioned, Lili Xuen shook her head. There was a look of fear on her face.
Perhaps Lili Xuen wasn’t worth the attention, Ethyl said to Nus.
“Lord Nus, shouldn’t we kick this woman out?”
“You there, drag this woman out immediately.”
“Lili!”
The former Marquis Xuen’s eyes fluttered mercilessly as he watched his youngest daughter being dragged away by his son’s beckoning. It was hard to believe that he was the former Marquis.
Nus’s eyes were ferocious as he looked at a woman that was half his blood. Seeing the murderous energy emanating from him, it seemed that Lili Xuen had not lived properly among them.
Nus moved to support the staggering Marchioness.
Ethyl took the handkerchief from his chest and held it out to Aurin. It would have been nice if he could have wiped it off, but it would be a luxury to expect that act from Ethyl.
Aurin looked at Ethyl’s unexpected act and accepted the handkerchief.
“I will deliver His Majesty’s congratulatory words when the Marquis comes back after redressing.”
“Thank you for your consideration.”
Although her face was wet, Aurin still treated people gracefully.
“The atmosphere was disturbed by an uninvited guest, but I hope you enjoy the party.”
Aurin disappeared out of the hall again to change her clothes, and Ethyl approached the former Marquis Xuen.
“Former Marquis.”
“Lord Ethyl.”
“I know it’s rude for me to interfere in other people’s family matters.”
The brown eyes narrowed coldly.
“To drag a filthy woman who almost ruined her family into a place like this.”
Ethyl’s tone was quite harsh, and he showed that he really hated it. He was not being polite at all.
“And did you have to put Aurin in trouble?”
This time, it seems that he is also angry for other reasons.
Cheer up, Aurin. It doesn’t seem like there’s no chance at all. There may be Duke Bonart, but that’s another matter.
Inside, I cheered for my friend.
