I Don't Need the Grand Duke's Regret - Chapter 112
Asil grumbled and then sat down next to Louise. As he crossed his arms and made a serious expression, Louise, who was also crossing her arms, started the conversation.
“Anyway, it’s good you came. I was just about to look for you.”
“Why were you looking for me?”
“It’s about Charles.”
At Louise’s reply, Asil sighed heavily. He looked at Louise with a worried expression and said,
“I came here because of Charles too.”
“Why? What about him?”
Asil pursed his lips, hesitated for a moment, then reluctantly began to speak,
“I was thinking about sending Charles to Renato.”
Louise exclaimed loudly at Asil’s suggestion.
“Renato?!”
Asil covered his ears at her booming voice and pushed her away as she leaned in closer.
“Yes, Lenato. You don’t have to yell, I can hear you just fine.”
“But how can you send Charles there? With this snow, even Mirabel can’t move freely.”
“We obviously can’t send him the normal way. I was thinking of sending him by magic.”
“There was such a convenient method? Then why did Mirabel go by carriage in the first place?”
“Are you really asking that?”
Challenged by Louise’s question, Asil rolled his eyes as if looking at the most ignorant person in the world. Louise scowled in response.
“I’m asking because I don’t know. Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Because magic can only send one person at a time. It requires a lot of magical power too. And how could we send a whole diplomatic delegation like that? Louise, you attended the same classes as me, how do you not remember anything?”
“Magic isn’t my field.”
Louise shrugged sheepishly. Unlike Asil, who had shown talent in magic from a young age and even reached the position of tower master, Louise had always struggled with it.
Magic was also what made the twins realize they were distinct individuals despite being identical.
“So, you’re really planning to send Charles to Renato?”
“We have to. What else can we do? We’re out of options. Weren’t you also trying to talk to me about that?”
“Yes.”
Louise sighed deeply.
When Mirabel left for Arcangelo, Charles was being separated from his mother for the first time in his life.
Charles, who was deeply attached to his mother, found being separated from her to be the biggest disaster of his life.
On the day Mirabel left, Charles cried all day long. Neither Louise nor Ophelie could console him, and eventually, he cried himself to sleep.
Thankfully, he seemed to calm down the next day, thanks to Louise reassuring him that his mother would return after ten nights.
But frustratingly, heavy snow began to fall in Renato. As Mirabel’s stay became prolonged due to the weather, the child’s patience quickly wore thin.
Even Mirabel’s reassurances through the magic orb were only momentarily comforting.
Starting from yesterday, Charles had not slept and had been crying incessantly. It was frightening how he might faint from exhaustion. Louise, uncharacteristically somber, continued speaking.
“Actually, Charles threw up early yesterday morning.”
“What? Why are you only telling me now?”
“I was on my way to meet you just now.”
“Ah… Right.”
Asil nodded in understanding. He remembered that it was still before breakfast. He crossed his arms again and said to Louise,
“This can’t go on. We need to talk to Mirabel and send Charles to her.”
“I’ll tell Mother. She’ll definitely say to send him immediately.”
Louise stood up as she spoke to Asil, her face visibly relieved.
“It’s quite good having a twin who is a tower master.”
“I guess so.”
Asil puffed his cheeks and grumbled. Although Louise had caused a fuss, making him rush back from the tower, there was no trace of displeasure on his face.
For them, family was the most precious value in the kingdom of Segolinde.
And their most cherished family members were undoubtedly Mirabel and Charles.

Mirabel had made her way to the study alone. She had convinced Ricardo to drop Ezio and immediately came here. She had been so preoccupied with the map that it nagged at her mind.
‘Where did I put it?’
Mirabel rummaged through the shelves tracing her memories. As she walked through the library filled with books. She stopped at a certain spot.
Her gaze rested on a large desk. It was the place she used to study when she lived in Renato as Armilla.
‘It’s still the same.’
With a melancholic look, Mirabel approached the desk and caressed it, then suddenly her eyes widened as she remembered something.
‘It was here.’
Mirabel quickly walked to the bookshelf directly in front of the desk and pulled out a book with a thick cover. As she opened it, several yellowed pages fell out like a cascade.
‘I found it.’
Mirabel set the book down and hurriedly picked up the papers. Without hesitation, she tore up the maps she had diligently drawn and written on with clumsy handwriting.
Rip, rip.
The map became just scraps of paper in Mirabel’s hands. A smile of relief spread across her face as she looked at what was now trash.
Information about the borders of Segolinde was now completely obliterated. There would be no way for Renato, let alone the Arcangelo Empire, to invade Segolinde.
“Hey there.”
Just as Mirabel was about to turn away from the pile of former maps, a sharply edged male voice came from behind her.
Then, the sound of a sword being drawn from its sheath followed.
“Princess, what were you doing there?”
It was Ezio.
Mirabel kept her gaze forward and took a deep breath. When she didn’t respond immediately, Ezio pressed her.
“I asked what you were doing.”
“Put down your sword, Commander.”
“I’m not a Commander.”
