Chapter 242

“Okay, okay. Enough now, Heli.”

Even if she had to show such affectionate gestures due to unavoidable circumstances, if knights were to hear such words, she felt like she couldn’t lift her face in front of them.

Understanding the shy feelings of Sera, Helios closed his eyes, smiled, and nodded.

It was the moment when Sera was about to retract her hand from his lips.

At that moment, with a soft sound, his lips touched her palm.

Oh my goodness.

Helios had kissed her hand.

“Hel… li!”

Surprised by the moist and soft sensation, Sera let out a small exclamation.

However, he just chuckled with a satisfied smile and let go of Sera’s hand.

“I never intended to do that, but my hand just moved on its own.”

As if saying, ‘What does it matter?’ he shrugged his shoulders, like someone who always told brazen lies.

At times, he definitely acted as if he was new to all of this, just like Sera. But with sweet, sappy displays of affection like this happening more often now, it’s clear that he was effortlessly skilled in romance. Sera couldn’t help but say,

“I’ve felt it before, but you, Your Majesty…”

“Majesty?”

Helios raised his head to correct the title.

“No, Heli…”

“Yeah, me?”

“You’re too— too naughty!”

Sera turned around abruptly and walked confidently to a place with horses, with Helios following suit, chuckling.

With a joyous laugh, he assisted the approaching Sera to mount a horse.

Once again, the sweet words that teased her lingered in her ears.

“With how colorfully you react each time, I should try something naughtier next time.”

Saruvia found herself in an unfamiliar forest. The moonlight didn’t reach this almost lightless and dark forest.

The tall trees swayed, producing a mournful sound, and Saruvia’s body moved to the rhythm.

Feeling the cold wind cutting through her body, Saruvia shivered, once again struck by the surrealism of the experience.

This type of dream was not new to her.

In her last dream, she was a snake and had her throat slit. The memory was still vivid. In that dream, she was a snake.

Instinctively trying to touch her neck, her body didn’t respond as she wished.

‘It’s like this every time.’

Saruvia lowered her head and looked beneath her. Her entire body was densely covered with black feathers.

‘I seem to have taken the form of a bird this time.’

The wings, moving independently of her will, made a flapping sound.

Her body floated, turning in the dark sky.

An unpleasant cry, almost unbelievable that it came from her, also sliced through the air.

Above the black lake, she finished a short flight.

In the blink of an eye, her view changed, and now her body perched on a tree branch.

Through the rustling sound of the cool wind, voices of a man and a woman reached her ears.

Was she going to see this kind of dream every time? Saruvia laughed bitterly at the thought.

“Hel… li!”

Even without looking down, she could instantly tell that the owner of those voices were Helios and Sera.

Daring to call out the emperor’s name so casually. Saruvia twisted her head weirdly and looked down.

Helios and Sera were standing by the lakeside.

Even without looking, it was clear that Helios was in the middle of kissing Sera’s hand.

“I never intended to do that, but my hand just moved on its own.”

Saruvia grimaced with discomfort and amusement at the overly affectionate scene.

It seemed even more grotesque than last time. It was a terribly sweet speech.

“Ah… ah…”

Saruvia attempted to make an unpleasant groaning sound, but the noise coming from her throat was an unsettling bird-like cry.

She closed her eyes to the surreal scene that could not possibly be real.

It had been a long time since the tutor had left the palace.

Moreover, even if the emperor was known for his kind demeanor, he wouldn’t have allowed a mere daughter of a viscount to use his name.

Fortunately, today’s dream was not too long.

Reading her desire for the dream to end, her vision gradually blurred into darkness.

Feeling like she was floating, Saruvia was being drawn deeper into the dream.

Darkness, more darkness, and even more darkness. Into a place where no light was visible. Her consciousness faded, and her strength slowly left her body.

“Duke, it’s time for you to rise.”

A maid’s voice came to wake her up. Saruvia opened her eyes, reflexively shielding her sensitive eyes and putting on a composed expression.

Due to the intense dream and unpleasant awakening, she had become irritable at her maid’s voice.

“Don’t open the curtains without permission.”

“I apologize, Duke. The door was open.”

Saruvia’s maid quickly closed the curtain again and apologized to her master.

Slowly opening her weary eyes, Saruvia sat up. Her gaze lingered on the deep red curtains.

“The door was open?”

“It might’ve been that Your Grace didn’t close it before going to sleep. One window was open.”

“Is that so?”

Saruvia quietly questioned her maid.

She got up from the bed, sliding off it like a snake. After hastily adjusting her gown, she walked towards the window as if sliding.

She pondered for a moment, then swiftly pulled open the curtain.

The sunlight pouring in was so intense that she squinted her eyes.

When she gradually became accustomed to the light, Saruvia opened her eyes. Her gaze then settled on a strange object lying on the floor.

“This is…”

Bending down, Saruvia picked up the black feathers scattered on the floor.

“A bird…”

The dream she had today flashed in her mind. In that dream, she was undoubtedly a black bird.

The thought that the dream might be real crossed Saruvia’s mind.

The epiphany made her laugh incredulously.

“We need to talk, Belzebuth.”

Even though she knew that what she thought was a dream was undoubtedly just that, this devil seemed determined to deceive her until the end.
