Chapter 32.2
What he pointed out was just an ordinary building, nothing particularly special about it. It had no unique shape or decoration. Perhaps he was simply marveling at being in a new place.
Understanding the child’s excitement, she played along.
“Wow, the building is really cool, aren’t they?”
“Right?”
Asher, who had been chirping like a sparrow, suddenly looked at Claude, who was sitting with his arms crossed, and tightly shut his mouth.
April smiled bitterly at the sight of the child.
‘I definitely need to figure out a way.’
In one way or another, she would make sure the two of them became close. Still, Claude seemed to have some awareness after all as he glanced at her and directed a word towards the frozen child.
“It’s okay to watch without worrying about what I think.”
‘It would have been better if he had said it a bit nicer.’
April sighed. Still, considering Claude’s personality, she felt that he had been kind enough in his words.
Whether he sensed it or not, Asher, although still hesitating, looked out the window again. He didn’t express as much awe as before, though his eyes widened slightly, and his mouth fell open. While he was in amazement, the carriage continued its journey and finally arrived at Beris Street. When the carriage stopped, Claude opened the door and stepped out first.
Asher and April sequentially took his hand and stepped out of the carriage.
The place where the carriage stopped was the busiest spot on Beris Street, with the highest population density, even among the bustling area. It was in front of a lavishly decorated three-story cafe. The only peculiar thing was that the cafe appeared to be closed for business.
“Wow! It’s as white as clouds!”
Just as Asher described, everything about the cafe was white. With terraces on the second and third floors, it seemed like a perfect place to enjoy tea time on a sunny day.
“That’s right.”
After patting the child’s head, who was admiring, April turned to Claude and asked.
“Where are we? Did we come for a preliminary survey? But it doesn’t seem to be open for business…”
“What about this building?”
Instead of answering her question, he asked something completely unrelated. April tilted her head at him, not understanding what he was saying for a moment.
“What about this building?”
“I asked what you think of this building. Do you like it?”
“Is there anything I like or dislike about it?”
Although she thought it was strange, April answered dutifully.
“Still, it’s pretty. I think it would be nice to open a cafe in a place like this.”
“That’s a good thing.”
A good thing? What was good about it? Before she could question further, Claude gestured to Lloyd, who nodded once and walked towards the closed café before unlocking the door with a key.
‘He… opened the door?’
April stared blankly as Lloyd swung the door wide open. Claude cocked his head.
“Why are you just standing there? Let’s go in.”
“Wow!”
Asher was the first to react. He grabbed her stiff hand and headed towards the cafe.
“Sister! Let’s go in!”
At Asher’s urging, April stepped inside at the child’s urging. As impressive as the exterior appearance was, the interior was also splendid. Yet, she couldn’t help but feel somehow familiar in a place she visited for the first time.
‘Isn’t it strangely similar to my cafe in Saran’s Estate?’
The overall interior color scheme, table shapes, arrangement of furniture and objects, and various other details evoked memories of her former cafe.
“No way…”
As she stared blankly at Claude, he nodded his head.
“It’s your cafe.”
“…Yes?”
When she responded a beat late, he added.
“Of course, you’re the owner.”
This time, April was so surprised that she couldn’t even speak. She gaped like a crucian carp.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Is this really… my cafe?”
“I instructed them to decorate it as similar as possible to the cafe you used to run.”
Lloyd added to Claude’s brief statement.
“However, if there’s anything you’re not satisfied with or if there’s something you’d like to add, please feel free to let us know. We’ll make adjustments right away.”
“Can I really accept this place?”
“Is there a problem?”
“Of course there is! It’s my café, and you didn’t even say a word to me about it…”
April deliberately pretended to be angry for a moment before bursting into a bashful smile.
“Thank you so much for arranging all of this!”
So what if he didn’t discuss it with her? The important thing was that she got a cafe that wasn’t just enviable but much better than others.
“What, with something like this.”
“This is truly the cafe I’ve always dreamed of. Really, really…”
Tears began to well up in April’s eyes when it dawned on her now that this was her cafe.
Lloyd handed her a handkerchief.
“Ah, thank you. Why am I crying?”
April wiped at the corners of her eyes with a handkerchief before turning to Asher.
“Asher, do you want to explore the cafe with sister?”
“Of course!”
