“It’s likely that he went to welcome the soldiers. It’s to boost their morale.”

Having the noble Emperor personally come out to greet them must be quite moving for the troops. Given how passionately the soldiers shouted that they would fight to the death after Tess encouraged them, it seems entirely possible.

“Let’s head to the conference room. Lady, you should put your hood back on.”

Nodding, I covered my face again.

Following General Panet to the conference room, I saw the report had already come in.

No fatalities, seven injuries. All were minor.

Considering that we had sent a thousand men out, returning with only that level of injuries was nothing short of miraculous.

“As expected, the goddess of luck.”

Tess’s cheerful voice filled the conference room, and this time no one expressed dissatisfaction. Instead, they were busy excitedly proposing new strategies.

Despite that, Tess only had eyes for me.

“Now, Euseniel. Let’s put the hood back on.”

As Tess adjusted my cloak, he personally opened the conference room door. With a smile, he spread his arms outward, leaning slightly outside. As I stepped out, he cast a spell inside the conference room.

“Report back when the meeting is over.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Outside the conference room stood two knights. They were as still as statues, and Tess entwined his fingers with mine.

The corridor was quiet, but Tess leaned in and whispered in my ear.

“I’ll guide you to your room, Euseniel.”

Startled by the tickling sensation, he chuckled softly.

Not wanting to disrupt the calm, I quietly asked.

“Aren’t you needed in the meeting?”

“The plans are crafted by General Panet and the staff anyway. My role is just to confirm them and make adjustments where necessary.”

He seemed rather relaxed.

“By the way, aren’t you the commander?”

“I’m the overall commander, and General Panet is the deputy commander. But my duties are quite minimal.”

Tess added, just like before boosting the soldiers’ morale was the extent of his responsibilities.

We soon arrived at a room not far from the conference hall.

As I entered the door Tess held open, I found a clean interior that still bore the marks of human touch. It was evident someone had been using this room.

Rummaging through the stack of papers on the table, I discovered documents related to the battle, along with some drawings and notes.

They were in Tess’s handwriting.

“Isn’t this your room? Where’s mine?”

Seeing Tess, he smiled playfully. His familiar, graceful fingers slowly caressed my cheek.

“Oh, my lovely Euseniel.”

As he held my chin and tilted his head, his night sky-colored hair cascaded down. A sweet yet enticing scent of the night wafted through the air.

When his red lips moved, it was as if petals were fluttering, dazzling my sight.

“This is your room.”

At that moment, a thought overtook my mind: ‘Oh no, he can’t expect me to share a room with only men.’ So, I hesitantly pieced together my words.

“I believe there are female knights here too. One of the high-level wizards is a woman.”

“Haha, hahaha!”

Tess laughed heartily, as if it was the funniest thing in the world. After a long moment of joy , he held my face gently.

“Euseniel, you’re my fiance.”

“That’s true, right?”

“And Euseniel coming here is top-secret.”

“For now, at least?”

I knew I would eventually be found out, but I wanted to keep it hidden for as long as possible. I couldn’t let any internal allies or spies interfere with our plans.

“So you should stay in my room.”

Tess stroked my cheek sweetly.

“Who would dare to come into the Emperor’s room? Isn’t that right?”

“That may be true, but…”

“If someone invades the Emperor’s room, they’d be an assassin. Didn’t Euseniel come here to protect me from assassins?”

What are you saying, Tess? You should be worrying about the assassin’s safety, not yours.

“But what about the Prince? Can we just leave him like that?”

“For now, yes. Euseniel, don’t change the subject.”

Oh no, has he caught on?

“Um, if we’re sharing a room, wouldn’t that be obvious to everyone? I mean, everyone in the conference room would know.”

“That’s true. But so what? What difference does it make?”

Of course it matters!

What would people think if we were sharing a room? Especially since we’re only engaged and not yet married!

Though, I suppose people wouldn’t automatically think of the night when they saw us together.

But still…

“Why? Should I kill them all?”

“No, no, no!”

My thoughts were a jumbled mess, and Tess’s nonsense only added to my confusion.

“This room is originally meant to be a couple’s bedroom, so there are two rooms. So, Euseniel can use that room over there, right?”

As I turned to follow the direction Tess was pointing, I caught a glimpse of an empty room. Oh, so we’re using separate rooms.

Suddenly, I felt incredibly foolish and embarrassed.

“Or did you have something else in mind, Euseniel?”

“What? What do you mean?”

“Speaking of which, I don’t think you’ve told me the meaning of those secretive acts I asked about earlier.”

“When did I ever talk about that…!”

I flared up, but Tess remained unfazed.

“I could have sworn I saw a couple passing by who shared a kiss. Remember?”

How could I forget?

You laughed so loudly that the couple ran away!

Like them, I rushed into the empty room, feeling a mix of embarrassment and discomfort. Even though I thought I was getting used to Tess’s antics, seeing him after a long time made it feel strange again.

“It seems Euseniel is only honest when on the bed.”

Tess, following closely behind, continued with a teasing tone.

“You always whined for more, but now you’re running away?”

“When did I ever!”

No, I had always felt shy about such blatant remarks during the day.

“Yet here you are, running away now. You just don’t want to be caught by me, right?”

I should have answered yes, but my pride made me shake my head instead.
