Chapter 33.2
“Coffee has a stimulating effect, but that’s not good for children. That’s why I don’t give it to Asher.”
Of course, there was also some caffeine in chocolate, but that was okay.
Lloyd nodded.
“I see. This is my first time hearing this.”
“It doesn’t seem to be widely known yet.”
“But how did you know, Miss April?”
April realized her mistake.
“W-Well… I drink a lot of coffee, so I learned from experience. I noticed that days when I drink a lot of coffee are different from days when I don’t.”
She then hurriedly glanced at the employee, fearing that Lloyd might ask another question.
“Um, should we serve the espresso then?”
The employee quickly caught on. As she nodded, the employee skillfully sprinkled the steaming espresso around the vanilla ice cream, creating a look as if the ice cream had been drowned in coffee, just as its name suggested.
April was the first to scoop up the vanilla ice cream soaked in espresso.
‘Yeah, this is what it tastes like.’
The sweet taste of the ice cream followed by the strong flavor of the espresso. It had a similar smoothness to the dalgona coffee she made a while ago.
Moreover, she really liked the ice cream made with plenty of vanilla beans.
‘I was thinking of adding affogato to the menu, but maybe I should just leave it out? It might seem like I’m just copying them.’
While she was pondering this, the manager asked.
“Do you like it?”
April immediately agreed.
“Yes, the ice cream is really delicious.”
“This is the pride of our cafe. Well then, Hallion here will serve you the hand drip coffee.”
The employee pointed to the blond employee who was still inside and hadn’t left yet.
Lloyd responded immediately.
“If it’s Hallion, then perhaps…”
The man with blond hair and blue eyes nodded.
“Yes, you’re right. Viscount Hallion is my father. Allow me to formally introduce myself. I’m Edmund Hallion.”
As he bowed politely and prepared to make the hand drip coffee, April silently watched his actions.
‘I like it.’
First of all, she liked his attitude towards coffee. It was evident from his expression that he wasn’t just doing it for the sake of work, but he genuinely liked coffee.
‘We should also hire a barista who loves coffee like him for our cafe too…’
As she was staring intently at Hallion, Lloyd whispered to her.
“The Hallion family is one of the families that imports coffee.”
“Oh, is that so?”
“I’ve heard that he’s quite interested in coffee, but I didn’t expect Viscount Hallion’s son to be working here like this.”
Even as the two of them were whispering, Edmund Hallion carefully brewed the coffee. The stream of water was thin, and his wrist snap was gentle.
“Do you happen to prefer a taste with acidity?”
“Yes.”
“Understood.”
As April responded, Edmund’s hand slowed down even more. The slower you steep the coffee, the better the components of the coffee seep out, resulting in a more pronounced acidity.
‘He’s doing it right.’
April rested her chin in her hands and quietly observed Hallion. Her gaze suddenly shifted from his hands to his face. She hadn’t intended to look, but her gaze naturally drifted there.
‘He has a handsome face too.’
If she were to compare him with Claude, Claude was a handsome man who was so cold that it was difficult to even say a word to him, while Edmund was a man whom anyone seemed to be able to easily approach. In other words, he was like sunshine. In addition, with his warm and friendly demeanor, it seemed like anyone meeting Edmund for the first time would take a liking to him.
‘…But why does my face feel stinging?’
April turned her head as she felt an intense gaze coming from somewhere. Claude, resting his chin in his hand, was staring at her.
The emotion reflected on his face was ‘displeasure.’
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Me, looking at you?”
Even though Claude raised his eyebrows as if he didn’t understand, he was actually looking at her with displeasure. It had been since Edmund Hallion appeared. April couldn’t take her eyes off Edmund. From the expression on her face, it was clear that she was admiring Edmund’s appearance.
Even though he didn’t know why, he didn’t like it.
Claude tapped his fingers on the table and glanced at Edmund this time. He certainly had the kind of appearance that would be popular in social circles. Normally, he wouldn’t have cared at all whether other ladies admired someone’s appearance or not…
“It’s unpleasant.”
