I Became the Villain's Master - Chapter 2

Chapter 2
╰─..★.──────────╯
I was a normal college student in South Korea, but I found myself possessing a body in an ongoing novel called ‘The Secret Contract of Souls’.
I have no idea how it happened, but the last thing I remember was a truck rushing toward me.
Crash!
I was just walking while reading the novel!
After that, I woke up in a strange world in an unjust way. Perhaps, it seemed like God took pity on me and gave me a second chance at life.
However, there was a problem…
‘Why am I an extra…?!’
As it turns out, I transmigrated into the novel I was reading. That alone was bewildering, but the body I possessed was an extra that wasn’t even mentioned in the original story.
In other words, I wasn’t the main lead or even a supporting character. I was just an insignificant extra.
‘If I was supposed to possess someone, why not possess the main leads…?’
At first, I blamed God and felt discouraged, but surprisingly, I was quite satisfied because the situation suited my temperament. I could live peacefully without getting involved in politics or conspiracies. I could just live in the world created for the main leads.
Fortunately, the original novel, ‘The Secret Contract of Souls’ followed a typical storyline.
‘At first, it was filled with an unhappy narrative.’
Abused in an orphanage, the female lead was nearly sold as an illegal slave when she was coincidentally saved by the male lead, Duke Eckart’s eldest son. The male lead took her, who had nowhere to go, and her female lead’s halo captivated the hearts of the Duke’s family.
‘In the end, she was adopted as the Duke’s daughter.’
As an extra who didn’t even have any buffs, I could only envy her abilities. However, there was a twist.
‘There was a secret about the female lead’s birth.’
It turned out that the female lead was the Emperor’s illegitimate child, Duke Eckart knew about this and adopted her.
‘But she’s the female lead, after all…’
At first, the male lead planned to use her for political gain, but he fell deeply in love with her and decided to abandon his plans to keep the secret hidden.
In the meantime, after subduing the demonic forces threatening the Duke’s territory and returning, the male lead and the female lead fell in love with each other.
That was roughly the main character’s storyline. The original author seemed to enjoy expanding the scale, as the presence of the villain was quite significant.
‘Wasn’t the villain the Tower Lord?’
The Tower Lord, who fell in love instantly with the female lead, made a contract with a demon when his feelings were unrequited.
‘He even had ambitions to bring about the destruction of the world.’
The Tower Lord suddenly became sinister and bore the intent of destroying everything should she not be his. Seeing the disreputable actions of the Tower Lord, Crown Prince Cedric eventually brought an army to stop him.
That was the last chapter I read.
I don’t know the rest of the story, but it was highly likely that the male lead would have the upper hand and achieve a happy ending.
‘Well, it has nothing to do with me.’
As an extra, there was no reason for me to worry. The main leads wouldn’t know who I am. I’m a noblewoman from an unknown family with little influence, to which they would remark, ‘Does such a family exist?’
Rosette Cernia.
I possessed her when she was fifteen years old.
‘Even so, must I still go through an unhappy life?’
Possessing an extra was already disheartening, and Rosette held a position where she was forced to sacrifice for her family. Rosette, who had no greed, took care of her older brother’s messes and silently endured her younger sister’s mischief.
In short, she was treated as a scapegoat.
Rosette was so kind that she even handed over all her jewelry to her younger sister.
‘It can’t go on like this.’
Of course, that was Rosette before I possessed her, and I was different. As I looked back on Rosette’s memories, I realized just how pitifully she had lived. So, I meticulously planned my independence.
In the Sestronia Empire where I lived, once you turned twenty years old, you would be recognized as an adult and could gain independence.
With a grand plan in mind, I pretended to be obedient on the surface and carried out my secret plan. I would steal back the jewels taken by my younger sister or use my older brother’s name to receive money, gradually accumulating wealth.
After six years of careful planning and completing all the necessary preparations, I took action as soon as I turned twenty-one years old.
‘Goodbye, Rosette Cernia.’
Deciding that it would be better to quietly disappear, I left a single note behind and snuck out of the house. After all, my family would have little interest in searching for me. They would merely feel a slight disappointment that one maid had gone missing.
‘They would never come looking for me.’
I occasionally eavesdropped on my younger sister’s conversations. As a result, I had already arranged a house in my name through a real estate agent when I turned twenty. Dealing with tasks secretly behind my siblings’ back had been challenging, but the results were satisfying.
Luckily, I managed to buy a house that had just been put up for auction.
Anyway, at the moment, I was on a carriage heading towards the capital. The bumpy ride was uncomfortable, but the fact that I had achieved my independence made even that insignificant.
After a long journey, the carriage finally arrived in the capital.
‘I’m here.’
I disembarked from the carriage with the escort of the coachman. The refreshing air filled my lungs, and I looked around with a noticeably more relaxed expression. Now I could live without worrying about my family’s watchful eyes.
Humming a tune that naturally came to mind, I took steps forward. After walking for a while, a large house, large enough to be called a mansion, came into view. It was the house that had been put up for auction, where all my dreams resided.
‘I feel a bit uneasy, but…’
I don’t care if the previous owner committed suicide or something… it was cheap!
Behind it, there was a mountain, and in front, a river flowed. Moreover, it was tranquil—exactly my style.
Creak…
The door opened, and I smiled with joy as I looked around the peaceful and cozy house.
‘I’ve made my dream of owning a house come true! Well done, Rosette!’
Today, the world seemed so beautiful. I lightly walked forward as if I was walking on a cloud.
Finally, I truly felt that I had escaped from the Cernia household. I was so blissful that my legs felt light.
‘I am free!’
Now, all that’s left was to find a job and live happily. I hope the main characters find beautiful love, and as for the villain, I trust that they will be dealt with accordingly.
