Helios smiled broadly and slipped Sera’s hand into his pocket. Having rarely shopped for things himself, he seemed to enjoy this new kind of date.
They first visited a candy store. As soon as they entered, the warm air, in contrast to the outside, greeted them.
Helios took off his gloves, roughly shoved them into his pocket, and then rubbed his hands together to warm them before gently cupping Sera’s red ears and cheeks.
“Were you very cold?”
“A little.”
“Your nose is red.”
As they warmed up, Sera and Helios browsed the store. True to its name, the store had rows of large snowball-sized schnitzels lined up on the shelves.
After buying a heap of treats for Rosé and Ferre, they sat down like the other couples around them.
“Shall we try one?”
Helios elegantly picked up a knife and fork. At first, he cut gently, but the large schnitzel didn’t break easily.
He applied more pressure, causing the veins in his wrist to stand out.
“It’s harder than I thought….”
Helios muttered, finding the cutting more challenging than expected.
Watching him, Sera quietly handed him a hammer from nearby.
“That’s why we usually use a hammer.”
Helios looked up at the tool, which seemed out of place for a dessert. Glancing around, he awkwardly scratched the back of his head.
“Oh. So you use the hammer to break it….”
“It’s too hard to cut with a knife.”
Sera explained cheerfully, and Helios propped his chin on his hand, tilting his head slightly.
“You didn’t tell me on purpose?”
“Busted? I just wanted to see my husband struggle a bit….”
Helios chuckled and took the hammer, striking the schnitzel. Powdered sugar, piled like snow, fluttered down as the chocolate coating cracked.
Picking up a bite-sized piece of the broken treat, he brought it to Sera’s mouth.
“Say ah~”
“Ahh~”
Sera gently opened her mouth, and Helios placed a piece of the cookie inside.
Helios’s eyes crinkled warmly as he looked down at Sera.
“How is it? Does it taste good?”
“Yes, very.”
Sera smiled softly and asked Helios to open his mouth, saying, “Ahh~”
Though a bit shy, he obliged, and eagerly accepted the cookie Sera offered him.
After finishing the sweet treat, Sera and Helios handed over several boxes of cookies to their attendants and set out to find the Yeti doll Ferre had requested.
As they walked, the wind blew fiercely, causing Sera’s hair to whip around uncontrollably. The long strands slapped her cheeks and eyes, and even found their way into her mouth.
With a frown, Sera tried to pull her hair away, prompting Helios to burst into laughter.
“Wait here for a moment, okay?”
He promised it would only take a second and then quickly crossed the square.
Helios stopped at a stall they had passed earlier and exchanged a few words with the vendor before pulling out some coins.
It seemed he was buying a hair tie to help manage Sera’s unruly hair.
Though Sera could only see Helios’s back, she could make out the vendor’s delighted expression. The vendor handed Helios several pins along with the hair tie, likely because Helios had overpaid.
“Well, that’s just like him.”
Sera watched Helios negotiate.
It seemed his bargaining skills had improved, as he also pointed at a pair of fluffy earmuffs nearby.
“You’re getting better at this.”
In the end, Helios returned to Sera with the cute earmuffs and hair ties. Slightly out of breath, he first placed the earmuffs on Sera’s ears.
“They’re warm.”
Sera placed her hands on the earmuffs, indicating her approval.
Helios smiled proudly and showed her the hair ties.
“They’re not the best quality.”
“It’s the thought that counts.”
As he began to gather Sera’s flying hair and skillfully tie it back, it was clear he wasn’t doing this for the first time.
“How are you so good at this?”
Sera asked, looking back at him.
“Well, back when Rosé was quite the troublemaker, I was the one who had to tie her hair.”
“Ah, I see.”
Sera nodded, understanding the situation.
When her head moved, Helios, the perfectionist, quickly corrected her.
“Now, now, don’t move.”
Sera stayed still, waiting for him to finish tying her hair beautifully.
As he did, she thought to herself how truly wonderful a honeymoon could be.
